Just a few FYI's for first timers trying to tackle this at home... @2:57 theres supposed to be a heat shield that sits right above that right side tie rod bellow, looks like yours is missing.. Anyway, theres really no way you'd have enough room to work if u didnt move the steering rack forward a bit (I see midway that u eventually had to do so lol I dnt move it THAT far forward but I guess that works too.. n dnt worry it doesn't mess with ur alignment) Now, for those who do still have that heat shield, no need to remove all 3 bolts - just remove the one t20 bolt that's visible on it's own n push it out of the way to make room @6:43 the connectors for the downstream o2 sensors wont let u plug in the wrong way so theres really no way to get them backwards @31:19 if the dp is touching the heat shield here, then its most likely the "rattle" that your describing at the end of the video.. that and/or the e-torq bolt that's a mm from touching the dp coupled with the sound of wastegate rattle being more pronounced now that ur catless.. unless u finesse the positioning perfectly, theres really no way around this cuz the new DP's are just bigger in diameter..
Just a heads up regarding your final thoughts about losing torque and gaining HP at the top end...if you remap to account for the loss in backpressure you can actually feed more timing and the bottom end loss will be almost negligible (you might even be able to gain a bit). Just tick the "aftermarket DP" setting when you flash a map in MHD and reset your adaptations and the ECU will relearn to account for the changes.
Oh my friend I haven't yet watched anything of the video but I have watched all the mods you have done so far. The intercooler was a pain for you I know (Should have gone for the OEM "C" Clamping style) Sorry now I'm a prick. LOL. Anyway my car is the "Xdrive" (Yes you NEED to order "XDrive" DP's. Ask me how I know Grr) so I HAD to drop the whole front subframe and take off the one side engine mount as well as the one side axle mount. GRR. Then I broke a Subframe Bolt!! Oh man what a PAIN! SO yours should be much better and not as nasty as the intercooler......I hope. I'm on your side! Thank you again for the hard work in bring us all this great content!
Don't complain about lack of space to work until you've done this on a RHD with the steering rack in the way. The v band's are impossibly hard to get back on the stock dp's too.
Yeah for the steering rack I also don't think it does much alignment wise. I remove it all the time. The V brace though I don't remove it and have enough space.
Love watching your videos, i have a 2002 BMW X5 thats full of gremlins but i'm fixing it up... You had a video on ignition coils misfiring and encountered a loud Buzzing like a Power Station when key is in ignition.. did you ever find out what cause that? Mine is coming from my Starter area, and i'm getting 000090 IKE Terminal 15 Voltage Supply Faulty
Can anyone help?? I have an E60 535xi, completely stock with no problems. The emissions facilities cannot connect to my car. ISTA, INPA and regular scan tools work fine
Did mine and I can’t stand the gas smell all up in the cabin especially if you have the ac. Idk how people can stand that all day gives me a headache. And it’s definitely loud and not a good loud. The stock sounds way better. Dp make it sound like some cheap stuff or straight pipe. I wonder if mine has a leak. And yes it rattles a little but I been told it’s the wastegate you can here it more. Also it hits the subframe especially when turning
Hmm something must be wrong then. N54 has a second set of downpipes so you don't really smell gas. I do indeed think you may have a leak because a leak there will make the smells go up the cabin.
People like me would remove it cuz we have large hands and wrists, it is what it is...good video....I'd add that not all parts from China are terrible some of them are decent quality and have good fitment always read the reviews
Are you getting a cel? I'm running jb4 and I'm about to get my downpipes installed. Do I need a bef or can I just run with one of the maps from jb4 itself no bef? Will it performed like it should?
I installed vrsf 3" catless downpipes last summer and aside from reinstalling the v-bands it was very straight forward. But those v-bands probably took me 2 hours of fiddling and cursing to get back on. Lol.
hey, 50. I just change the VANOS sprocket on my 2013 E70 X5. I've checked my timing serval times and i'm good. But I did remover the battery at some point and the car was completely dead. now it wont start.
#50sKid It's surreal to me that you're on N54 chapter now, long time viewer, much love and respect to you brother 👊, Downpipes is a must with these badboys, Godbless.
16:08 Wow being that the snail was right beside the down pipe I'd think it must now be Escargot. Way over cooked but cooked none the less LOL. I'm going to tell this but it's NOT a recommendation! So please don't do as I have done unless you're willing to take a risk and very possibly LOSE out! SO I bought my charge pipe which came with the Blow off valve as well as my stepped 5 inch OEM "C" clamp intercooler AND my Xdrive version Down Pipes and Chinese replica Walboro 460 LPH in tank fuel pump as well as my up graded 17T turbos with 2 inch inlets from.......EBAY! And I'm so very sorry to tell you that everything fit and everything is still working after between 1 year to 2 years (I bought the turbos a year later when I could afford them). BUT that doesn't mean everything for everyone will fit and will work when buying from EBAY. as well. DO NOT expect all of the sellers to stand behind their products. Ebay has a fairly good return policy BUT you must be ready to pay for return shipping and sometimes not even get any actual warranty!! I did a HUGE amount of research before ordering anything!! As well I was very patient and waited and watched the others that ordered parts to see if things broke or not or fit or not. I also found out what companies or which fake named companies people had ordered from. I must give a huge shout out to "Zero to 60" for all the crazy testing they did and their pain was my gain!! "50's Kid" is a excellent!! Superior and one of a kind quality channel and I would NEVER take anything away from his work or advice!!
Regarding the rattling, is it just audible rattling or vibration rattling? If just audible and lowers as it warm up a bit, it's 100% the wastegate rattle. The stock pipes are dual walled so you don't hear it much but yeah when I installed mine you definitely hear the wastegate rattle. But yeah, if you don't put a appropriate tune with the downpipes like MHD stage2 I think that's why for the lack of torque perhaps.
I want in my next vehicle to be an X5 somewhere between 2004 actually 2005-2009 I noticed that some people are selling them cheap it's either because of the fuel pump problem or the transfer case I want saw you do a X5 on your friends vehicle how did it come out to the work if you had any problem with it
Will MHD tune solve that issue with the torque? I'm looking to do the same on my E92 and is my understanding that you can loose that without the tune so wondering if MHD will make any difference with that
Hi @50skid would you be interested on working together and manual swapping my car? I live in LA it be a honor to work with you been watching you since i got my e46 4 years ago
Hey love the videos i just got a 323i 2000 but the coolant hoses under the intake i guess there called hvac but running into issues with the wires and vacuum lines can you suggest a good site for images of the or videos on reinstalling everything plus do you know cheap sites for parts i need window motors and tracks and worst issue is steering column guy lost the key and he rigged it up so its a nightmare but im enjoying it but i follow your videos like gor the cvt i think thats what its called oh sorry for the rambling thanks
Put your cats back on, stop spewing out NOx emissions, especially as you say, you drive around in a big city all day. That's where acid rain comes from. Also contributes to lung disease.
fcp euro "LIFETIME GURANTEE" $103 1-3 upstream $175 tho 4-6 down streams are cheaper $70-$30. how ever rock auto has the cheapest up stream sensors but of corse no lifetime replacement!!
I bought an e46 bc of this gentleman here, now im on my way to getting a e90 ❤️
You see when two turbo snails love eachother very much, they can make a baby snail

fyi disconnect the o2 s 1st b4 shaking or vibrating the exhaust bolts in any way w a power tool!! the Power shaking can cause 02 failure
i would love to see a POV type of video of you driving ur e90 . or a walk around video
Oh my friend I haven't yet watched anything of the video but I have watched all the mods you have done so far. Been watching for years you dope af🙌🏾
AliExpress car parts. Rolling the dice there Jason!
He's taking one for the team

Thank you for quality content you provide. I'm still looking forward to hearing your feedback on inlets upgrade coming soon, I hope ?
the last 3 minutes were the best!
Yeah for the steering rack I also don't think it does much alignment wise. I remove it all the time. The V brace though I don't remove it and have enough space.
Yeah u should of go with mhd
jb4 is old technology now
Or can do a mhd back end flash

I cannot get my v bands to attach to the turbo
Maybe a different tune for downpiprs will make a difference
You should do oil catch can video 👍
Running a risk of not passing California visual smog check by removing cats?
More than a visual check. You’ll never pass a computer check with missing cats either. I will swap back in 2 years
#50sKid It's surreal to me that you're on N54 chapter now, long time viewer, much love and respect to you brother 👊, Downpipes is a must with these badboys, Godbless.
Use o2 sim…
Would it still pass emissions going catless?

Lost alot weight I see... Hope all is good with you...
My be if you get it tuned it will feel better
Will MHD tune solve that issue with the torque? I'm looking to do the same on my E92 and is my understanding that you can loose that without the tune so wondering if MHD will make any difference with that
Stock you lose power but MHD with fox that
Replaced and now have check engine code P0041 .Help
You have the connections for the sensors swapped. Plug them in the right way.
Let me guess your going to put the stock cats back on in 2 years😮😮😅😂😂 i got a smog guy
Hi @50skid would you be interested on working together and manual swapping my car? I live in LA it be a honor to work with you been watching you since i got my e46 4 years ago
I’m afraid I don’t have the time to take on a remote project like that. Thanks though

Same happened here, bought MGA performance downpipes which are basically Chinese garbage sold by some dude in internet
