Have a ever smoked in my life? No. Do I intend to smoke ever in my life? Not in any form ever. Did I click on the video before, and now this update anyway? Absolutely. I’m very proud of you Jack and you and your cat continue to brighten my life. Thank you for sharing this journey with all of us, it’s very noble of you.

That was the hardest part after I quit. It's been 24 years and I still occasionally crave a smoke with my coffee.
Seriously proud of you for quitting! 🎉

Haven’t smoked in like 30 years, can’t stand the smell, but every once in a great while, I’d smell one that made me wish I still smoked. That hasn’t happened in 5 years or so, thankfully.

7 years and I still get cravings too. Quit drinking alcohol around the same time and I never have a craving for that though.

Don't feel bad about wanting a cigarette. I quit in January of 2009 after 23 years of smoking, and I still catch myself every now and then thinking, about having a cigarette. Just keep going one day at a time! You got this!❤

"Who enjoys cardio?" Hi, it's me 😂 Former distance runner - cardio is great, trying to convince myself to lift is a STRUGGLE. I find getting outside and listening to podcasts makes it go so much faster - worth trying when the weather warms up.
I'm so glad you're doing well and starting to feel like yourself again. I was lucky enough to see you at TST and you (all) were incredible.

i just lost my Mom, a lifelong smoker, to a lung cancer that metastasized. she was 59. im proud of you for quitting, and i know she would be too. she tried several times to quit but the circumstances never worked out well, and the damage stacks up.
You will be able to continue cracking whips and jokes for so much longer without the death sticks!

I started intermittent fasting at the same time you released your last diary (a coincidence), but your video couldn't have come at a better time and gave me a huge boost to my motivation. Just seeing someone else working through their bad habits, stumbling and then picking themselves up again, it was reassuring to see someone as mighty as Jacques Ze Whipper going through this. So I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this side of yourself with us

Try substituting a normal piece of gum (big red, trident, etc) in place of the nicotine gum, and maybe slowly you can stop the nicotine gum😊 It will give your mouth something to do in the interim until the next piece of nicotine gum. Cause let's be real, the oral fixation is probably 50% of the battle. Keep going, you got this😁

I know this is a totally random thing to latch onto, but there's no shame in however late anyone (including you!) decides to sleep til. It's not a mark of laziness, it's not some low morality thing. But especially, IT IS NOT LAZINESS. I say this as someone who's been shamed for late sleeping all my life, and I'm tired of it. We weren't all gifted with fantastic "I only need 6 hours of sleep" genes. My body was gifted with the need for 10-12 (and yes, internet, I've gone to a sleep doctor and am on cpap. Hasn't changed anything. It's mostly hormonal).
Anyway. Just a tender spot. :P I'm proud of you for still chugging along! You're doing great!

If you are missing the tactile response of one in your hand..I found a cheap and easy replacement. A plastic ( non-bendy) straw is the same weight and can be used to satiate the physical feel that may be missing.

I techincally quit 3.5 years ago when my son was born had a few relapses did end up smoking for a few weeks on the down low maybe a year in and quit again. then ive had a few intermittantly i took a puff probably 6 months ago after not having one for several months and was like i dont really want this set it down and forgot about it and havent had one since. walking past my coworkers toolboxes and seeing a pack everyday tickles my fancy but its more of a i miss smoking not hey i need a cig.
Keep up the good work it does get easier wih time. Im definitely invested in following your journey so be sure to keep us posted

I smoked for 25 years. The last few I had switched to vaping while dialing back the nicotine. I've been completely off everything for a few years now. The hardest part was breaking the rituals. Wake up....smoke. Eat lunch....smoke. Before bed....smoke. Congrats on your progress. The craving never completely goes away, but it does get a lot easier to ignore. I like to remember how good a nice medium-rare steak tasted a couple of months after quitting. That alone is enough to never pick up a cigarette again.

One of the hardest things to do -- it took the doctor saying, "You won't be alive in two months if you keep smoking." That was said to my mother after 55 years of smoking before she finally quit after having tried to quit for years.

Becoming disgusted by the smell, if it's something you want, is not something that will happen on its own. It's something you have to actively condition your brain to do.
When I was quitting, I had to make a conscious choice whenever I smelled it to force a somatic reaction of disgust.

oh, I also have the eye twitch, but for me it is a stress indicator. It is so annoying! As is cardio. I recently got a mini trampoline and since then, for the first time EVER, cardio (or working out at home) has been ...fun?! You supposedly have the same benefits in a quicker time (10mins jumping is like 30 mins of running or something) and you can listen to unhinged songs while doing it and just let some stress go. I am still working on doing it regularly, so hearing you and Ses being so damn accountable helps me with being motivated - so thank you for sharing

It *will* be worth it in the end. I promise. Hardest thing ever tho. The drive to FL will be a trial but you can do it! At this point it’s probably not the nicotine but the habit, the mental & emotional crutch. Stay strong & remember the support you have and your strength. (I keep hearing Rob Schneider in my head saying “You can do it!”)

When my stepdad finally decided he could make the effort to quit, it didn't take long for him to a: find his sense of smell was better (he was a chain smoker, so 2 or 3 packs a day), and b: realize how much money he had to spend on other things as a result. Both he, and my father had multiple bouts with cancer, so between that, and my nerd habits, I have no desire to ever smoke.
You can do this, you just need to set your resolve, and keep in mind whatever is motivating you to quit. Heck, I say put money in a jar daily, amounting to what you would have spent in cigs, and see how far that gets you!

I smoked for years and I feel you on every trigger you mention. I also wanted to have a smoke while gaming. I used to LARP for Vampire the Masquerade, and a big part of that was "secret meetings" which were always outside and the perfect time for a smoke.
I will say I started smelling smoke all the time, so that's a thing. But to this day I will go outside with my friends who still smoke and "second hand" with them.

So your comments about standing next to people smoking made me laugh. Funny I don't even know the brand I like but the once in a blue moon that I smell it I'm following that person around 😂😂.
