Idk if you know but Maya is also the lead vocalist. She just happens to be good at everything.
And the part that reminds you of Interstellar in WWY, I think they were watching videos sent from their families which may be why they were emotional.
Everytime they cry in the video I lowkey do as well. Funfact: the staff/company set up a surprise FaceTime with their families 🥹 that’s why they were waving and crying

The fact that juria is the "weakest" dancer ( and I don't mean any ill will toward her, she's my girl) is insane to me. She is still so strong and has come so far in her dance
Fr tho! Check in their choreographies who they always put in the coolest dance part of the song. Except Jurin and Coco, it's Juria. I always tear up when I see her, Maya and Chisa dance
@ALPHAZ-recce I ALWAYS SAY THIS. it always hits when she is center. Best example is the pupet show line when she takes control of everyone. It just hits different. It's her presence for me. She just commands everything when she takes center.
Some context to the video and wintery mountainous setting. Chisa at the beginning was screaming "How are you?, I am fine" into the mountains. She was yelling to her dead fiance who died lost, cold and alone in an snowy avalanche. She goes there just to hear her own echo say "I'm fine". She was laying in the snow on the brink of death from pneumonia but was rescued by her family. This is retelling scenes from a 1995 Japanese movie called "Love Letter".

Can you believe Maya, Julia and Chisa dance growth!? Maya for sure is a hidden weapon her vocals are great. I also agree about X Gene it seemed like their most authentic take on hip hop
Hmmm XG does DC. You got me thinking! Also, since Maya jumped out with the vocals, curious who's next. I need to go back to the doc, but is how much does Cocona sing? I'd love to hear that depth and lil bit of husk in the harmonies. I mean, she doesn't need to go full Braxton (or Kandi hahaha) but just adding more textures to their future slower songs.
This "beta-testing" has been fun, watching XG evolve, and your honest, measured critiques to each iteration are appreciated.

I almost think you got Chisa mixed up with Maya in X Gene rap part. Chisa and Hinata were killing it though. My favorite dance cut in the video is with those three but Maya is front and center doing the "Mutated DNA Whoa" rap line

Chisa Yelling - recreates a scene from Love Letter (1995) Japanese movie where characters husband is lost and never found in a snowstorm in the mountains. She goes there to yell out to him "How are you?". She replies to the echo. "I'm doing fine.", knowing the echo is the only response she will ever get.
Girls crying - they surprise each of them with a video message from their family who they really have not seen for 5+ years during their training.

I appreciate the honesty but late 90’s early 2000’s R&B is literally “Winter without you”. Slow melodic rap with vocals dominated that era (Usher, TLC, Justin Timberlake, etc.) and I think that’s what XG was going for. To each their own, I personally thought Harvey, Jurin and Cocona destroyed and killed their rap parts and it went perfect with the song. They were dropping bars in X-gene as well as winter without you that I’m sure flew over peoples heads. Anyways, loved your reaction and I appreciate the honesty.
I agree with you on the wwy’s mv . I was expecting it to be like ‘Last Christmas’ mv (both are sad Xmas songs ) , but after second thought, I think it must be due to the continuation of their outta space alien concept……

I’m so glad u mentioned how u like their raps when they feel more natural and not forced. I’m a HUGE fan of XG and I don’t have anything bad to say about their talent and abilities. They’re amazing! But I mentioned that sometimes the "blaccent" is a bit cringy at times and people acted like I was talking crap about their mamas or something. Even the last song, they put on a bit a "blaccent " and for me it’s a little bit cringe. I still love’ ‘em and I know there’s a fine line between using appropriate tone and lyrics to get the point across and looking like u’re emulating a stereotype. Usually I feel like they do it well, but sometimes…🤷🏿♀️

I don't know if you have, but have you heard of MAVE? It's a group of CGI idols, basically. But I think the people behind the voices are real and I think the music is pretty decent, You should check them out. You should also react to XG doing one take on shooting star, Chisa and Juria are for sure my favorite vocals in the vocal line but hinata has a beautiful tone too.

@Aifaharaza: YESSS, I love the whole album even Assemble and Everyday which normally wouldn't be my kind of taste of music. The album has so many different kinds of genres and styles, and I love it all.

Im not the biggest fan of winter without, the raps werent my favorite, honestly id just prefer if they had all sang instead cuz the vocals were pretty.
He used to praise XG for Left Right and Shooting Star, but accused XG of "cultural appropriation" for Tape 3-B Nothing, (which most of the Black community really appreciated, but he didn't. what an irony . i still have a screenshot of him saying XG was "cosplaying blackness" which was the most idiotic thing to say. Becasuse most of the Black Rap oldheads appreciate what XG did for paying homage ) afterthat, he and the dancer laughed at XG for GRL GVNG and NEWDANCE (the former for having "no sense" and the latter for being "repetitive"). I guess since a lot of reactors are giving XG good feedback on Hesonoo+XGene and Winter Without YOU.. i guess he is going to ride the wave again this time.
I understood where he came from with the cosplaying comments at HITC, especially with the styling choices. Their style lately has changed a lot for the better and their personal styles are really cute!
I didn’t enjoy the dance reactions as much either. I think New Dance choreo is one of their best up their with shooting star, I thought Jake would really appreciate that one and TGIF due to the synchronizations and the flow but I think they disliked the songs too much to enjoy 😅

Honest reaction is one thing, but once you react and toe the line of accusing the girls of cultural appropriation, and authenticity, that’s where you lost me. Check the history of Japan’s urban culture, and it’s been around longer than you. Fashion has been trending all over the world, not one culture owns it. Also if you read up on your history and you will see that braids are worn by many cultures including Asian ones for thousands of years. Sorry, the black community cannot just own this outright. It is for everyone!!
