Thats because there isnt much hay out there. Dont get me wrong it moves quick, but it isnt nothing special. Our 2013 claas 980 is more efficient than our 990 claas
We have two different custom harvest company’s in northern lower Michigan they each run 4-5 claas choppers not sure what sizes buts it amazing how quick they can get stuff done.
Our local Claas dealer is the proud owner of the 30000th Claas Jaguar chopper. I believe it’s a 980 model, but it’s all black and is numbered a Jaguar 30000. We own a J980, and it really moves through the fields with alfalfa.
i thought i seen a video on here that said claas was doing away with that big mower they had also i seen at the farm show one year claas had a chopper they had twin inline 6 's in it did they go to the v12 to get away from the twin 6's or still offer it
That’s insane to see a chopper move that fast! My buddy’s 5288 was turned up at the pump and still don’t think it had 200hp and 3-4 mph you knew the chopper and dump cart were there, those guys look to be chopping 10mph at times if not more
It has to chop lots of material into small pieces, and in the case of corn, crack all of the kernels too and then shoot the material into a truck, all while maintaining a speed of 4-10 mph
It is amazing to see how harvesting has changed. The 5ft tractor mower was a big jump from the horse drawn mower and the horse drawn from a hand sickle. It will be interesting to see where the tech goes from here. Thank you for watching.
The tracked Jaguar is longer than a wheeled one. Mark from Claas mentions the extension plate when he shows the service area inside the chopper during the video.
This farm had a John Deere chopper that went down so they called a neighbor with this 990. Unfortunately the weather was hot and dry. Sometimes you just have to roll and get the crop in. Claas, Krone, Deere Or New Holland all would have loss because of the dry crop.
5th and/or 6th cutting of alfalfa is usually in the hot part of the year and when the yield is lower since the crop is preparing for winter. That’s just an average end of the year cutting.
Man that machine is flying!

It moves right along. The tracks help speed up the ride.
And losing a lot of the leaves with it.
That service area is really neat. One of my favorite parts of farm machinery is the engineering that goes into being able to service them.
You have never worked on a chopper have you.... or you would change your mind
WOW!!! That is some speed, equipment and efficiency. Thanks Jason. Two thumbs up 👍👍
Thank you Scott. It’s a monster chopper. I have one in corn on the way.
@@bigtractorpower Definitely looking forward to that Jason.
Very impressed I was wowed. Love the sound AND NO MUSIC EXCELLENT JOB
I am so amazed by the latest farm technology.
Man that machine is a beast.
They look like they are on an Expressway!✈️✈️
👍😁
They are getting it done very fast👍😉
Nice video again👍
Wow what a machine!
We have two different custom harvest company’s in northern lower Michigan they each run 4-5 claas choppers not sure what sizes buts it amazing how quick they can get stuff done.
It was in Hopkins and yes it flies at like 12 mph
I never realize there was so much room in the back to do maintenance on that’s kind of nice and the speed of that thing goes that’s insane
The 990 is chopping at 12 mph. I thought viewers might like seeing how roomy the service compartment is.
Great Vlog, I thought the 980 was up there! the 990 takes things to a new level
The next step is 1,000 hp choppers. Krone is already there with their model 1100 Big X. New Holland, Claas and Deere are almost there.
Bellissimo video 🙋♂️ 😊 🌈 👍
Claas = Class
👍👍
wow, this machine is a beast!
😁👍👍
Great video
No words, just amazing, thanks for sharing
Holy Cow; What a monster.
The 990 is an impressive chopper.
Great video!👍
Thank you for watching.
Moving right along.
It sure covers the acres.
I have to wonder what the fuel consumption would be on a V12 being put to work like that. Thank you for the video.
I guess about 48 gallons per hour if it's running at full power.
Great Video !!!!!
Thank you for watching.
I remember when Class big chopper in our area was the pull type with it's own motor on the drawbar frame, man they could eat some grass.
The farm I work for swear by claas chopper's have had one for the past 20 years from a 850 to now a 2018 980 that thing can eat up some feed.
Great history. Thank you for sharing.
Do you know how much one of those big beasts cost? Great video
I do not know. Unfortunately Claas does not have a build your own feature on its website.
Well I about $million plus. The huge 45' mower is around million.
Look them up online they are for sale new and used.
At my dealer think there now running about 650k
Nice 👍...you would’ve worked the drone a bit harder on this one Jason ,that’s an impressive speed and capacity, thanx for the upload
Really good video & very informative, what a machine!!👌
Awesome machine!!! I know what I am getting myself for Christmas!! Could be hard to explain to the wife, we live in the city!
What a machine compared to 15-20 years ago. Can't wait to deere's version with tracks.
It will be interesting to see if factory tracks are offered by other forage harvester producers.

There are several of the black ones, not just the one which is actually the 30000th. It was a special "black edition" at the time.
that was interesting alfalfa is kinda new to me I used to farm Tobacco , soybeans. and pigs. and a cover crop. But I live in NC
Alfalfa is a big dairy feed in many places. Thank you for watching.
Good video thanks
Thank you for watching Brad.
Great video and what a machine , havent seen one here in England yet tho lol
Thank you for watching. I think Class released the Terra Track in Europe in 201&. I am sure it’s a pricey option.
MAGNIFIQUE vidéo 👍😉🇧🇪
Thank you for watching.

What a beast, but still 260 hp down compared to a Krone 1180. Wonder how they compare in tonnes/hour in heavy corn silage
Good Video!!
Thank you for watching.

The tracks help smooth out the ride and speed up the harvest.
Hello! Piece of cake...
Hi.
Gave you a 👍🏻 🇺🇸⚓️🇺🇸 USN VET
Thank you for watching I really appreciate it and thank you for your service
Looks like Duffy Ag set up at 1:04
It is indeed him.
WOW!
Thank you for watching.
When I made my apprenticeship back in Germany we had a customer with a Jaguar with V10 Deutz Diesel. Times have changed from the mid 80‘s. 😬😬
Will you visit Duffy ags farm?
He sent me some great footage of his harvest. Stay tuned for a full feature video.
Close to home for me. I'm in Berrien County.
HELL YEAH
Thank you for watching.
🔥🔥🔥
Buys chopper with tracks for reduced compaction....runs trucks with standard duals. Btw, footage is great as always.
They need a track tractor with a LARGE tracked cart. Then let the semi sit on the Headlands.
Is that a dairy farm? How many cow?
How many acres?
💥💥💥
Your videos are great! Anyway you can meet up with one lonely farmer?
Nice video Jason, but all the feed value of that last 2020 cut is literally blowing away in the wind.
One of those tough harvests. The crops ready but the weather is dry. Sometimes you just have to get it in.
💪💪💪💪
must have had a redbull cause that thing has wings!
It’s a bird 🦅 it’s a plane ✈️ no it’s Super Chopper!! Thanks.
😁👍👍
Why so much more horsepower than combines ?
It has to chop lots of material into small pieces, and in the case of corn, crack all of the kernels too and then shoot the material into a truck, all while maintaining a speed of 4-10 mph
Because combines do not chop the plant material and they only process smal part of the plants. Choppers have to process whole plant.
😍😍😍
The alfalfa looks like it's blowing away ha
It was hot and dry. Not ideal conditions but sometimes you just have to go. The hay was mowers and it had to be chopped.
@@bigtractorpower yeah I have seen it before. I just could hear the power lol
I noticed that you didn't give the price for that machine?
Claas does not provide list prices on their website unfortunately.
👍👍👍
👍
Can you please do a case ih 540?
If I find one to to film. I just featured a new AFS 620 yesterday and I have an AFS 580 on the way.
Wow
Thank you for watching.

Just think, my friend would cut alfalfa with a 5 foot sickle mower and I would rake with a 10 foot rake. Times change, I’m 70 years old.
It is amazing to see how harvesting has changed. The 5ft tractor mower was a big jump from the horse drawn mower and the horse drawn from a hand sickle. It will be interesting to see where the tech goes from here. Thank you for watching.
Run a claas jaguar 840 central wi
Very nice forge harvester. I have a 930 CLAAS filmed for a May 2022 release.
Tracks makes it look longer then if it had rubber

Germany First
Early gang
So sad that the wind is blowing it away the way it is. Most of that loss is the best part of the plant unfortunately.
I think I would have just bailed it instead of letting it blow away like that.
Am I first
Yes indeed. Thank you for your enthusiasm to watch the video.
Do you want a medal?
WOW.............a lot of material loss !! My choice is the Krone over the Claas machine.
This farm had a John Deere chopper that went down so they called a neighbor with this 990. Unfortunately the weather was hot and dry. Sometimes you just have to roll and get the crop in. Claas, Krone, Deere Or New Holland all would have loss because of the dry crop.
@@bigtractorpower Yes I agree, any harvesters would have the same loss due to the dry crop condition; however, I would still go with Krone.
Truck drivers back= broken
Not impressed. Look how much is "blowing in the wind".
It was hot and dry. Some times you just have to go. You have to film them as you find them. This was the last field of the year.
5th and/or 6th cutting of alfalfa is usually in the hot part of the year and when the yield is lower since the crop is preparing for winter. That’s just an average end of the year cutting.
Fast
12 mph
I’m sorry to any fans of Claas but I really do not like their machines.
Why?
@@techHmrk it’s not an American company and I just have bias because of it. I don’t really like bias but I have it towards American companies.
@@chiefwahoo1196 but did you know that the John Deere Choppers are made in Germany too?
