I love that shiny metal! One suggestion. After making that small cuts in the handle, try holding a bare wire in them as lathe turns. Kinda burns them in, blackens them and offers better definition of them.
Thank you very much for watching my videos and giving me advice on my projects, you are right that I could use a wire, but unfortunately I did not think about such a solution, next time i will do this way 😊👍
Whilst it would probably take longer and more work, I'd heat it up then pound back the folds before moving on to the grinder and filing. That said, the result here is a thing of beauty, I always love shiny objects!
Thank you buddy 🤗. Unfortunately, I do not have a metal heating furnace yet, so it really would take a lot more time (even though it already took a long time) but I develop my skills and workshop every day 😊👍
I am not a professional so I will not be able to answer this question in detail, but in my opinion the biggest difference in manual sanding is that the oil additionally protects our element against rust (until the next processing step) I haven't done with oil yet but you intrigued me and I'd like to try it 😊 Thank you for your support 😊
@@landcruiserde You're right, but every hammer gets damaged when used, whether it's polished, painted, cast, or made in any other way, but of course it's a shame to use that hammer 😕
I did not see a crack on the handle but I know that this type of wood looks like this, but I will check it carefully and then write because I'm not sure 😊
I really don't know how much material was rejected because I didn't weigh it before and after, but I know this hammer is very heavy so it hasn't lost its properties 😊
@@customrestoration5317 Thank you too) I'm not sure about the quality of an online translator. I will try to be brief. The fact is that with a wedge made of wood, the tool lasts longer
@@fil950 yes, it is a fact and it looks better, but by driving a metal wedge I could use a lot more force to drive the wedge so it is a good solution when it comes to safety in use, but you are right that it will last longer, maybe next time 😊👍

Thank you very much Marco 😊👍 awesome avatar 😁
Hermoso. Lo jubilaste, me parece bien después de muchos años de martillar. Porque después de esa perfecta restauración, quedó de exhibición.
thank you very much buddy. I also think he deserved his retirement at the exhibition 😊👍
Fantastic job!!! Please, can you tell me something? What camera model do you use? 🙏👏🤝
Thank you very much buddy 🤗 im gonna send you DM on IG 😊
Is it better to wet sand with water or oil? What’s the difference? Thx nice work btw!

look! a new kid on the block!!!!
me: no, he's an artisan on the block!
❤ Thank you, thank you, thank you 🤗 you are very kind
Nice job. How many grinding discs did you go through? Looks amazing at the end
I used one disc for cutting and two for grinding. Thank you, Stuart, for your support, and I'm so glad you like it 😊👍
Me: No way he can restore this
Custom Restoration: Hold my tools
Haha ❤ 😄👍
A very nice handle and a hard polished hammer but only useable as a mirror - a really great job but no restauration.
Thank you very much but why do you think it can only be used as a mirror?
@@customrestoration5317 Your polished hammer is not new hardenet so you can't use the hammer as an hammer without destruction
@@landcruiserde You're right, but every hammer gets damaged when used, whether it's polished, painted, cast, or made in any other way, but of course it's a shame to use that hammer 😕
I may be seeing thing but did the handle crack when putting in the shim I see what looks like a fracture down the handle only looks like 1/2" long

Perfeito !
😊👍 thank you buddy
Nice! BTW, is it me, or was there still rust left in the hammer-hole?
Thank you very much 😊
you see right, there is rust left but I treated it with a substance that chemically reacts with the rust and blocks it 😊
Looks great. Almost too pretty to use!
Thank you very much 😊
At the start, it looked very baroque-en.
And at the end ? I hope you like it 😊 have nice day Mitchel
😮👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you 😊
Gostaria de ver o martelo ser levado á forja e reforjado sem perda de material. Quanto de material se perdeu com o desbaste?
I really don't know how much material was rejected because I didn't weigh it before and after, but I know this hammer is very heavy so it hasn't lost its properties 😊
Metal cutting disk on the grinder without the protection cover is unacceptable!
Yes I know but I don't know where is that part I have the grinder so many years and I probably lost it 😔
Клин лучше бы из дерева делать ;)
I was wondering whether or not to use a wooden wedge but I preferred to push the wood very strongly to make it safer to use. Thank you for feedback 😊
