What a great sport and champion. Mikala’s respect for, and friendship with, her fellow competitors is pitch perfect. I never wanted to be on the podium because my top rivals skied out or worse, crashed out in a way that compromised their safety not only for that event, but for future events. I always wanted to win after they laid down their best run. We should emulate Mikala’s sportsmanship as much as her fantastic skills and sense of tactics.

Wake up USA TV. We have the world's most incredible athlete and you aren't showing her.

Yes they are. Eurosport coverage is carried on Discovery+.
You object: "You have to pay for that"
Who is going to pay for it to be on basic cable or broadcast networks? Advertisers? Nope.
      Anyone else? Nope.
The best you can hope for from "free" TV is the occasional highlight hour on NBC for world championships or finals or maybe Shiffrin hitting 100.

@@blindleader42 They can cover high school football and boring sports like bowling they should cover the US's best athlete. I shouldn't have to bring up an app for that. She deserves better.

Sorry, but that's a whole lot of weak tea. It's no comparison to a sport that few Americans have a clue about.

If you look very closely at her upper body and where it is going in relation to her skis, you will see that the positioning of her upper body straight down the hill while her skis are completing a turn, is what changes the leg angle and rolls the skis over. In other words, as her skis are going to the right, her upper body is heading back down the fall line. The skis keep going which creates the new leg angle and the skis roll over. All she is doing besides going straight down the hill is changing her weight and balance from the downhill to the uphill ski as they cross under her. She is riding the skis, not forcing them to change direction.

this can be said for all the skiers actually. at this level very little separates them. shiffrin's skill is that her upper body stays more still and steady than most of the other women. also she releases her edges slightly sooner to get smoother turns and lose less speed. looks easy but is for sure not. her learning to ski at killington and the icy East of the USA probably helped with learning how to release edges at the proper time to prevent skidding. most of Europe's skiers generally have better snow so their experience on ice may not be as great as shiffrin's. that new young skier from croatia zrinka ljutic is someone special...and sara hector in the GS was controlled aggression to the max! great weekend in Slovakia!

@KimNguyen-qr9yp The point of my comment was to teach people how she is skiing. What she is doing to allow her skis to turn. Saying, "Release the edges." doesn't teach anything. That's the difference between teaching someone how you think about skiing and just talking about it.
