Pat passed away today, November1st 2021. RIP Pat. Wonderful tune, Jim Ridl on the piano intro and parts throughout this composition. He worked with Pat for many years. Amazing composer and arranger. That's why Pat worked with him. Check him out, he's is at it like fire to this day. Just saw him Friday night! These guys are the best of the best.

This is Rob , Debs husband.
Saw Pat about 5 times at Grendel's Lair in Philly, in the 70's, once with Bobby Rose playing tunes from Baiyaina.
Saw George Benson at Just Jazz in Philly with Pat in the audience about 1980, George took about a 4 minute solo on one of the tunes and if you closed your eyes you would have sworn it was Pat, you could tell they had a connection.
At a different venue in Philly, where Pat was playing , he called attention that Atilla Zollar was in the audience.
Saw Emily Remler in Gainesville Fl. at the Thomas Center, in the late 80's and afterward, she said one night she was playing in Philly, a few years before, Pat let her know he was interested in her.
Ran into Pete Townsend in 1980 at 3rd St. Rock and Jazz, the best record store in Philly then, owned by Jerry Gordon, who later partnered in Evidence Records.
After talking for about 1/2 hour, he asked me who I liked on Jazz Guitar, I told him to check out Pat Martino as he had a lot of Blues influence in his playing, he had not heard of him at this point.
Pete and I had a great conversation, he shared like an old friend.
Pats playing will always have a deep resonance in me.
Kurt Rosenwinkel is one of my favorites now.

the beauty of Pat's playing is in the singing quality; he seems to be able to put his entire being into the notes.
So a beautiful case of 'what you see is what you get'

It's amazing that the only guitarists 🎸 who criticize speed are ones who can't shred!
Playing fast is a God-given gift.
    Speed thrills!
    Can u dig it?😅
