I am listening to the audiobook and almost gave up on this book a number of times. As you say, the characters are unlikeable. Beyond that, I couldn’t understand why they would listen to Eric, the victim’s brother, who tells them he wants to reveal their secrets (and they all had secrets) as well as find his sister’s killer. Jessica was having an affair with her boyfriend’s roommate for almost the entire time they were together, and the boyfriend never suspects. She spends one night with the professor, and that makes him murderous but he stays with her for a couple of years. Ridiculous!
i've seen this book cover at the library but haven't had a chance to borrow it from the library. love you sharing your honest opinion about this book, i think i'll skip it!
I hated the characters too. Everybody is just so messed up! Just like you said, they are horrible, horrible people and unreliable friends for that matter. That's putting it mildly. I mean, for what it's worth, I wouldn't hang out with any of them. (Why is it that the majority of thrillers I read these days are filled with nasty characters? Is this a recipe for a great thriller? Throw some hard-to-love people in so you can justify their evil deeds; and there you have it, the thriller of the year!😆 Just the other day, I finished two books by Freida McFadden and, oh dear God! It's so hard not to hate people right now! 😅) Overall, In My Dreams I Hold a Knife had its fair share of clichés. But I have to say I liked how the novel was paced and the plot twists, except that moment when Jessica decides to take the blame for something that someone else did. Maybe she wanted to finally do things right but it kind of left a bitter taste in my mouth.
God I just finished this. I hated the ending!! Jessica is such a.....I'm not saying anything. I hated that she ended up with coop the nice guy .I didn't like Jessica at all. I hated coop for even loving her throughout the book. Like boy you've got Caro and you go kiss your little secret at homecoming? It's so damn frustrating. Actually everyone made mint a villian. Like mint was good to Jessica yet she cheated on him with coop. What's more infuriating is that this Jessica girl didn't even felt guilty at all for cheating on mint with coop. It was like normal that's how it's portrayed in the book and it almost made me dnf. She(jessica) don't deserve a happy ending at all. She got the guy and she found peace at the end? I really hope she get what she deserves. Why is soooo frustrating She's happy in the end.she don't deserve it nooo please 😭😭😭😭😭
I feel like it's not an accident when the murder is intentional, just the wrong person. Like please insert 'cool motive, still murder' meme because what the crap lol. Don't feel anything for that dude. I feel like I would've liked this plot twist better than you because I really enjoy unlikable characters, but also I'm glad I don't need to read it because your rant was better lol
Girl …. You are speaking the truth ….. you really are. Thanks for such a well articulated review.

Ugh! Just finished this and I couldn’t agree more!! Well written but GOOD GRIEF!
Exactly. It was frustrating. I wanted to like it. I'm considering reading something else by this author.
Currently listening to this as an audiobook and I am not feeling it…thank you for your review..this will be a DNF for me
I'm sorry you aren't enjoying it but I am glad I'm not the only one. I feel less crazy now lol

To be fair a lot of people seem to like it. But if you do decide to read it I would go for the library or a free service :)

I haven't read any Freida McFadden yet. I have one on my kindle but I've been putting off starting it due to some things I've seen in reviews.

Glad you enjoyed it lol and I mispoke. I didn't mean it was an accident...only that it wasn't premeditated. They were all awful lol
Sounds unpleasant.
It was. I hate "fast ones"! 😆
