- If I ever do bottle calves again, they will be on Nurse cows. I will discuss all of that in a later video, but I just thought I would let you guys know I will probably never raise a calf "on the bottle" for quite a few years!

Yes I will still be posting, and the next thing I will do is probably raise bottle calves on nurse cows and of course build up my beef herd.

At what age do you wean your calves and do you use milk-based replacer or soy-based replacer? Milk- based replacer is $100 per bag in East Tennessee.

Former used Dairy Facilities can be handy. And, btw the Chucklehead Hereford is growing faster than the Angus crosses.
when i was a boy i would sit in school and look out the window at this farm with e milking shorthorn and a Holstein milking them and feeding one or two calves per cow or he would feed one and keep some of her milk and separate the cream and feed the skin milk to the pigs
Really like all your toes but I was wondering why are the pens so small for those baby cows that you have not weaned yet wouldn't they do better with a little bit bigger of a pin

How many nurse cows are you planning on using in the future? Do you pull the calves off the nurse cow after 4 months then breed her back?
I plan on running as many as needed based on how many calves I will have available. If I can get 40 calves I’ll probably have about 10-15 nurse cows.

I’m paying $66 for adm nursetrate 50lb bag. Most places charge $70-$76 for it.
the one and only dairy i get all my calves from, May to Aug are all angus/holstein cross, i stop in Aug as our winters are to dam cold an snow for them to make it. later then Aug. here on Ont. Canada i have many different brands and type i can buy, but i buy the Gerber high yield, i pay $63.00CND per 20kg bag, none of the companies make a 50Lb bag, as 50 Lbs would be a 25kg bag, sometimes i will buy utter love but it is $76.00 cnd a 20kg bag, it mixs the best but i dont see any growth or heath different, check me out

My family still has a lot of cow calf pairs. If you are wondering that because of all of the old equipment/concrete feeders, the farm used to be an old dairy so there is a lot of in used dairy stuff around. But yes my family still runs a lot of cattle.
