I love the shape of this blade, and the blued steel finish looks great. I wish it had a kydex sheath option.
Someone needs to make an aftermarket one-piece micarta replacement grip in the Lionsteele style of knife grips.

Hey man where did you buy your knife of i bought one through amazon and i was just testing it out on a pallet and it hit a nail i wasnt going really hard but it still chipped a piece of the blade i was under the impression these are tough knives

I bought the first one on Amazon and it was crap. I had to send it back for a refund. I bought the second one from LAMNIA of Finland,… it was pretty good. That being said: If you hit a nail with any knife, it will chip or roll. You can bet money on it,… unless it’s a very expensive super steel. Even super steels can chip. Chopping on Bones can chip knives also. I’ve chipped & rolled so many knives by accidentally hitting a rock. (Chop wood 🪵 not metal. ) that’s a good rule of thumb. Even a huge, thick axe blade will get damaged if you chop into a nail.

@@keithbell9581 ,… These 1917 Frontier Bowie knives are made in India by Windlass for Cold Steel. My first one from Amazon that I sent back was bent to the right pretty badly but the very tip was bent to the left. It looked like someone had been prying with it. Or they crafted it at the factory from an already bent piece of steel. Something was wrong with the sheath also I think. So I sent it back. I was so disappointed, I wasn’t even going to order another one. Eventually I did purchase a second one from LAMNIA of Finland. It was excellent. I stored it like I store all my knives in a commercial storage garage. I check on it a few months later and it was rusting badly. The blue coat on the blade didn’t protect it at all plus I had oil on it. 😲 that is why I ultimately sanded off all the bluing and did a forced patina on it. It has held up fine since then. I recently decided to blue it again myself with super blue. So far so good. Almost every knife I own from India or Pakistan has rust issues sooner or later. I try to avoid them now. Your knife might have a bad heat treatment. It’s possible that it is brittle in some spots. I’d send it back for a refund. If you really like this blade design buy it from a reputable dealer. Just don’t chop into nails, metal, bone, or rocks with the new one. Remember even though it has the “cold steel” name,… it is made in India. I hope You get a Good one.

Metal scraps in the shank weakened the handle

Interesting. I haven’t noticed that myself but I haven’t used it a lot. It cleans up nice.

@@JoeDoomsday I really liked this knife when I saw it. During chopping and lateral loads, the handle may break off. There are tests on TH-cam. On the JOE X channel and others. Although the blade is powerful, you need to either strengthen the handle or work carefully.

One of my first Cold Steel knives. A real, hard use knife that you could actually hang on a wall too! Some blue locktite on the screws, and silicone sealer on the tang fixed any handle problems that I would have for "my" needs and it's been good to go for over two years now! Excellent knife. Good video!!!
