@@BringingTheHeat-VBC thanks Mike. That was my point. I’m positive about things I like but honest about other stuff that interests me. And then I’ll ignore stuff that doesn’t interest me like NFTs or whatever.
I'm of the same view as you, Mike, regarding a prospective buyer with 'flipper' in their name. If they can make more money from the item I've listed, then good luck to them! I don't like leaving money on the table... but who am I to tell someone who's paying me money what they can and cannot do with THEIR item? It's not World Vision, 'sponsor a child'. I don't need monthly letters after the sale is done. 😃 I'm certainly on my guard with such names though, as it alerts my 'distress' radar. I already have my Ebay settings set to the strictest they can be, but if after I do my checks on their feedback, and all checks out, then let's do the deal. 👍
@@JunkWaxHero same here. I saw it on Instagram I think a week or two ago and was floored. I do have the complete “old cardboard “ magazine run and do think there’s something there but not like this.
@@JunkWaxHero Got the video on my shorts! Out of a Hanger Box!! Talked to Topps about the process to get the “First Card” stamp and $150 credit for sending in but would never do it cuz as we know sending stuff back and forth to Topps is a lot of fun!
As a lover of dolphins and the 60’s TV show with the same name- darn right I’d sell to flipper! Thanks for another entertaining and thought provoking show, Mike👍❤️
I would be willing to sell to a flipper. When I put things up for sale, I set my price with an idea of where I want to put that money. So generally I consider any money that people are willing to pay to be "found money" and put it into an individual card's account on my spreadsheet. When I eventually reach the price of that item, I'll buy it. It's a weird way I do my collection accounting, but it works for me.
Hello Mike, enjoying your videos. By change did you even live / work in coastal Maine? You look and remind me a lot of a boss of mine. Keep up the good work!
Having Flipper as your ID is like hanging a Scarlet Letter round yer neck. If U want to make somebody’s body language goes tense, tell a dealer at a card show you’re a Flipper when they ask what yer lookin for. As an experiment, I did this at a card show 2 weeks ago. It’s one way to be left alone while U browse.
Regarding Beckett being sued for not detecting a trimmed card. I would be surprised if there is not something in the small print that says something like Beckett will make it’s best attempt to detect flaws in the card and grade the card accordingly, but there is no guarantee that something could be missed.
I'm confused. If the card is a BIN, all the flipper has to do is click the Buy button and the seller has no choice. If it's an auction, all the flipper has to do is bid high enough to win and again the seller has no choice. Flippers have a right to buy, too.
The UNC cards i believe are Michael Jordan master collection sets from upper deck a while back. Only place ive ever seen them, and the set comes complete in the master collection along with a cpl autos and a 1/1 hand painted card
The Mookie Betts sold for $78, $83 after shipping. Not $70/$75. I never understand why people don’t double check these before quoting it in their YT videos.
Nice recap. My remark on the username filter wasn't necessarily tied to "flipper", but the actual history of the username. I've saved myself many times, by recognizing/rejecting an offer from a known problematic buyer.
So I'm not worried about a user name when buying a card, but do look at the description. It tend to shy away from sellers with emojis in the description on the item. 💣 🔥 💥
Let me know if you need the Bloomberg article. PSA is absolutely terrible. I don’t understand why so much of the community holds them in such high regard with this kind of news coming out consistently. Their mistakes are more consistent than the grades they hand out.
Greed greed. I have been collecting cards on and off for over forty years. It’s really getting disgusting autographs left and right most I bet fake. We just take there word for it. I’m glad you put those things out there. I have been buying pre war tobacco card reprints and really enjoying them. No greed or slab.
Mistakes, errors, but yet we put our trust in grading companies because they give us a 10 and not when they give us an unfavorable grade thumbs down. I was told in the 90’s that grading would ruin collecting. Maybe he was right. Get ready for the ride.
1) Ian Poulter's son. Hey, he's a kid. It's not his fault he was born to a multi-millionaire father. Also, unless the video shows it, that stack of cards around him could be part of his collection or just random cards he's had for who knows how long. If it's ME though, I'm wanting pops to buy me a '52 Topps Mantle, a '68 Topps Ryan, etc, etc, etc. 2) PSA - As you stated, they see millions of cards a month. So, a few bad apples are going to slip through. And yes, social media makes it easy to point out and report these errors, mistakes or whatever you want to call them. Let's say they make 100 errors/mistakes against a million submissions. That's like .01% or 1 in every 10,000 cards. Not bad if you ask me. 3) eBay Shill bidding - Ebay will allow you to set parameters on who you allow to bid on or buy your items. You can set it to not let someone bid/buy if they have less than say 5 or 10 feedbacks so this helps. As always, great video!
I feel like "Frank Thomas Stan account" should prolly be called Big Cap instead of Big Hurt. They just make things up to tweet about for likes.. Or they're super dumb to turn an offer down based on a username lol either or not the best flex 🤷
