- Today we had the opportunity to fish something truly wild and very untouched! We were invited to fish a tribal section of a lower river system in search of wild winter steelhead! Jordan ventures into the wilderness in search of the fish we love the most, the elusive wild steelhead. 2021 steelhead fishing was a rough season to participate in. Lots of ups and downs. How did your 2021 steelhead season go?
Terrible. I just started steelhead fishing end of November and I have never hooked a steelhead. But I got to reel one in.
Was lucky enough to land two this year. One got molested the other became dinners.
Got 4 this year no monsters though ! 13 and 14 lbs
I live in Connecticut. We don’t have native Steelhead, but we do have Atlantic Salmon. Very similar fish I’d say the differences are only in appearance. Caught one 8lb and another roughly 3. We have a lot of old growth forests here with wild fish and unexplored land with loads of creeks and brooks that these fish love. I’d like to see u guys come out this way sometime.
all rainbow trout for me, but its been a great season so far. caught a couple monsters in dolores river and a few dozen in the stock ponds up the road. watched an eagle catch a fish out of the same pond we were fishing on my birthday! Great season :)

I spent a lot of time on that river with my dad and my brothers. I didn't get to fish it this year, but I got my elk 2nd day of muzzleloader season about 3 miles away from the park boundary. That river will always hold a special place in my heart.

Michigan tribs season was on fya this year! Multiple 10 fish days. Great lakes steelhead fishing will always be great. West coast haters will always hate us but I don't care. Midwest catching fish all day!!!
You can't really compare them. I'm sure the fishing in the Great Lakes is well great ha. No need to hate one or the other. Fish on!
Nice Wild Places realization, Jordan. Broodstocking giving you guy's unrealistic expectations for the future. Habitat and ocean conditions play a huge part in what you reap. Gotta start teaching people how to protect fish more after we land them, 30 second releases, heads in water, ect.
I just caught my first Steelhead on Saturday! It was a beautiful chrome very early summer fish or late winter. I caught it while fishing for bass! It was a 20 minute fight 😂 it was 10.9 and 35 inches! And then I caught another one that was 11.8. Again while fishing for bass!
I love the Hoh, and fish camping up and down the coast around there. I miss the NW.

I moved to Utah to be with my son and really miss fishing in the NW. Watching these videos, snag my boy and move back to the hills by Scappoose. He sounds like he's up for it so... time to find work back in Monkyton where they clone beavers...

One of my favorite parts of being in the NW is the rain. You gotta be from here to love being miserable like that. Being wet is part of me, and seeing things like this make me proud to be from the NW

I was very sad in oatgo because there had been to major fish kills one was a creek that was one of the spawning creeks of the side of a river and now there's no big fish around around

TRUTH!
I’m 19 and I just got into steelhead fishing last year. It’s depressing that I’m getting into a dying fishery. With all the issues they face finding a saving solution for these fish seems impossible. To list just a few of the problems they face, predation, c&r mortality, poaching, dams, warming ocean conditions, lack of food in the oceans, poaching in the ocean, smolt mortality, destruction of habitat from roads, logging, development, in some cases bad hatchery management. All of these issues branch out and there’s debates regarding what to do to resolve them. Then there’s a lack of unbiased solid science based studies needed to help make decisions on solutions to these issues. The process to even get started on a solution to a issues takes so long. I’m just thinking Rip these fish. Nobody wants to take the hit for these fish and lose profits etc in sake of possibly helping/saving fish. Our future generations will be left with small runs of hatchery fish and bass to fish for 🤷♂️.

your able to tell cause hatchery fish's fins will be beat up from being in the tank with the other fish

The natives need to help why do they need huge net across the Columbia and they are not just killing salmon and steelhead they kill all kinds of fish they don't eat the fish they sale them

Honestly we really need to learn to stop messing with untouched areas and let them stay natural they’ve actually in certain areas reduced state owned public lands for industrial use not right cause us as humans need these wild creatures to exist period without them who knows what’ll happen to Mother Nature or us!!!!!
