To be honest, you can have a unique voice and still sing in harmonies. The key is matching everyone's volume, vibrato, and pitch. Camilla just does whatever she feels like, which is fine if you're a soloist who has background singers, but not in a group setting like this
I assume that’s probably one of the many reasons they disbanded. Because Camilla wasn’t the main character in that group. And the others weren’t background characters. They were a group that each had their weaknesses and strengths that should compliment each other.
True after singing on my own for so long joining a choir was a steep learning curve for me. I had to ultimately get rid of my vibrato and always had to check in with the volume of the sopranos because I'm an alto. the hard truth is most girls see eachother as competitors and girls tend to be more vocal compared to guys which is why most bands are guys, girls get put against eachother on a scale factor x10 more harsh. The whole girl’s girl movement is STILL doing that and shaming other girls for not thinking the same way as a girl’s girl. Girls are messy, we speak out, we have trouble getting over things. That’s why girl groups don’t work out, especially 5th harmony.
When Khloe K. forced Demi to say who stood out for her and admitted that it was Camilla, it probably got to her head. It's sad because people are villainizing the other girls while claiming that Camilla is the most talented among the members when, in reality, the other girls are hella talented as well.
I’ve really never understood why she was pushed so much as like “the talented one” when it’s so obvious that the group is filled with such talented vocalists. In fact, I don’t even know if she’s one of the better singers.
She can hardly sing. Bad technique with all the annoying nasality and so on. She has a decent tone, but singers like her can easily be found anywhere on the streets. She does have quite a charisma though. She has that look which is very marketable as well. I guess it all boils down to that
She clearly doesn’t wanna do harmonization. People can have a distinctive vocal style/ unique voice but they can still harmonize nicely. She didn’t want to, she wanted to stand out.

As somebody who is in a choir, balance is KEY! You cannot be singing too loud or even too quietly because if the noise is not just right, it will not give the effect that it is supposed to. For example, there's a girl in my choir who is just like Camila. She has an amazing voice that is pretty booming. However, her voice is not suitable for a choir. She sings too loud. Worst part is that she isn't even a soprano and never has melodies to make it ok to sing that loud. She is a TENOR. She makes the entire tenor part sound the loudest. The worst part is that, like Camila, when told to sing a bit softer, she doesn't listen and keeps on singing loudly. This really off-balances the choir. Camila has a good voice but she is not cut out to be in a group with harmonies.
Not people acting like they know what they’re talking about 🤔 Any person, no matter what kind of voice they have, can blend in and harmonize with any group, there are methods and techniques. Doesn’t take a singer to know this.
Exactly! Like Little Mix explained how they harmonize so good and it took them practice but they also put in the work. If Camila is being coached during a performance, she's clearly not putting in the work because she didn't want to.
ive learnt a lot from all the musical activities i take part in. Ive done solo, choir, solo instrumental, instrumental band, orchestra, and now i sing in an indie pop band just for fun like extra curricular, i mean i suppose all of these r extra curriculars but anyways, if ive learnt anything, its that no matter how beautiful ur voice is, talent goes unrecognized if they dont know how to blend in a group. i was in a big band pre-covid and the first trumpet got cut because he refused to play anything that wasnt fanfare, I’m not even a trumpet and i found that insulting. Months of work from everyone else and just coz he was good, and knew it he thought he could just not try and act like a band. fucking moron
She’s not matching tone, so the sound doesn’t blend. There is no harmony between all 5, the 4 girls are singing a chord and Camilla is singing next to them
Beyoncé has a unique voice and can still harmonize, tlc could harmonize and one of them is rapping ! Being able to sing beautifully with a group is a skill. Diana Ross did it and you can be a solo artist and still be able to sing properly with others.
If they ever hate her, i understand. It's like she stealing all of their spotlight. Normani also has amazing voice but she doesn't seem to overshadowed her band mates.
some people are like "oh but she made them sound better!" and listen, if she did or didn't its up to your tastes, however, you can't deny she turns a group performance into one that sounds like a solo with the others as support vocalists. when they try to harmonise, she ends up thinking they're doing a backup vocalist job and sings over them, which isn't wrong but is exactly the opposite of what you'd expect
and i know someone's going to say that this is the point, the girls are doing the backing vocals for her, and tho i think its true (since management saw this as camilla and friends) i still think its a weird decision. you got this cozy acoustic setting, why the hell would you need someone doing nasal tight runs on top of it 😭😭

2 years later, but I wanted to comment. I had a girl like that in my choir, she thought she was the better singer- She was a good singer, but she definitely wasn't the best. She would never practice the required songs and would always just talk and gossip (She was in Sopranos and whenever we split into our sections, Sopranos would go into some closet to practice but her and her little posse would stay in the choir room just talking), then get mad when other people got upset with her because she was ruining the songs Come concert day, she didn't even wear the appropriate attire and didn't even stay on tune or anything with the Sopranos and she was always a count early, laughing on stage every time she messed up as if it was funny Lets just say, she wasn't allowed back into choir after that, and I moved up to proficient choir before graduating early Edit: This all happened 2nd semester of Junior year, I was in intermediate choir, since I was in proficient dance 1st semester of junior year at my HS
You can't use "unique voice" as an excuse because people like Jesy from little mix has a really unique voice but she still blended well with the whole group. Camila was acting like a soloist with back up dancers and singers while she was in a group with four other really talented girls.
yes she does have unique voice but you can still make harmonies work if you know how to do it. she would overpower the harmonizing of the other girls bc she either wasn't able to control her voice or wanted to stand out and that does mess up the harmony because it's supposed to blend into sounding like one voice. also what in the world were those adlibs
For the people who are saying that Camila doesn't do it on purpose: Camila does it on purpose, she always did. I worked there for around 8 years, and the record company always asked her to sing louder than her peers, as "her tone was (somehow) appealing to the target audience (which was young)", while Ally and Dinah they were left out, even though they were the main singers of the group. since then, Camila has started to act like she was 5H's number 1 singer (when she wasn't), and even talked a few times that she should lead the harmonizing songs, leading the other 5H members to "fight" for their places and recognition in the group, which generated a lot of rivalry, and obviously, the record company encouraged it to the fullest. I remember well when Camila said that if her voice wasn't in evidence, that the group's singles wouldn't be successful and that they wouldn't perform well. i feel that she never intended to hurt or demean her groupmates, i'm sure she just wanted to bring maximum attention to herself, and in that way be highlighted at all times in any work outside the group; in fact, that's how her popularity grew and she was always the #1 choice for work outside of 5H.
ive been a choir girl, a soloist, in a band, an orchestra, and now i sing in a indie pop band w my friends but if ive learnt anything from that its that what u do matters, it doesnt matter how good u are, if u cant match the people around u, youll destroy whatever magic ur trying to create.

Growing up is realizing those girls weren't shady to her, she was the one being rude for trying to stand out when she was in a group
Yupppp
the hard truth is most girls see eachother as competitors and girls tend to be more vocal compared to guys which is why most bands are guys, girls get put against eachother on a scale factor x10 more harsh.
I’ve really never understood why she was pushed so much as like “the talented one” when it’s so obvious that the group is filled with such talented vocalists. In fact, I don’t even know if she’s one of the better singers.
Facts. She usually sings in a whiny or nasaly voice which I can't understand why people are crazy about her "great vocals" when she sounds that bad.
She was the least talented one in the group...
For me Dinah is the best!
Dinah, Ally, and Normani are all more skilled than her.
She stood out alright
Exactly
That’s why she left
It’s not that she didn’t want to. She wasn’t supposed to. These were mostly her either doing adlibs, or singing lead while the others harmonized. The arrangements are clear, it’s no different than when Ally had lead vocals.
@@amariahlovelace5113ut she WANTED to stand out and outshine other girls. You got a proof in her private messages that leaked out, it was drama about it. We can clearly say she thought she was better than other girls lol but the truth is she was weakest link in group. Only thing that make her "unique" in FH was her interesting timbre of voice but thats all. She knew she wasnt best vocalist, fans favourite and best dancer so she needed to play kinda unfair. She knew what she was doing here. She sacrificed the performances and the chemistry of the group to make sure she stood out as much as possible. A very cutthroat and selfish strategy.

This example is great since Nct has so many members and all have distinctive voices, yet they blend so well with each other. Any western or kpop artist could harmonize really well. Camila just irritates me.
I love this comparison, you’re spot on
Great example😂😂
Joy and Key are both less trained than Camilla, have nasal voices, are/were in 5 member groups and could harmonize better than she.
not them giving her the stank eye 0:37 i’m deceased
the way she tapped Camila to say "enough that's enough okay" 🤣
It was clear from the start that they weren't going to last as a group. They just didn't click. No chemistry. It didn't even look like they ever liked each other. It was as if they just tolerated each other. You could just tell that they all wanted solo careers.
In my opinion her voice is so unique im glad that she left the band for more de success
i mean, that's a better decision than staying and overshadowing her group. the voices of the remaining 4 were very well blended, hers doesn't just belong and is better solo. she's also very successful as one so yeah.
@@nichidietih4849 i don't think she tried to overshadow the other members tbh. her voice stood out from the rest because of how unique it is
@@zuzoi1 her voice stood out because she always had more volume in her mic. Producers/label wanted her to be the lead, and they let her be the lead.
She didn't even tried to blend her voice with the the other girls (as you can see in this video).
@@jorgeescudero5034 yeah i agree with you, the label wanted her to be the lead so bad. but i don't think that's the reason why her voice always stood out from the rest. she has the most unique voice out of them, so it's normal for us to recognize to her voice more than the others. her voice just didn't "match" with them and that's okay. it's not her fault
@@zuzoi1 you are right, even if I really don't like her voice, well, she sounds very different from the other girls
0:37 normani was like “what’s this chile”
Camila has always given off that energy that we all recognize when the popular girl in the grade joins choir and tries to stand out by singing louder than everybody else lmfao
I can’t🤣 but is so true
the reason she isn’t harmonizing with the others in most of these clips is because she she is singing lead vocals, her voice is supposed to stand out.
2 years later, but I wanted to comment. I had a girl like that in my choir, she thought she was the better singer- She was a good singer, but she definitely wasn't the best. She would never practice the required songs and would always just talk and gossip (She was in Sopranos and whenever we split into our sections, Sopranos would go into some closet to practice but her and her little posse would stay in the choir room just talking), then get mad when other people got upset with her because she was ruining the songs
Come concert day, she didn't even wear the appropriate attire and didn't even stay on tune or anything with the Sopranos and she was always a count early, laughing on stage every time she messed up as if it was funny
Lets just say, she wasn't allowed back into choir after that, and I moved up to proficient choir before graduating early
Edit: This all happened 2nd semester of Junior year, I was in intermediate choir, since I was in proficient dance 1st semester of junior year at my HS
Well a lot of people are saying her voice is unique but it's really an attempt on overshadowing the group
yes fr it's so obvious
She outta pocket for that stay ay
You can't use "unique voice" as an excuse because people like Jesy from little mix has a really unique voice but she still blended well with the whole group. Camila was acting like a soloist with back up dancers and singers while she was in a group with four other really talented girls.
Now that i think of it, I now clearly remember hearing ONLY her high pitched voice in everyone of their songs
Their faces staring at her so uncomfy LMAO A MOOD HONESTLY
Am I the only who thinks 0:46 was really good 😭😭😭
I was coming to say this
Yep,no she qas supposed to lead that part, not to blend.

0:34 That annoying elephant from Sing who wants to be the center of attention at someone else's birthday
LMFAOOO

😂
Gimme context??
@@Serendipity_sg he's referring to the elephant character in the first "Sing" movie. You can look up "Meena - Happy birthday" on TH-cam for the scene.
0:43 how did she get away with this? 💀
shit's got me rolling on the floor 😭💀
Ikr it was so bad
She’s really good
All the stay harmonies have me crying😭😭😭😭 this really sent me to the milky way🤣
the way the other girls were even telling her to stop being so over the top is insaneee and she still kept it up 💀
yes she does have unique voice but you can still make harmonies work if you know how to do it. she would overpower the harmonizing of the other girls bc she either wasn't able to control her voice or wanted to stand out and that does mess up the harmony because it's supposed to blend into sounding like one voice. also what in the world were those adlibs
She does not have a unique voice ☠️☠️ she has a very annoying nasally off key tone. But yeah she's better as a solo
@@User-rz7de it's not a common vocal tone to have. I'm not saying i like it bc i don't honestly but it is kinda unique
Her standing out definitely did something for her because I see her in the headlines than I see the rest of them. Hate her or not
Why do they make her mic louder ? I understand she is the lead singer but actually she can harmonize
She’s very bad 🥴🥴🥴🥴
@@jaw4847 she’s actually not
@@riannebenoit5686 If you love her, that doesn't mean you're denying that she's ruining harmony
@@jaw4847 i literally don’t love her but sitting here saying she can’t sing and that’s she cry bad is just wrong LOL
@@jaw4847 OMG You such a hater don't You have a life? You are literally hating camilla in every comend :/get over yourself
Can I heart this comment? Lol I wish I did. Nothing but facts, specially because you're talking from experience!
and then you woke up.
it's just sad.
@@lali1499 Is there any reason not to believe this person? People in the music industry can just be on TH-cam 💀

the group name should be Two Harmonies, one are four girls harmonizing and the other one is camila being as loud as a chipmunk
ive been a choir girl, a soloist, in a band, an orchestra, and now i sing in a indie pop band w my friends but if ive learnt anything from that its that what u do matters, it doesnt matter how good u are, if u cant match the people around u, youll destroy whatever magic ur trying to create.
a filipino diva named Regine Velasquez always said everything needs rehearsals practice atleast in the last minute you cant just go on stage (specially if its not your song) and start doing impromptu runs and camila clearly tried to do it even if it wasn’t part of rehearsals lmao and it doesnt even fit the songs she tried to do adlibs with
regine has no pitch other than high I wouldn't take anything she say seriously 😭
Asia Songbird😊😊😊
Not the camila stans getting mad 😭
Im not a vocal expert but no matter what your voice type is you should harmonize good no matter what
She seems like she didn't wanna blend well with them. She's just wanna take the spotlight for herself while all four are harmonizing
0:45 normani looking too damn good to just be one of camila's backup singers ugh
camila is superior
that was not camila's decision tho... their management always shoved camila to the front

It’s the fact that years ago her fans were in this same comment section harassing people about her being such a “victim”, making her the next Selena Gomez- everything is a pity party with those two.
