Set your HUD to show all data for all ships. Press V at the beginning of every match. Set your ship direction indicators to around central element not around aim ellipsis. Set your minimap to appear beside your radar. Check your map often. Only use afterburners when needed. Your engine trails give away your position.
Also set your flight mode to basic so your can aim anywhere and take advantage of your turrets. Also show all ship info for your allies and enemies on your HUD.
