    Hi everyone, this video shows me installing my 3nm Antlia filters into the ZWO 7 position filter wheel, these are 36mm unmounted filters. With the help from Glenn from Astrobloke, I was able to get installed and attach the ZWO 2600mm camera. There will be a first light image to follow shortly!
    Thanks for watching and I hope someone has found this video useful, please like and subscribe to follow my mono transition from One Shot Colour!

    You got to be kidding, Simon ... first light and you're in perfect focus? Wow.
    Putting those filters in looks quite the challenge and rather scary ... then attaching the camera ... not for the faint of heart. But it appears you did everything right. It's great to have a friend like Glenn.

      Hey thanks Jason! Yeah I had to take the plunge, I was getting left behind 🤣 It was not an easy job but thanks to Glenn’s help it went ok in the end! I’m trying for first light tonight, but it’s just come over cloudy! Clear skies Jason 👍

    Hey well done getting those fiddly filters in safely. I have a shake at the best of times and it only intensifies when I'm getting stressed about tiny screws around expensive filters so, yep, I went straight for the 2inch - which I found stressful enough 🤣.

      @SimonsAstro  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks Logan! I’m beginning to wish I’d did what you did now! I’m a wreck🤣 especially when I dropped my screwdriver on the filter wheel ! Luckily no damage!! Just waiting for first light👍 Clear skies!

    Good to see you got them all in ok Simon, it's a bit of a headache. I pretty much had those same issues. Also not sure if you did but I ended up with a couple of screw hopes which I put some black electrical tape over just to stop any light leaks etc. Looking good pal, welcome to Mono 👍!

      Hey thanks Ollie! It was a bit of a headache! Yeah I will put some tape over the holes mate👍 Well I got my mono license, so I thought I’d go for it😀 Clear skies mate!

    I’m so excited, I just ordered my first goto mount, it’s not at your level, it’s an EQM-35 with the hand controller. I’m retired so my wife has me on a budget 😉 I only have a Z61 anyway and can only dream of things like a tracking scope. Hopefully I can share an image some day. Cheers.

      Hey Woody, that’s fantastic to hear, it’s a great hobby and a goto mount is a game changer! Good luck with that! I’m retiring in about 5 years so I’m buying all my gear now while I’m earning 😀 Would like to see an image of yours one day 👍 Clear skies!

    Great video Simon, I have the 2600MM and the 2-inch filter wheel which I have had for a few weeks now. Your video is going to be helpful for when I start to assemble everything. Good luck with the imaging and hopefully clear skies will prevail.

      I believe 2" is mounted and you won't have the same issues that unmounted filters have (i.e. you can't put them upside down).

    • @SimonsAstro
      @SimonsAstro  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@larryfine4719 You’re right Cameron, you can’t get them wrong! The only thing is, you need a 2”filter wheel and 2” filters which cost a lot more money than the 36mm versions!
      Thanks for watching & Clear Skies 👍

    • @stephencox3446
      @stephencox3446 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Cameron Hamilton-Rich Yes, thanks for that. I had no problem with these filters as they were the screw in type. All done now.

    Nice rig. Some tips to improve balance and guiding- squish your counterweights together instead of spread out. This will reduce the moment of inertia for tracking. Also, invest in an oag- this will allow you to remove the guidescope thus reducing the moment of inertia again, plus avoid flexure in the guide scope, all improvements in design for the cost of an oag. However, if you add an oag I doubt you'd get perfect focus first go again ;)

    • @SimonsAstro
      @SimonsAstro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for the tips Graig! I’ve been thinking about an OAG lately, I’m building another rig at the moment (EAF, Power box advance etc) so will probably get one later on👍 That focus was a fluke 🤣 Clear skies

    Nice video again Simon! I was very close to buy Antlia filters but felt a little bit stingy and went for Optolongs instead. We use exactly the same "blow thing" btw!

    Nice video Simon, you have a lot of patience, particularly when you had to undo one of the filters. I’m thinking of going mono, (though deterring to 2024, next year Milky Way wide angle will be my new learning) but probably 2 inch mounted to make this easier, though they are so pricy! Clear skies, Ian

    • @SimonsAstro
      @SimonsAstro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ian, mono will make a great difference! I think the 2” filters would have been easier, however, as you said, they are quite a bit more expensive! Good Uk with your Milky Way wide angle👍 Clear skies!
