I've actually worked out how to fix most of Other M's problems with the minimal amount of changes - literally just remove all of Samus' inner monologue. All of it. Only include her voice lines when she opens her mouth, don't let us inside and make us interpret. So many scenes suddenly work once we don't know the dumb, pointless things Sakamoto thinks she's thinking.
But the gameplay would still be stanky and Adam would still exist.
Actually... The Japanese audio Samus sounds so much better. In the English audio it's clear that she's just reading
A scrip during her inner monologues while she sounds just fine in regular cutscenes.

@@diegomedina9637 it's one of theses cases where the fanbase already made a personality for the character and creator made another that conflicts with the one that the fanbase created, and besides that she end up going to Zebes like 3 times? and killed Ridley 2 times by that point you would assume that she would be used to it and it's still really retarded that Samus needs permission to use her suit abilities

Metroid gets the most interesting romhacks. Mario and Zelda get more, but Metroid often has really unique stuff in them
There's another I've been following the development for for a while now; a hack called X-Fusion, a reimagining of Metroid Fusion in SM's engine, and it looks like it's going to be another Super Zero Mission (IE: raise the bar for future SM hacks). It's getting close to being done and I caaaaan't wait

Depends. There are a good hand full of Metroid hacks that have a pretty neat palette swaps and such, but many are pretty vanilla. Mario has way more interesting hacks in terms of aesthetic design and mechanical changes. As for Zelda, Zelda Classic has a huge library of fan made zelda games.
Zelda romhacks are technical improvements to the engine, metroid is new singleplayer content, and mario is just... Yeah, super toadio 64 and memes.
ngl i do prefer lunar magic made super mario worlds with goofy level designs over the hard metroid hacks since as a kid i was no where near my brothers level of metroid skill or even parents. man i feel old yet here i am talking about my childhood with emulators and hacked roms. i only played one snes zelda hack so i can't judge them fairly.

WhenEVER Vinny does the Capt. N Mother Brain voice...it's gold. It's not often the conversation dips into that territory....it usually takes an actual Metroid stream to do it...but I'm always giddy about it. And yes, the 'stomach indigestion' sound was taken from the Tourian track and thrown over the other track...Red Brinstar...a comical decision.

keeping her running momentum through jumps, removing the floatiness of her movement, Respin (going into a spin midair) and more.
I recommend going to Metroid Construction and taking a look at what's there.

I know everyone always questions why the Space Pirates continually design their bases and ships with Morph-Ball-sized tubes, but I feel the more interesting question is who was the genius who decided to make half the switches in said base only operable by blasting it with a missile? Surely high explosives are not the most convenient substitute for a button.
I like to think ( which AM2R alludes to) that the bomb or boost switches are actually a type of battery sockets and samus simply uses bombs or kinetic energy to kickstart the device (maybe the chozo designed the power-ups that way) . The morphball tunnels are simply industrial vents and maintenance tunnels abandoned and broken. So probably using missiles isn't the "official" way to do it. It's just Samus doing a "you can't just shoot a hole on the surface of mars".

I'm really liking the color pallets for the environment. If there's one thing I've always found underwhelming about Super Metroid it's the fact so many of the environments are overwhelmingly shades of a single or two colors.
I'd highly recommend you check out the hack "super metrpid ancient chozo". The overall structure is mostly similar to the base game, but the visual design is fantastic. To give an example, they've got some areas in maridia that look like the red part of brinstar but flooded to make the transition between the two areas more natural

I'm kind of surprised no one has remade metroid in Terraria using the early game equipment to let you wall jump and climb higher and stuff. But like, it's not metroid just the level design and upgrades system is similar

There was a comment in here where someone asked Vinny if there was a FF1 randomizer and he didn't know, to answer that, not only is there a FF1 randomizer it's possibly the most popular one for speedrunners, speedgaming holds pretty regular tournaments that quite a few people join. 1 is honestly such a short game and the randomizer leads to some super interesting paths.

Nintendo usually goes ballistic with hacks that are helluva advertised, so it's best to play safe for the time being.

Vinny is the Supa Hot Fire of Super Metroid Speedrunning 8:18
In regards to Vitality btw, I'd say it'd prob be best to hold off on it until Halloween and also worth saying in advance that it's kind of difficult and you'll have to play around with your SNES's brightness settings because the AU game is dark as fuck (literally dark, not figuratively) and without spoiling anything it does get mildly gorey and dark (figuratively) toward the end. It's not undeserving of the praise it's gotten but it's definitely jank in a few places.
Other M was such a big departure. You still got some of that in Samus Returns, trying to turn Metroid into a Ninja action game, straying harder and harder from its sci-fi horror roots, save for the look of some of the metroids being like a Xenomorph. But, outside of cut-scenes, more like an action Y7 show's, anyway, its too action-oriented, your hand is too held, especially with being able to smack everything in the face, then send a barrage of missiles at it, taking away any sort of tension, the level design was too messed with, and Samus now further has something else to add to her record. Ridley comes in way too earlier, and, despite barely looking like he's dead, she just gives the Metroid to the station, now, when the intro to 3 means all had been irradicated, and the Metroids were also down to just one, that one larva. But, with Ridley still active, that's proof the same thing can happen, again. She was more just being weary, after everything, not believing everything could be over, before leaving. But, now, she's a neglectful idiot, despite knowing this all started when space pirates stole just a DNA sample of a Metroid.
So, it's the 35th birthday of Metroid, huh? Well, to celebrate Nintendo will probably bring Metroid Prime Trilogy on switch...
It will cost 80 dollars, will be a worse emulation than on Wii with no improvements whatsoever and it will be playable until March 31 2021. On that day, the digital version will auto delete and the physical version will self destruct Mission Impossible - style :P
An actual Self-destruct timer will start in real life

most of the gameplay for this is vinny trying to reach places and do things repeatedly and chat frustrated and trying to help him
then again, thats just the super metroid charm anyway
You can finish it without walljumping, most of the hardest items are optionals. They either fall into 3 categories:
-free on the terrain
-puzzle to solve or challenge to pass
-exploration secret
That said the hack difficulty fall into "veteran" for:
beginner, veteran, expert
So its not easy,
there isnt a beginner version of it, but there is easier hacks to start with ; )
The difficulty curve in a metroid is interesting because the more optionals items you get the easier the late game get
but getting all those optionals items to make the later game easier is not easy.
Doing 50/50 mean a normal difficulty the whole way through
and doing a low items mean a straight path to the end game but an hard one

Honestly prime trilogy would probably garner a remaster. Especially since it's wasn't even truly ported to the wii-u and was just a wii emulation. Would be neat if they used that as a chance to sneak in cut content and potentially flesh out prime 2 multiplayer
I'd say keep your expectations tempered. If we do get anything, it'll be the bare minimum, like with the Mario 3D collection. Probably just a ROM of the prime trilogy collection that was on wii

This hack has been around for years
Romhacks cant be taken down for copyright infringement unless they contain other nintendo content which was added to the rom externally. Romhacks are distributed via patch files which only contain the data that is changed from the original rom, so unless the hack adds more copyrighted content, it's perfectly legal.
Romhacks are still in a grey area,
they are modifications its more safe but not 100% safe
but if you want to do level design metroid style then its a good place to start
you should play the dolphin mod for metroid prime called primehack
