Keep them coming Andy and looking forward to more reviews on the older ones. Its time some manufactures started to think out of the box, good design that wont leak and light weight. Lunar managed the light weight and well equipped in the nineties and nearly made them dry !
We must have been lucky, back in 2007 we purchased a new Lunar Freelander which over 7 years had no leaks which surprised the dealer when we traded it in for a new elddis!
Aww thank you Stephen yes more oldies to come and yes lightweight needs to be a focal point in caravan design. Yes Lunar were good as were Avondale in lightweight tourers and if they had got quality better they would be still here today and doing alright - thanks for the kind comments and watching the channel-all the best
Great video Andy, very sad times for businesses nearly all caravan dealers I drive past have got sales on, I think we will see some more gone in the near future. As you pointed out the land will become a housing estate, the land probably worth far more than the business. All the best wishes to you and your family for Christmas and the new year. I watch every one of your videos love listening to your vast knowledge.
Hi Trucker it is sad and yes land worth more though a ressidential park sits next door and owned I think by them so possibly they may extend that park now - all the best to you hope you had a good un and all the very best for 2025, thank you for watching in 2024!
Wow - great would love to have been there back then-ABI ruled the roost at one point great range of tourers - yes would have been good to see Lady Bailey in that era - thanks for sharing Paul
Hi Andy, sad news about Lady Bailey's closing down. I think the used market could be busy next year, manufacturing still hasn't got the Value for Money side of things right yet and also layout selection on new vans has gone backwards. Used family vans will be in big demand and the market is going to be like the used car market, tight on numbers and expensive. Looks like you're going to be busy next year on the videos and I'm looking forward to seeing some of Andy's restored projects. Happy Christmas to you and thanks for the hours of work you put in on the videos.
Hi Kevin - running behind with replies!! I think used will do okay and prices will be firm but value has to be on the list and such as the Xplores and Sprites and to a point Discovery models. Hopefully I can bring better news in 2025 thanks Kevin all the best to you both for 2025.
Well all makers have had issues but I think a few decent dealers going or dropping Bailey isnt good for them they will be looking for replacements. thanks Paul.
Good vlog and great update on the current market place. Maybe the caravan/motor home market has reached its peak which should allow the punter a better choice with competitive prices. Thanks Andy
Really sad, but as my previous comments, sadly this holiday genre is going through a total recalibration. Happy Xmas Andy to you & family, good health & all the best for 2025. Keep-up with the really informative content you are publishing through TH-cam.
Firstly thank you for the encouraging words, hope you had a good Xmas and I say all the best for 2025 too. Yes the industry is on a reformat I am thinking EV is hitting sales I am sure plus expense to. Thank you and all the best
Hi Andy, 9 months ago traded my Toyota Hybrid 2010 with 145,000 miles! (Not allowed to tow with these early Hybrids)With the original Hybrid battery ! Because I had a annual service with Toyota main dealer they would guarantee battery it for the next 12 months! Free fitting but I would have to pay for a new battery Not sure what guarantee on fully electric cars ,suppose how many miles it's driven, weight of caravan it's towing and how it's charged ( extremely fast charging is probably going to shorten battery life) Problem is manufacturers have to increase percentage of EVs they make year on year or face huge fineds whether they sell them or not? Thanks again for your insight 👍 Merry Christmas 🎅
Interesting your comment - the Toyota sounds to have doe well as you say wonder what a battery fitted would cost. Makers being fined for not selling enough EV's is disgusting and should not be happening. My local Skoda dealer told me the same a few weeks ago - thank you for watching and comments to.
Great vlog andy sad to see lady bailey go as they were very close to us handy for getting bits in hurry the caravan dealers left nr us now is webbs at Salisbury & The caravan company in wimborn both mix an match vans
Hi Paul - yes its bad a bit like the car dealerships that were family and now gone or sold to bigger groups. Service on a personnel level will go and fewer deals to be had. Such a shame really is. thank you for watching.
Alex - thank you and thank you for watching my channel - its not slick or pretend to be like others but I try and spread my knowladge of this industry to others to show how intersting it is thats why I do the books - moneywise not worth it but for me if I can get folk interested in its heritage as well as its importance in supplying jobs I am happy - but the money would be a big help!! Thanks again and a happy 2025 Alex.
@ your channel is spot on, true, honest, and balanced. Being the age I am, I’m very interested in the heritage side, as I was a keen follower of models and the various price comparisons as a boy. Tourers are so much more advanced and comfortable these days. They really are a home from home, aren’t they. I do love watching your tour of dealers and showing us what’s available, both on the new and used market. Keep on doing what your doing, and spreading your vast knowledge, it certainly makes the hobby all the more interesting. 😁
@@alexrankin8263 Alex I am lost for words - I hope to produce better content and dont get me going on older tourers I wont stop my friends all me the caravan bore! Yes todays vans have more storage spec etc - but dont have the character as there older counterparts did - thank you again and getting what I do with the channel Alex.
@@caravanindustryexpertandyjenk yep…the vans of today have lost a great deal of the individual styling that manufactures were able to bring to us within the confines of a tin box you could tow. Was it Tom Caren who did that Ci futuristic Europa? Very bold, and didn’t last long, but he tried. I have to say these Basecamp/Actions, and Erebas are having a good go at individual styling. The difficulty for you is finding classic vans to review and remind us of what we had.
I think its generally buisness is tighter and while larger dealers have grown more you need to make sure you have cash in the bank for stormy economic weather as now but nothing wrong with competition as you say thank you for comments.
hi andy, i've not heard any more relating to pennine, nothing on their web site or facebook page yet, but there was a post someone found regarding the administrators listing all the stock including machinery they have for making the cabinets all going to auction, so as yet it looks like it's the end of them, which is a massive shame as they still have a massive market for the used ones. anyway have a great xmas and we'll see what 2025 brings.
Its a big shame I liked their folders and maybe costs new hit them because some EV's could tow their products. Yes I heard they sell well used as do Riva Dandy folders whos refurb / sales side is busy and I am going to do a vist on them in the next few weeks with video to follow. thanks for that info please keep me informed Phil.
Ha ha Gary - well a park home site is next door and owned I think by LB so they may extend the park for res use - come on Rayner dont forget the park home!! Cheers Gary

Hello Andy, I remember visiting theLady Bailey dealer back in the 70s and 80s when they used to be an ABI dealer

Bailey need to improve their quality and after sales, they may be able to sell them then!..
