      I mean that's gonna happen when a Jordan 3 rims out, Reggie gets away with the push of all pushes on his game winning 3 and then this happened. The league almost gifted them the 3 wins. At least if you look at this game with how they call it now.

      @@kingking8768 Bunch of stiffs, are you kidding me? That's arguably the best Pacers team in history, voted as such by the fans themselves. Reggie and Mullin were great shooters and Hofers, Smits was a good 2-way center with a solid midrange(he even shot 11/12 this game), Dale Davis and Antonio Davis were pesky interior defenders and great rebounders, Mark Jackson was a very underrated PG(5th all time in assists) who ran the offense(Pippen guarded him nearly the entire series to disrupt the flow of their game), Derrick Mckey was one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and Jalen Rose was a 25 year old SG who provided help from the bench. Larry Bird was the coach of the year and this Pacers were top 5 in defensive and offensive ratings. That was the most well balanced Pacers team ever. They were certainly deeper than the Bulls, that were the oldest team in the league and dealing with a multitude of injuries, but the Bulls's experience and grit prevailed.

    I know how this playoffs ended and I know how his career ended but humor me for those that remember this game. The next day were the sports talk shows, sports talk radio, sports news print discussing how MJ didn't come through in the clutch of this 4th quarter. 2 missed jumpshots in under a minute and the game losing turnover? What a time to be alive smh.

    • @firstgenerationmillionaire9232
      @firstgenerationmillionaire9232 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I do remember. It was more radio than tv talk shows but they talked about him missing and questioned if the bulls could pull it off. Most deduced that since they had seen him miss game winners before they knew he was going to kill the next game. He had a reputation for taking failure personally and wanting to prove something the next time he played the team he failed against. Him missing clutch shots was the exception not the rule. And if I’m not mistaken he took the blame for the loss and said it wouldn’t happen the next game.

      Thank you ! The skip Bayless crew never remember the NUMEROUS times Mr Jordan failed , or shot 5 of 23 , or ball hogged his way to never winning ANYTHING until he had Scotty and Phil and the absolute best team in the league. He never lead inferior teams to the finals like LeBron, Iverson , Kidd , ect.. MJ is the most overrated player in basketball history. I actually remember the 80s people and Jordan was just a ball hogging scorer with a ton of flair. BTW he was gifted the dunk contest in Chicago where he did the same dunk twice on 2 different occasions while Dominique threw down incredible 2 foot power dunks never repeating same dunk. Michael deserves his flowers but people over do by acting like he never failed. His 6 for 6 with 6 mvps was when he had the BY FAR best team in league and probably the second best player in the league for all 6. He was amazing but putting him over Kareem and Russell just out of hand is not realistic. Sorry.

Plus if the bulls don’t win 6 or even 4 we don’t look at the bulls like they had all these great players. And they don’t win without Jordan. Go see how many players on the bulls were all stars without Jordan. You will find only 2 or 3 at best. No one even wanted Rodman to when they got him! Regardless Jordan was the best winner. Michael is the reason why SO MANY 90s GREATS don't have a single championship. They obviously ended up winning Game 7 and then won the 1998 Finals, keeping Reggie Miller, Stockton, and Malone all ringless. Just a massive basketball force

  • @gumaming

    Epic series indeed, Game 7 was even better it was such a struggle. I think that Pacers team could have won it all if they knocked off the Bulls. 2 years later they finally made the NBA finals and pushed the Lakers to the limit.

    That was a smart move by Mackie at the end to take his hands down so Jordan could not use him to get to the basket.
    That's what cause him to lose his balance and fall. He was about to use Mackie's hands to waive around him.
    Go back and take a look.
    Even the commentators noticed it.

    I believe this was the toughest team MJ's Bulls ever faced in the playoffs. From 91-98 (not counting the retirement years), I never went into a series even nervous that the Bulls could lose, except one series...this one. This was the only series in all those years I actually felt nervous. Not because I thought the Pacers were better; it was just the first time in all those years I felt the Bulls were playing someone that could beat them in a best of 7. It was intense.

    • @user_7482
      @user_7482 ปีที่แล้ว

      This isn't the best team the Bulls faced. That would be the 93 suns, 97 jazz, and 96 Sonics. The Bulls just weren't as good in 1998 as previous years thus having their most difficult match up.

      @@user_748293 Suns, sure, if only they didn't leave Paxson open they would force game 7 and probably win
      97 Jazz, maybe, they tied the series 2-2 and got robbed of a game 7 because the refs didn't call the Pippen goaltending
      96 Sonics, also very good they just faced a 3-0 deficit and lost when they had to play in Chicago
