I have a baha and agree, it's often hit or miss at the airport. Either you get really ignorant TSA who roll their eyes when you hand them the card saying 'hey I have a cochlear implant so I can't go through the metal detector, or you get really caring ones (at least at the regional airport where my dad lives) but at Hopkins where I live they seem to be the roll their eyes type. Same thing with the emergency aisle thing. ONLY perk is early boarding. I have a CPAP too. So traveling with that sucks. Especially since I don't drive. I have to pack as little as I can since I can't carry much. Plus I have autism and OMG places like Ohare, and even train stations like Grand Central are SO OVERWHELMING I tend to get meltdowns because I don't have escape strategies like I do when I'm home in Cleveland. Though I do I like taking the train and greyhound more because I feel they're more disability-friendly. and cheaper.
I have ADHD and am HoH, plus auditory processing disorder and probably sensory processing disorder. Airports were a lot for me before the pandemic. Traveling now on an airplane with my mom would be impossible, since she also has ADHD and is HoH plus is a full-time electric lift wheelchair user and is immunosuppressed and extremely high-risk for COVID. Even if we both manage to understand everything spoken to us over all the noise and successfully get on the plane without being overwhelmed or confused, the airline could still break or lose her wheelchair in transit. I don't know if there are any trains or buses that are accessible to a six-foot-tall person in a 250+ lb electric lift wheelchair. She can't physically enter a lot of buildings and finding reliable wheelchair accessible public transportation locally is usually a nightmare. I really wish that the ADA was enforced so we actually had equal access to transportation in the US.
its true about emergency door. I'm mad at them. I said I'm deaf but I am with family. I can see whats going on or my family will tell me what's going on. but They forced me to sit in different seat. 😤😡🤬
Christopher my deaf family and i sit in the front because it would be easier and also we sit in normal seats. i never ever had to sit in another seat apart from my family. probably because we are all deaf with some hearing people.
Airports suck for all disabilities. I fly in a wheelchair and had ppl tell me my toddler had to walk behind us. It's like they don't think people with disabilities could possibly fly alone or have kids. Its so frustrating.
Yes! I am the adult child of a mom who uses an electric lift wheelchair full-time; she has a degenerative neuromuscular condition and can't lift herself or use a manual chair anymore. We are both HoH, but even if airports were totally accessible for the deaf, I know she would still be excluded and disrespected as a wheelchair user. At least Tammy Duckworth got a regulation added to the US Federal Aviation Administration bill that requires airlines to report when they break or lose wheelchairs. It's something.
They do need more accessible language signs as well hire ppl speak ASL . ASL at airport as Deaf mommy is critical I know my self its hard when traveling the lack of resources at airports r joke its 2020 we Definitely need to do BETTER MAKE IT ACCEPTABLE FOR ALL Have signs in ASL they billion dollar business airports so why can they not hire more people with disabilities let alone knowledge of ASL other languages to make everyone feel safe communicate effectively. I Adore you guy's love watching an learing new signs as im hearing mom my son is Deaf im still learing ASL but you guys give me laughs an learning new things as how handle different situations love the fact you guys are so real with it .keep cracking us up Love my Deafies💙💙 Happy holidays an merry Christmas you Sexy bitches😍💋💯💪🙏
Brillant vidéo !!! I’m a french coda myself and both of my parents are deaf. In Jan, I flew to NYC with my mum and I can totally relate on every seconds in this video, even the wheelchair waiting for her at landing. Airport and plane experience is something special 🤣🤣🤣. When you hear everything surrounding people are saying..... and the overall nervousness..... it can be very hectic for all. As her interpreter, this is no joke. 😬 thank you
My mom and me are both HoH and my mom is a full-time electric wheelchair user. When we go to the park together, dogs always bark at her. Is that because dogs are freaked out by motorized wheelchairs? Maybe some are, but our dog doesn't mind them at all. She even licks my mom's wheelchair and lays her head on it lovingly, like it's a part of my mom. I think that the humans walking the dogs immediately tense up when they see my mom in her wheelchair, so the dogs sense it and get nervous too. Hearing people and non-disabled people really need to calm down. It's not that serious.
This video's a long one. 💓 It's true that airports should improve its accommodation, not only for the deaf but to all. I, myself isn't deaf, but I dream of a world where inclusion exists. 😊
Yeah my mom and me are HoH and my mom uses a 200-300 lb electric lift wheelchair. Insurance wouldn't pay for it and buying a used one cost as much as a car (thousands of dollars). Airports where I live (the US) constantly lose and break wheelchairs and don't always reimburse passengers. Even if airports were made wholy accessible to D/HoH people, my mom would still be excluded because of her physical disabilities. We need universal access to solve both audism and ableism.
Can't stop laughing so hard since my sides hurting, GUFFAWED EVEN!!! True with the airlines... But I like the voices, who was their voice during those skits, i find it soothing....
I find it odd how America is one of the countries that doesn't have another language on their signs and stuff like countries in Germany, where things are written in English and German. I think it's sad that deaf people around the world are still having issues to accessing daily things in life such as a movie on an airplane. I realize that it's a better place in America, where some countries deaf kids and people are still treated horribly and have no language. I hope one day we can improve that. Got very emotional at the end. I want to write a letter to let companies know this as someone who is a deaf ally.
Deafies in Drag did their research well on the characters at the Airports especially Casavina and Zyafirah as TSA security guards (true they hold total power as airport security with attitude). Love every bit of that...
true me too hard to understand speaker said i alway follow lead to my family going ;). that all i do i just fly twice in 2 yrs ;) it is okay fly i hate fly lol.
I agree. I was in an airport at D.C. with a school group and we were going through security. I took my hearing aids off because of altitude and I put them in my case, so obviously I couldn't hear as well. We were putting our bags in the bins and one of the ladies was trying to talk to me. She got mad when I didn't respond so one of my chaperones had to tell her about my hearing loss. I was so embarrassed.😡😤
I totally understand that and the struggle, when I flew a few months ago I didn't even choose my seat on the plane and was placed in an emergency exit and then they made me move to the back of the plane and then they gave me chocolate and $20 off my next flight it was so dumb, annoying and embarrassing.
My mom got us exit row seats because she wanted extra room, (she thinks im not deaf) and told me to pretend I was hearing (her exact words were "dont act dumb"). I spent the entire time we were at the airport lecturing her about the fact that im deaf. Like I was at the point where I was fully prepared to cut her out of my life.
Omg. Those freaking wheel chairs. Even for people who need accessibility devices like that WHY DO THEY HAVE TO PUSH PEOPLE? I hate airports. And I fly monthly.
Mom: He's deaf!
Tsa agent: oh, ok.
*10 seconds later*
Tsa agent: WhAtS tHaT iN yOuR eAr??!?! 🥴🧐😱
THE ACCURACY

When your family orders the tickets they can put they are riding with someone who is deaf and then your family will be assigned seats with you
@Just Chill I think they believe deaf people cant hear alarm, or Deaf is disabled.. Disabled people cant sit by emergency door
Christopher my deaf family and i sit in the front because it would be easier and also we sit in normal seats. i never ever had to sit in another seat apart from my family. probably because we are all deaf with some hearing people.
Same here.
The first 16 minute long video! This is awesome.
Hi
Airports suck for all disabilities. I fly in a wheelchair and had ppl tell me my toddler had to walk behind us. It's like they don't think people with disabilities could possibly fly alone or have kids. Its so frustrating.
What was their reasoning? Why should it matter to the airport employees if shes beside or behind you?
@@blueturtle3623 the wheelchair attendant couldnt mannage to not smash him into the wall.

I’ve seen so many videos where deaf people in the airport always get a wheelchair because that’s the only thing handicapped people need 🙄😒 smh.....
Yall should make a parody for home alone

BTW Deafness isn't a disability.
@Christopher no its not because deaf is just a NORMAL person with a hearing loss.

Wait what I can leave my hearing aid and it not alarm😂
Might depend on the brand and how old the device
