Nature documentaries set in the city observing man. "This is a middle aged, recently divorced worker bee. The pain of his recent failure has led him here [pause] the local strip club."
Also neat observation: the hit/block effects are design to be very easily distinguishable to help with hit confirming. The visual effect for hits is orange while the block effect is blue; these are complementary or opposite colors. The audio cue is high pitched for hits and low pitched for blocks.
Three years later and still useful. Lots of beginner guides I've seen just immediately start teaching you confirm moves to even explain what they are for
When you first start practicing hit confirms it will feel impossible, as if your rate of properly confirming is no better than random chance. Then you go through a stage where your confirms may even be less consistent than random and you'll wonder how that's possible, and if you're meant to play fighting games at all. Then you'll start to see progress and feel the code of the matrix flow through you as you begin confirming at a rate higher than average. It's during this phase where it starts to feel physically good in your head as your brain rewires itself and gives you little chemical rewards for achieving a new skill. Then you'll get to the phase where you can confirm correctly 10/10 times, and you know you're ready to wreck shop.
New Ken player here, watching a lot of pro Ken player matches, including a lot of yours. I have to say , you are one of the best at hit confirming. Another thing I really like is your composure during matches. Learning a lot from you, thanks!
So far i knew everything you taught in the play like the pros series. But i still watch them just to make sure there's nothing else I've missed. Very well explained
Sajam recommended your vods on stream and gotta say videos like these got real good stuff for beginners in literally any fighting game, they're on point
Amazing, best high level tutorial for SFV I've ever seen done by a pro player! So well done, this series deserve so much more views, and we all should thank Infexious for this awesome work!
I have seen so many pro-gamer doing such tutorial video but I think Infexious is the best among all of them, no doubt. I learned a lot from those videos.
I like how you pronounced "dummy" It's worth mentioning buffering would help alot in hit confirming. Keep this content coming, I wish I had these when I started playing.
True, the only thing is I didn't want to introduce too many new concepts in this video. But I will be covering buffering in future videos, stay tuned 👍🏾
"True block strings" and "charging meter whiffing and meter optimal combos" are things that I've heard, I kind of get it but others might never heard about it
I’d like to see Delaying throw tech on wake up training, also delaying your pressure to beat delay throw tech training . Great lessons! You’re of if my favorite players to watch!
This guide was very helpful for me, thanks infexious. I ended up practicing my meaty timing as well at the same time by using the recoveries after the combo to practice the timing. Two birds with one stone!
Infexious, u are a saint. Even if some of us already have some sort of raw idea about these concepts, its always nice to have a pro to help us anchor these concepts, reassure and give us confidence that we're training properly. Huge props!
Can you talk about Option Select? How do you identify a scenario to create one? That's one thing I see many players doing, but I don't know how to create one. Thanks man!
I think when I started sf5 concepts like these where foren to me, playing a bit of tekken and watching a lotta old tutorial videos now, it all makes sense. Maybe some of it
Champ, I don't know how it's taken me this long to like and subscribe to your channel, but I have now! Also I'd love to see a video on how to read throws and tech reliably. It's one of my weakest areas (and I'm not that great to begin with!)
These videos are really great. I don't really have criticism because these are really great as it is. Easy to watch, easy to understand. A perfect tutorial from a professional that really understands the mechanics. That being said, I do have suggestion, should you be interested to take it into consideration. While these are great explanations, I feel that maybe some real match examples would be effective. It can kinda give the advice a bit more clarity on how important these skills really are. For this kind of video, I think the obvious player to showcase would be Punk, considering his insane and consistent hit confirms make his game play what it is. It might make it a bit more tedious in editing and its not 100% necessary, so take it as you will.
Usually, the best way to use it is by using a medium followed by a light normal. If the first hit hit, then you just automatically continue with your combo. What I like to do is either introducing additional 3f trap or option selects like command grab or throws if the opponent block the sequence.
Man I love your tutorial videos, it is very well explained with slow footage which helps a lot. You cover all those techs that is kind of "hidden" to beginner players. Precious content especially for who wants to start with SFV! I have an request though! Would love to hear from you about Option select? In especial the backdash throw OS?
Maybe a video about waking up? I notice that a lot of players having difficult time knowing which wake up recovery to use, so do I sometimes. Like, when to do no recovery? Or when to do back recovery. And what advantages or disadvantages it gives? Thanks.
thanks for this... i've been playing Street fighter for years i've struggled with hit confirming for so damn long. I get to anxious and hit buttons when i'm not supposed to...annoying..thanks for the video.
This is the hardest thing for me to learn. What helped me though recently is reverting my expectations. Basically, I was initially expecting a block but reacting to a hit with a combo, but now I am expecting a hit but reacting to a block by stopping my attack. This is probably not helpful to anyone else, but this "mind trick" worked for me.
Thanks! Just picked up SF5 a few weeks ago and am getting my ass whooped by bronze (gotta start somewhere, right?). Might take me some time to build up some skill, but these tutorials really help point me in the right direction.
It was only indirectly mentioned but I can see people new to hit confirming have trouble realizing that the reason you do 2 normal attacks before cancelling into a special is to give yourself more time to hit confirm the first attack.
Thanks Infexious! Been struggling with this and trying to figure out how quickly to buffer the motions to cancel into a special. Would it be possible to maybe discuss how pros decide how to play a matchup and what are they looking at to make that decision? I have trouble with understanding when pros say a matchup is 6-4, or 5-5. If it's too much, don't worry about. Thanks again for all these videos Infexious!
Love these videos !!! Great information...applied all these tech videos into my game play and have improved so much. A great video idea could be how to properly delay your buttons / how to beat delayed tech . Thanks again ! Looking forward to the next one 😁👍👍
Reacting to continue the combo when the hit is confirmed and not to continue the combo when the hit is not confirmed is very hard but can be done overtime. I wish we have your videos before. Thanks!
Well let's not forget that this takes a ton of practice and good reflexes, and as an older fellow myself, I may not be as sharp as I was when I was younger, as it's a known fact that the older you get the more your reflexes slow down.
Can I use some of this same information in other fighting games? Like GranBlue for instance? I know it won’t be exactly the same, but this info seems rather universal and really helpful.
If this fighting games thing ever dies down, nature documentaries.
Yeah~ Agree!
Damn you are right. His voice is so soothing!
XDDD Nailed it.
.. and now, over here, we're going to paint a happy little Tatsu where the low forward connected... "
Nature documentaries set in the city observing man. "This is a middle aged, recently divorced worker bee. The pain of his recent failure has led him here [pause] the local strip club."
Each time Infexious sais "you will be able to play like the pros" I believe him so hard.
Yeah! Practice make perfect. Besides, his voice is so nice and give you a lot of confidence.😎
@@tyty0071 Don't be discourage. Let's keep practice and Believe in ourselves. Shake off nervous 🤗
I dont even want to play like a pro i just want diamond league
@@thiagovieira2177 Aaaa.. I believe you can reach diamond level if you keep practicing and stay calm during rank match. Don't give up!
@@Stremphoenix Thanks man, i need to get good at some hit confirming meaties, this video is helpful hope i get it "mastered" quick
I love this "Play Like the Pros" videos, 6 minutes top and full of information, also your voice man, sounds like a good teacher from college
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Musashi is the best
His voice reminds me of thatcher from rainbow 6 for some reason
@@anotherinternetperson8495 it’s the accent
Also neat observation: the hit/block effects are design to be very easily distinguishable to help with hit confirming. The visual effect for hits is orange while the block effect is blue; these are complementary or opposite colors. The audio cue is high pitched for hits and low pitched for blocks.
My man has buttery smooth voice good enough to be a stand in for a david attenborough.
If I heard Infexious every morning say, "The Snooze button is not your friend!" I'd be the most productive human...
Infexious' voice is crazy smooth. This man can make the steps to making a peanut butter sandwich sound cool. Awesome tutorial, appreciate the tips!
Three years later and still useful. Lots of beginner guides I've seen just immediately start teaching you confirm moves to even explain what they are for
This dude should be the international standard for how to make virtual lessons during corona quarantine.
When you first start practicing hit confirms it will feel impossible, as if your rate of properly confirming is no better than random chance.

I confirm that.
I'm trying so hard to learn SF. The hit confirms are impossible for me right now
The more time you set aside to practice them the better you will get! Keep it at
Im a silver Balrog and down heavy punch feels impossible to confirm to hard upper, the window is tight af but i know times i can down fierce tho
Best way i learned hit confirms is the sound when you connect a hit it sounds different hope this helps someone else.
At this point capcom should just give up on tutorials and just link to my man over here
New Ken player here, watching a lot of pro Ken player matches, including a lot of yours. I have to say , you are one of the best at hit confirming. Another thing I really like is your composure during matches. Learning a lot from you, thanks!
I would've NEVER thought to look at the stun bar while trying to hit confirm. Good advice
Cover buffering and practical uses.
So far i knew everything you taught in the play like the pros series. But i still watch them just to make sure there's nothing else I've missed. Very well explained

Yo,you are a inspiration for a 37 year old member of the FGC. Keep doing yours. UK love.
It took awhile for the algorithm to show your videos to me, but it seems to be spreading your content so keep it up!
This is the best video I have ever watched on a hit confirm. I always thought it was something so much more. Amazing! Thank you!
I still cant believe the tactical depth of this game and you explain it so well and concise, an awesome insight into high level play!
Awesome totorials in the last few weeks
Thumbs up'd for the increased audio volume. Much appreciated. Also videos are good. I'm going to watch them all.
I like how you pronounced "dummy"

Finally, a thorough breakdown
This dude is like the Bob Ross of Street Fighter. The joy of fighting.
"True block strings" and "charging meter whiffing and meter optimal combos" are things that I've heard, I kind of get it but others might never heard about it
I always wondered what is a hit confirm, i had some idea but now i understand, great video infexious
best videos about street fighter on internet
I’d like to see Delaying throw tech on wake up training, also delaying your pressure to beat delay throw tech training . Great lessons! You’re of if my favorite players to watch!
Something on what you buffer and what you are confirming as zeku would be awesome :)
Can you do a video on how to improve defense? I fall apart as soon as someone gets me in the corner.
This guide was very helpful for me, thanks infexious. I ended up practicing my meaty timing as well at the same time by using the recoveries after the combo to practice the timing. Two birds with one stone!
The official UK narrator voice ya dig!!

Man I hope you still doing these videos, as fighting games are a really hard type of game to get into, this helps a lot!
Can you talk about Option Select? How do you identify a scenario to create one? That's one thing I see many players doing, but I don't know how to create one. Thanks man!

Copy option selects u see players use of your character, i steal tech from watching pro Balrogs
I finally understood what hit confirm is! Thank you so much for the video!
I think when I started sf5 concepts like these where foren to me, playing a bit of tekken and watching a lotta old tutorial videos now, it all makes sense. Maybe some of it
This is what Infexious sounds like?! I would have never been able to tell because I've seen his game face
Thanks for the guide helped a lot !
This is very well done tutorial.

Oh can you do one about when to press buttons and the mind games behind poking, especially after defending against opponents blockstrings?
loved this, amazing explanation, thank you! Subscribed!
thanks for this... i've been playing Street fighter for years i've struggled with hit confirming for so damn long. I get to anxious and hit buttons when i'm not supposed to...annoying..thanks for the video.
You've got a very soothing voice.
Where were you before.. luv your tutorials.
I feel like I just watched a BBC documentary
Looking forward to see the "HOW TO BUFFER"
This was quality advice. Well laid out and nicely executed
This is the hardest thing for me to learn.

Definitely helps! I practiced this method as well
Beast tutorial! Gonna practise those single hit confirms now
It is nice to see Sir David Frederick Attenborough is now doing games
Now I know how to practice hit confirm. Thanks!!
Great content, I love these types of educational vids
Thanks you! Already liked the video, subscribed to the channel coz I enjoyed.
Thank you so much for this, these are really helpful. I will start practicing them tonight.
Such a relaxing video
This is a great video keep up the good work bro 👍
Master Infexious...excellent video, now time to lab it!
You could make 10 hours of fighting game explanation and I will watch it.. just such a smooth voice..
Thanks! Just picked up SF5 a few weeks ago and am getting my ass whooped by bronze (gotta start somewhere, right?).
Might take me some time to build up some skill, but these tutorials really help point me in the right direction.
Great vid, for some hit confirm is good to use the stun meter and also the sound, the RT is faster on auditory than visual stimula
It was only indirectly mentioned but I can see people new to hit confirming have trouble realizing that the reason you do 2 normal attacks before cancelling into a special is to give yourself more time to hit confirm the first attack.
Dommy 😂🤣

Been trying single hit & multi for five years, and it's been tricky.
Maybe I'll do more training practice & it'll help. Thanks.
Really appreciate these videos man.
Love these videos !!! Great information...applied all these tech videos into my game play and have improved so much. A great video idea could be how to properly delay your buttons / how to beat delayed tech . Thanks again ! Looking forward to the next one 😁👍👍
How does this tie into footsies? How do you know when it's safe to throw out the first hit confirm attack?
Reacting to continue the combo when the hit is confirmed and not to continue the combo when the hit is not confirmed is very hard but can be done overtime. I wish we have your videos before. Thanks!
Would be nice to have a list of one-hit confirmable moves.
sfvsim.com/diff is a great tool that has this information, but it can be tricky to navigate. There's a TH-cam tutorial by the person who created it 👍🏾
Should make a follow up "How to hit confirm on a laggy monitor" for Punk.
infexious you have the radio voice bro
Love this tutorial! Thanks for the upload. Practice make perfect😍
Well let's not forget that this takes a ton of practice and good reflexes, and as an older fellow myself, I may not be as sharp as I was when I was younger, as it's a known fact that the older you get the more your reflexes slow down.
Wow! Awesome videos! 👏👏👏
these videos are amazing
Thank you for another excellent video! These are awesome!
Great video keep it up 👍🏽
