I am a gay man who was living in a very abusive domestic relationship and ultimately survived a savage beating and subsequent hospitalization at the hands of my ex husband. I had no where to go. This was 15 years ago and I am now a Pharmacist and have a new loving partner. I don’t share this with anyone really. This takes me to tears thinking of that day when I thought he was going to end my life.I pressed charges and had to go to court and I was dismissed because I had no power or any friends because I wasn’t allowed to, but ultimately I won the case after years of back and forth with the law. I am now 40 years old and have my life in power. It still affects me to this day not going to lie. I applaud you Melanie Brown for having a voice for those who don’t. I love you Mel B. ❤
Very well said, I can totally relate… I’m now coming out of a very abusive marriage and I’m trying to find my way and I need help and want to tell my testimony… This subject needs to be told more because so many people are suffering…
Well done Mel... you are doing good work. Continue educating people as it is so important to raise awareness of this subject. Abusers do it bit by bit.. slowly slowly so you don't really know what is happening until you're fully in it..then it is to late as you are trapped/they manipulate you in any way they can.
Thank you Mel. You’re my favourite, always have been 🐝 Thank you for speaking up for the victims and survivors of DV, we see you, we appreciate you. I did puzzle when she said she’s ‘going to meet the queen’, the Queen RIP?… She meant Camilla 🤭 ofc!
@@BillyWebb-eu3cs seriously though man, what happened between Mel and Stephen Belafonte is well documented, with pictures and a divorce where it all spilled out. Just Google his name. Can someone explain how if it was as bad as she claims, why was the 'abuser' not arrested and charged? Why would she settle out of court, at huge cost to herself, instead of getting 'justice'? Why did she pay a settlement, lose custody of the child to the 'abuser', and end up paying child maintenance? I wonder what 'the abuser' has to say about the matter. All seems very odd.
I agree with you both, and its amazing how shes talking about the book again, when it came out in 2018. Its obvious shes needing money from the book, for her court fees, and ANOTHER Spice Girl Reunion! That of course will help with her court expenses.
Emotional and psichological abuse is not a crime yet. And she couldn't find the proof in court that he commited finantial abuse (they failed to prove that he was the one who withdrew the money from they're bank account, when she was robbed)
The support she pays now refers to the fact that she makes a lot of money, and he doesn't. They have a child together, so US law guarantees his rights as a father.
This violence against women is a nightmare..she is very brave talking about this issue. Still let's not forget..many woman do this to their Partner and their kids. Woman are equal monster but hide behind their holy Status as the mother can't do any wrong while they are monster just like those men.
False allegations of DV is used, or has been used in some (maybe many) cases, in Vic. Australia as a tool, in misconduct to achieve agendas, by agencies including RSPCA and Police, and courts do not check this. Police do not (despite what is claimed) always follow the guidelines and procedures and even have admitted (this was a sergeant) that if they did follow procedures they'd never put orders on anyone. By the time a target is falsely accused and lost everything and lawyers have also abandoned the target or otherwise just not tried to address the injustice, the target, or real victim, has a very damaged reputation, life, stolen property and pets, maybe dead pets, no family and no chance of employment, housing, or any semblance of their actual innocence or previous situation prior, loss of time with elderly relatives, further false allegations by the perpetrators pretending to be victims, no help from agencies and all or most agencies and police, courts to a large extent allegedly, despite supposed innocence until proven guilty, is seen and treated as guilty even where the evidence (including any BWCF or other witness testimony) shows they are innocent and the real victim. This happens (in general but not always from the above agencies and sometimes from relatives or partners) to men, allegedly AND women.
Maybe Mel should read more. Apparently the number of female and male victims of domestic violence are roughly equal. Erin Pizzey says the problem isn’t gender based but rather generational. But yeah, demonise men some more, Mel.
@@Smarterthanyew I think Erin Pizzey is more qualified than both of us in this matter. Look at what she says here on TH-cam regarding male victims of domestic violence.
@@Smarterthanyew There are degrees. But not enough exposure regarding male victims. I’d like facilities and resources to be available for ALL victims whatever their gender.
13.8% of men and 27.4% of women aged 16 to 74 have experienced some form of domestic abuse, equivalent to 2.9 million male victims and 5.9 million female victims. For every three victims of domestic abuse, two will be female, one will be male. One in four women and one in six to seven men suffer from domestic abuse in their lifetime.

To meet the queen?? Isn’t the queen dead? Does she mean Camila?
Yes, Camilla is the Queen now although she is the Queen Consort and not the Queen Regnant as was our late monarch Queen Elizabeth II.
