Yeah - nothing stellar, but that's how it goes, of course. Just gotta keep going until something incredible happens. (Hint... watch my next video when it comes out!).
Just finished a nickel hunt. Had some good finds as well as 60 nickel-nickels. I did roll up a roll of 2001P for either the next humter or the A.R.P. program and two rolls of 1982-2000 non-nickel coins. There aren't many years I do not have so I do nickel hunts more for fun and "varities". I agree that rolled ones from ARP are rather dismal and I do shy away from those! Hang in there all!
That first box of nickels was rough! I had a similar experience with some dimes once. When I got home, I noticed that every roll had a small X marked in pencil on the side
Yeah, I've had that happen to me! I didn't notice until I got home. It sucks, especially since I can't help but look through them all to see if they other roll hunter missed anything...Thanks for watching!
Wow, I didn't know about that ARP fact. That must suck, since machine wrapped rolls aren't desirable and customer app rolls could already be searched. Clearly that doesn't stop you from getting a lot of good finds, love the channel!
Thanks so much, I love sharing my finds with everyone! It does make for a bit of a crapshoot when getting coins, but there's still lots of great stuff out there. Thanks so much for watching!
Great video again. Been searching dimes mostly lately and had some luck with a couple silver. First proof find last night. Found 8 in one roll ranging in dates between 1986-1995. All in uncirculated state. Can’t believe my luck. Keep the videos coming!
@@CADRollHunter Yeah. Considering you're from Ontario, and Ottawa is not that far from where you are, they might intend to delay these from either production or shipping to local banks via Bank of Canada, right?
Keep an eye out for '56 and other dates around there. 1957 isn't the only year to have that die chip. Also keep an eye out for small patch and large patch varieties of the 1990 bare belly.
@ 5.05g weight for the silver nickel vs 4.6g average weight for the cupronickel mint. One way to tell the apart. That and the two I’ve found hunting have had some slight but very obvious tarnish blush on them that didn’t look par usual nickel coins. 🍻✌🏼
I always mark my nickels I return to my dump bank I never pickup at the same bank I dump and my mark is a special mark so I know i hunted them but I will hunt other marked rolls because just yesterday I hunted 1o marked rolls and found 2 1970 low mint beaver so sometimes you can catch rolls that the hunter missed the varieties so yes marked rolls sometimes reveal good finds
There are only a handful. The 1951 nickel commemorative and the '67 featuring the rabbit are a couple. The Victory nickels of the 40's of course. And more recently the 1992, with the double dates (but it doesn't stand out, of course), and the 2005 Victory nickel and the 2017. I'm sure I'm missing something!
great video, as always. i was wondering where you went. lol. but two weeks in one, ill take it. that second box was pretty good. in the first box was a 5 cent with no date on it .
I've been so busy recently with a home renovation and with music, I haven't had time to do much in the way of videos. And then when I did get a chance to do that first nickel hunt - nothing!! That pushed me out ven further! But I'm back!
Do you know about the 1968 Bold Date? Check your '68s, theres one where the lettering and date on the reverse show more bold, and the denticles are noticeably different in shape/style.
@CADRollHunter I'm really surprised it's not on coins & Canada or in the Charlton, or any coin albums. When you study it, it's clearly its own variety.
I actually had machine wrapped rolls with lots of oldies and US recently, so they must have been wrapped by another source. Usually my experience with machine wrapped is the same as yours.
I think ill get a box next week, not sure what denomination i should do, i find nickels interesting, i get the most silver with dimes, quarters have colour, hard choice
Very true. Once it's left your hands, most of the time the rolls are getting split up and handed out and things get re-rolled. I wouldn't pass over a marked roll - you still never know what might be in there!
The Charlton Standard Catalogue lists the mintages of all Canadian coins minted for ciruculation. The coinsandcanada.com and numista.com websites will list reported mintages for other issues. The source of truth, of course will be the Royal Canadian Mint's annual reports (available online) which list all mintages for each year.
@@daleclarke8633 That completely misses the point of coin roll hunting and finding them in circulation at face value. It's the thrill of the hunt - not exactly the same as buying them off eBay...
Funny how you have trouble getting 2024 king Charles while I have trouble finding 2023. I'm at the tip of Vancouver Island and it is interesting what actually gets here.
It's interesting to think about how coins are distributed. I imagine that new coins get sent where they're needed most, and if we got all the 2023s out East...
Like watching you're channel. I've been looking for someone from Canada to trade with. I collect Canadian coins but here in Ohio I don't find that many. Would you be willing to trade any Canada for American coins?
Hey, Rick - thanks so much for watching. I'm glad you're enjoying my videos. I have done several trades with a couple American collectors already, but I'll be there are some Canadian collectors here who might take you up on that offer to trade. I'd put a call out in the comments to see if anyone is interested.

Impressive hunt! I'm looking forward to see more Charles III coins on the hunt!
I'm wondering how long it will take for the 2025s to show up - interesting that we'll soon have 3 years of them circulating.
@@CADRollHunter I'm no expert, but I often think it would be in circulation by either Q2 or Q3 of the year.
