Hi guys! It’s taken me a long time to put this video together, but I did it by popular request and managed to try a lot of good restaurants in the meantime! I hope you enjoy this video and have fun exploring Itaewon!
Hi Marie! I'm visiting Seoul in May and have a good selection of restaurants for my mom and I to go to. With your guides and honest reviews it helps me to narrow down that list. I was wondering if you have or could try Ossu Seiromushi, 30 Baekjegobun-ro 45-gil, Songpa 1(il)-dong 서울 송파구 백제고분로45길 30. I want to visit that restaurant but I hear many mixed reviews!
I’ve lived near Itaewon for the past 4 years and never knew these places existed! Thanks to your video, I’ll definitely will be checking some of these places out! 😂😂
Thank you so much for this video, there was so much effort and thought put in to this. I really enjoyed watching it. I actually stayed in Itaewon back when I visited Seoul last September and I had no idea that half of these places existed. I will definitely try these out if I get to visit again. Thank you Marie!
I really enjoy your video Marie! So much history and information. Knowing that you are fairly new to Seoul, you could tell you did your homework! Thank you!
Love getting to see all the cool stops along the way; shame a lot of places are empty. I do hope more stores will come in to draw attention and business, especially unique, independent stores. Keep having fun and exploring, Marie. God bless yours and you! :)
Thank you, Melissa!! I am happy that you enjoyed this video. I also hope that the vacant spaces can be filled with interesting businesses and shops. Thanks for watching my videos since the very beginning!!
Thanks for all the videos! I was going to Korea this summer but because of the situation right now it's not happening. Meanwhile, I have been watching your videos and taking notes! I hope to go soon!
Thank you for being so honest in your videos!...it really does help me plan out places that I should visit and which places I should steer clear of~!! Like always love you and your family 😍👍
Hi Anna, Thank you!! I'm so glad you liked this video and yes, I have to be honest... even though not everyone will necessarily agree with me, It's the kind of info I'd want to know. Every spot has its strengths and weaknesses, and everyone has their own preferences.
@@MariesKawaiiWorld I totally agree!! Sometimes when I watch other videos of the same areas I feel like they play it up on how it actually is like....so thank you for giving honest reviews~!! 👍👍👍👍
Great video, thanks. Do you know if Mafia Dessert opened somewhere else? About the pizza, thin crust is not Napolitan style, but it does look delicious.
Wow i wish i watched this video when i went to itaewon a while back! I tried Linus and was also a bit underwhelmed...hoping to go back and try some of these restaurants!
I am in love with these videos!! Awesome structure and editing. Pretty daughters and just a cool fam! Korea is awesome and all of my asian friends are thee absolute best. My bestfriend in highschool was Japanese and they are super super nice! Im happy to have had the experience to meet so many different ethnic groups.🦋🦋🦋 Keep it going and more prizes lol.🙄😁
Oh my! How long did you take to shoot this video? There is a ton of information. Amazing. Only someone living in Seoul can come out with such a detailed video. I visited went to Itaewon once to eat a gelato from Zucca. Is it popular in Seoul? I also visited American Mood for a philly steak, but I was not impressed. I will check out more of your videos to prepare my next trip to Seoul :-)
Omg, it took me forever to film this!! I had to visit a lot of restaurants and cafes. Poor me! ;) Thank you for noticing all the hard work and taking the time to leave a comment. I wanted to post it last week but I didn't have all the video footage I wanted to include. I have not been to either of those places, but things are always changing here, maybe it was popular when you visited!
Thanks for posting this! I'm visiting in April and have booked a hostel in Itaewon. When booking I didn't realise that it was such a expat area so was a bit worried as normally like to stay in non touristy areas. You've alleviated my fears a little!
Lol! You noticed!! She is one of my all time favorite people and my for sure my favorite Supreme Court Justice. I can only imagine what she is thinking about the newest guy. And that has been my favorite shirt ever since I got it. At first glance I thought you were talking about a neighborhood in Korea 😂
My sister gave my mom the RBG action figure for Christmas. She's the president of the resident's council at her retirement community...she brought RBG to the next meeting. The women loved it, the men not so much.
Thanks for this amazing video! Itaewon has so much potential to grow into one of the most popular neighborhood in korea, but greed by landlords are killing the neighborhood!
I'm kind of blown away from the prices of food at these restaurants. I'm from the states and not only the prices are bit lower but as always, our portions are bigger. When in Korea, stick to the local cuisine in my case.
Yes, I don't really recommend that American visitors come here for that reason. Foreign food especially American food tends to be expensive here. But if you live in Korea and are craving something, you have to pay the price.
i decided to check out itaewon yesterday for lunch so i watched this video. i ended up going to linus bbq despite the slightly negative review here because i felt like trying some bbq. parking was a pain because there was a huge festival going on but i did get parking at the city office. i've smoked a lot of brisket and baby back ribs in my day (mostly on my big green egg) and the bbq here wasn't excellent but it wasn't terrible either. it was "good enough" for my craving. the brisket could have used some more smokiness and it was a little dry. the pulled pork lacked flavor. the baby back ribs were good but a little too sweet. but again, i wasn't expecting perfection. i wanted to go try the matcha green tea tiramisu at mafia dessert but the festival was too crazy and i ended up getting sidetracked over there so missed it but hope to go next time. one of my favorite places is actually el pino 323. you passed by it when you were eating the mozzarella cheese hot dog. i like their bowls and tacos there! anyway, thanks for the great video on itaewon. thumbs up!
Thanks! I will have to check out El Pino next time I'm in Itaewon. I guess you have to take what you can get when it comes to American style BBQ in Seoul.
@@MariesKawaiiWorld Chef D over at el pino has an interesting background too. the tortilla bowls are pretty good. the tacos are good too but they are basically street tacos that i'm used to paying $1 for when i'm on vacation in cancun, mexico (or roughly the same place on the streets in LA) so it feels a little off to pay 12k-15k won for a plate of like 3 of them but oh well, they are good and authentic at least and like you said, you take what you can get. i've heard good things about an american style bbq place called aboutjins so i may try that someday.
Lol!! I think it's known for nightlife but I haven't gone out to a bar since I had Sienna 5 years ago. 😂 Maybe someone should do a video about the nightlife.
I didn't know what that was and googled it, and realized we have one at home!! Lol. My husband bought it online. It eventually gets flat though. I don't think I've ever seen it in stores.

Australian realestate is extremely expensive. Thanks for your videos btw! I’m going to Korea in April and have most of your vids in preparation!
Pho in the United States isn't exactly "United States pho". It's South Vietnamese style pho. Reason why it doesn't exist in Asia is because South Vietnam no longer exist in Asia. Vietnam, as a whole, fell to communism in the late 1970s when Saigon fell. Thus, Hanoi style or North Vietnam style pho is what is prevalent there now. And also, U.S. is probably the only place where you're safe saying "Saigon". If you utter it in Vietnam, you will immediately get reprimanded and sternly lectured - commie style - on how it is now Ho Chi Minh City.
I would like to say that Vietnamese people definitely still refer to Saigon as Saigon (on average, it would be foreigners who refer to it HCM City). Also in Southern Vietnam we eat the southern style pho which is different from the Ha Noi style. Ha noi style pho has different herbs and the meat is more of a "broken up" texture. The pho that you eat in California is most likely the southern style as it is the most popular and is the type you will see pop when you google it. In Vietnam, they also eat hoisin sauce. Sincerely, a viet person living in CA.
