Ferrucio Furnaletto é sem dúvida um dos melhores interpretes de "la calunia" não só pela magnífica voz como encarna o gesto, a expressão e até o acordo com a maneira de trajar do pelintra caluniador. Parabéns.
Mi ritengo FORTUNATO ad averlo ascoltato nel "Don Carlo" di Verdi. Qui rende un ottimo servizio al genio di Rossini

quando canta Furlanetto da anni io sento la vocalità del ''ubriacone'' ...
se mi ricordo bene negli anni 60 questo tipo di vocalità era poco consigliata...
Furlanetto cantava tutto il repertorio con la stessa vocalità durante tantissimi anni ...

La calunnia e' un "venticello"...stupendo brano lirico. Per di piu' comodo per il caldo"( battuta di 60 anni fa di Carlo Dapporto. Qualcuno in platea grido': È vecchia! e Dapporto replico': È vissuta assai.....

I've been singing along with this as I'm preparing for a concert, and it sounds like this is in the original key of D. Is this true?
it's not.. it is in C-Dur
No one really sings it in D as it is quite demanding!

I've seen baritones pitch it up to D, but I like the Furlanettos, Lloyds, et. al. do this!
The original key is D but such us an aria for bass usually the key signature is C , so it's perfect and suitable for a natural (authentic) bass's voice!
Agreed! Someone asked if it was in D in another comment, so I was clarifying that this version is in C. Outstanding performance by Furlanetto here!

Rossini wrote La calunnia in D major, but bassi who are incapable of sustaining the tessitura transpose it down to C major, as has been done here. However, Rossini wrote this opera for Rome, where the diapason was quite a bit lower than elsewhere. If it was as low as the Paris Opera, who tuned to A=392, it is possible that the original performance of La calunnia was far closer to what we would hear as C major, not D.

Furlanetto is sounding a bit rough and frayed around the edges....But thats to be expected. He ia no longer young and has alot of miles on his voice. Nevertheless- Great singer and interpretation!
