should be same as crystal since its based off the same equipment and hardware with components removed. Personally i have tried a few rx lenses from VR-Rock and VROptician and neither met my expectations. Existing Local Dimming on Crystal is identical with the Crystal Light 899usd version's Local dimming. Same panels and same backpanels. The 699usd version has same panels but normal backlight without dimming zones and therefore without local dimming.
Whats with the Microphone quality of the Pimax Crystal Light? How good is it? Is it better than the Quest 2 Microphone? Everything else was already explained to me but i want to know for a fact how good the Microphone quality is. Thanks in adavance
Nope. But the already existing Crystal has eye tracking and upcoming Crystal Super as well. Eye tracking would significantly bring the cost up. One of the main reasons Light has it's price tag.
I returned this for a Quest 3. I just wasn’t blown away like when I went from Oculus Rift S to Reverb. The edge to edge clarity from Quest is also a lot better than with the PCL. I’ll probably go Crystal Super though, that resolution sounds very promising to me.
Great, now give the same package to us in a 170degree FOV package - thanks. p.s. How is eye fatigue with the Crystal Light compared to the 8K-X? I find I get tired / drained with the 8K-X over an hour or so due to the heat and EMF with the panels up close to my eyes. Go to keep hydrated with a salt lamp close by. Maybe the newer panels with local dimming will help. Thanks Martin.👍
As a former owner of an 8KX it's night and day difference! You wont regret it. Less troublesome. So much more clear! I gave up on my 8kx. Sold it for $200.00 just to get rid of it. Upgraded to crystal and wow! It's by far the best clearest head set i have ever seen and used. The controls still suck. Not a fan of quest style and it felt a little jittery. I ended up getting the faceplate tracker thing too. Now i can use my index control with it. So yeah totally good upgrade from an 8kx to crystal.
@@aecii_3d I just don't want to part with the FOV of the 8K-X. Also don't want inside out tracking but I would think the main thing going for the Crystal are the Panels. For me the 8K-X is a weird thing, as we do not have published pixel usage from Pimax (how much of the screens era are used from the 4096 x 2160 it is a hit or miss to get the SS dialed in for a good image. One either has to go low pixel count with pixel shimmering and image aliasing or one has to go high but then need a decent GPU to drive it. The blurriness comes from the in between where the SS pixel density does not sit well with the screens native res. With the 2880 x 2880 count on the Crystal Screens it is easier to run it at close to native res and get a clear image. Remembering you most likely need a 4070Ti or a 7900 XT to get those resolutions at 75 or more fps. I am not remembering if Pimax also with the Crystal made the screens adjustable in relation to the lenses as opposed to the 8K series where it was just the image on the screen hence the under full native panel res utilization allowing for some vertical and sideways adjustment.
Thank you pimax for a clear and affordable upgrade path for my HP Reverb G2, timing is perfect regarding the abandoned support for windows mixed reality😀
@PimaxVR hello, can you please give us the minimum configuration required for the pimax crystal light, especially for the cpu, with an i5 11400f cpu and with an rtx 3060 ti gpu will it be good? Thanks, have a good day..
if you already own a VR-headset you can test it out yourself. just set the steamvr resolution to 2880x2880 or something close to it. that will be your performance with crystal running at native. you dont have to run it at native resolution to get the benefits of the industry-leading lenses and panels though, feel free to turn it down a bit if it is choppy. if you dont have a VR-headset i can give you my best guess: CPU is not relevant to the headset, only to the game. and the 3060ti will do fine, it might not play everything at native resolution or at max fps, or with all the graphics turned to max, you will often have to choose which of those 3 are more important to you, but it will do well.

The lack of eye tracking for dynamic foveated rendering is a deal breaker on the light imo. I would like to see a later light model (2.0) with eye tracking at base, or as an optional extra, similar to the local dimming option. Would also like to see the bottom USB slot kept / integration of an optional hand tracking module. But less important, as there’s always Leap Motion stand alone tracker.
@@adrenalinejunkie3828 Which is why I suggested eye tracking as an optional extra from the base $700, or a version with eye tracking at a higher price point. So that you end up with a headset in the $900-1000 price bracket, as it’s for PC VR only you don’t need / want the battery pack and other aspects that the Crystal has at $1600. For example the Vive has an optional extra eye tracking add on for $290, the PSVR2 has eye tracking and is $530 - PS / Sony has much larger economies of scale most likely, but the Vive add on shows it should be in the $200-300 price point to add even at smaller volumes.

If only Pimax has this earlier, I wouldn't have bought the $900 Aero. But since you guys finally are back to the right track, I am excited again for the 8k QLED Super. It might be the ultimate headset for me. $1799 is a little high, but the 50 ppd definitely justifies its worth. I hope Pimax will give us some discount for being a 5k super customer.
Crystal Light is a low or zero calorie powdered drink mix marketed as a convenient way to interrupt boredom with plain water and stay hydrated. The ingredients in Crystal Light vary by variety but are overall a combination of alternative sweeteners, preservatives, and artificial colors and flavors
So much information apart from the FOV. Will it be like the 8KX ? Why is this so important piece of information is missing ? I bet most of the followers of the Pimax are following because of their appreciation for high FOV.
I have my eye on this headset, but I am disappointed that these speakers are not built in as standard. I'll have to wait until the first reviews come in regarding wearing comfort, sweet spot and overall picture quality, maybe then I can retire my Reverb G2.
Hi Martin. Great video. I’m wanting to upgrade to the Crystal Light local dimming version. I run a G2 at the moment on a i9 12900k with 32gb ram and a 4090. I only play Sim racing. Will my specs be enough to run the Crystal Light as good as the G2. Many thanks.
It could be nice if you could mount a battery in the back and use wireless gaming. That's the ONLY downside with the crystal light. It could be the absolute perfect headset ever made, if wireless receiver and battery to run the wireless connection was added. Just put it all in the back of the headset for additional counterweight
Iam a Quest 1 user since it launched and it's a very old tech by now and im seeking to buy a Crystal Light since i care about high resolution and good black levels, i barely use the quest 1 in standalone and i prefer a PCVR
This is really some nice piece of hardware and i am going to buy it. Well done Pimax. Valve seems to have given up on PCVR and we stand there in shambles with people buying VR to play Androidgames. When you go that route further you can become our all saviours 😆
@dtz1000 Really? I assume there's a reason for that. My assumption would be that since Bigscreen doesn't have warehouses in other countries while pimax does, meaning globally shipped products are much more expensive. The super will have
I returned this for a Quest 3.
Thank you pimax for a clear and affordable upgrade path for my HP Reverb G2, timing is perfect regarding the abandoned support for windows mixed reality😀
can VR-Wave prescription lenses be added/used?
Looks amazing! Pre-ordered already
@@tomduke1297 Thank you for your response, personally I have the HP Reverb g2 v2 and I have no problem getting it to work! But I ask the question because for the moment regarding the pimax crystal light, pimax has not yet provided the minimum configuration required! on the internet there are the minimum configuration required for the pimax crystal but nothing for the pimax light! I would just like to know if with an Intel i5 11400f cpu it will be compatible as was the case with the HP Reverb G2 v2! If you can answer me, I would really appreciate it, thank you.
@@bbbbbbbibiya2344 there is no reason i could think of why a 11gen intel cpu should be unable to run the crystal light.
@@tomduke1297I hope, that's what I told myself, thank you for your answer, but I hope that Pimax will also give details regarding the minimum configuration required so that people who want this pimax crystal light will not have problems compatibility!
I'll bring you some benchmark video soon!
Does Martin work for Pimax? I assume so... so why does he say things like, "as far as I can tel... etc." ??
does he know or not know?
I do work for Pimax. Although Im not developing the headsets. And there's always some information that don't reach me on time, or I simply forget to ask. When I do these videos, I always want to explore and test the headsets from my own perspective, just like before when I was a VR TH-camr.
@SweViver appreciate the reply Martin! BTW - i'm on the pre-order list as of today!
Pimax very obviously didn't fully inform him about lots of details related to the very headset he is provided to discuss. Not sure why though...?
Hey Pimax!Did you know thin is in? I currently have a Pimax and I really like it,But I don’t see myself buying a newer one unless it’s something like the Bigscreen Beyond.I hope one day you can build one better and I will definitely buy one. Thanks!
This is everything we have been wanting for pc vr
Yes, there is too many potential vr enthusiast whom doesn't have a light housetracking and want full PCVR headset that doesn't cost beyond grand.
How long is the cable?
5m
i ordered the 699 version.... but if later i change my mind and want the dim dots can i change my mind? i may want the more expensive one if the reviews are good
@PimaxVR , I wish you would offer a bundle comprising the Crystal Light and the DMAS Earphones
will the MR faceplate work with it when that is available?
Haven't heard if MR will be compatible, but Lighthouse faceplate is compatible already.
That would be excellent
@@adrenalinejunkie3828 yeah but will need the money you save on the light version to invest in stronger pc to run it.
@@adrenalinejunkie3828Any older Pimax "Vision" series headset with eye-tracking would be cheaper.
No one complains about the Bigscreen Beyond not having eye tracking but everyone complains about Pimax not having it for some reason.
@@paulct91 The eye tracking module for the older Vision series headsets is junk.
Also whats the minimum/recommended System requirements for it?
@@adrenalinejunkie3828 i used a pimax with the 4070 IGOT 15 20 FPS in dcs native res with eye tracking dfr 60 FPS removing eye tracking was a big mistake
How is the FOV of the crystal light compared tothe quest 3
practically identical. i think it technically has a few degrees more, but not enough to notice if you ask me.
Does the Crystal Light have external camera monitor?
What's that supposed to be?
It features monochrome passthrough.
Hecking nice. How about local dimming when using a daytime car racing sim? Is there a noticeable difference then?
How many compromises will I have to make with a RTX 4080 and 5800 X3D?
a lot now that they removed eye tracking
whats the fov i havnt seen it anywhere
I want pimax crystal super dumble but how soon will it be released? if it's in a year it's a bit too long :/
Shipping starts in Q4 this year
THAT'S IT GUYS
FINALLY!

has the super qled local dimming?
Almost undoubtedly
@@CaptainBiggles. sure? didn`t find anything about it, 912x912 for the 2880x2880 version yes, but no info for the super
@@ChristianMihawk yes it does have local dimming.
@@michagysin3082 Thought it would. If the cheap Light has it, the Super would almost definitely include it
@@ChristianMihawk It's the Crystal Super that has 912 local dimming zones per eye. The Crystal Light only has 576 per eye, I think.
Perfect. Perfect 👌🏾 Amazon stock it then I buy it
i wish! I feel so much more comfortable buying through amazon than them. At least that way I can specify amazon locker pickup.
I bought two crystals, the first one was left on my porch no id required despite being a signature required!
Second one was dropped off next day of order! Ninjas! But yea talk about stressful.
It was unexpected for us and maybe for you too in some way xD.. A very good surprise.. Hope Pimax will provide me one for a test on the chanel for the french speaking community.
It's the one.
Thank you ❤cant wait to get my hands on
wish they had a version of this that could be a couple hundred more with the eyetracking for fovated rendered to help those with a lesser grapics card
seems like pimax could get „mainstream“ with this thing. congratulations! already pre-orderer!
are you aware there is no eye tracking
@@martales8563 i am. i have no use of eye tracking. except for DCS, but I dont play that sim anymore anyways.
I bought a Pimax Crystal, and I am very disappointed. I don't understand where to get spare parts, for example, if something needs to be replaced.
Looking forward to it 👁👁
Hi
What are PC requirements? May I use it as PC monitor to watch high-resolution 360 travel and nature videos on TH-cam?
@adrenalinejunkie3828 Thank You.
Hi
Could you tell me please - what option of Crystal should I buy just to watch high resolution 360 TH-cam videos. Do I need controllers or anything else or just a headset alone?
Thanks.
I wish it had a more compact form but really longing an upgrade from my HP reverb g2 for my simpit (MSFS, DCS). Good quality PCVR with cable to a solid pc works for me. Ordering local dimming version. (I can get a quest 3 for stand-alone games/modes).
G2 owner here also thinking of upgrading to this. I was happy with the G2 but the overheating cable nonsense has started.
did you fix the tracking?
Tracking is on par with current Crystal inside-out tracking. Watch the video, there's a whole chapter on it.
12:47 - Tracking portion.
I love you for making this
I reserved mine immediately after seeing VR Flight Sim Guy videos on these new VR headsets from Pimax !
Hehe Steve knows it's gonna be a killer!
Does this need base stations for Steam VR or no?
No.
Thank you!
I hope it will be usable for prescription glasses users...
Why the front panel is so big? So large? It's totally useless...
Can't wait 🙏
PCVR ❤🎉
This is the way!!
Next one more of the same, but lighter please! let's try to aim at no more than 250gms.
Simulator users needed this.
To run this Pimax correctly u need the rtx4090. I have the Crystal atm i dont know about this light Version
So final version doesn't exist yet... lol
Will we be beta testers again?!
Many thanks.
will your specs be enough? well, yes, you do have a 4090 so you already have the best gpu out there.
free shipping would be nice!!
Pasthrough?
Nice video mate!! Keep up the good work..is Joshua Son doing ok?
Please make it compatible with the wireless 60g module 🙏🏼, I don’t care if I have to get a battery!
It could be nice if you could mount a battery in the back and use wireless gaming. That's the ONLY downside with the crystal light.
It could be the absolute perfect headset ever made, if wireless receiver and battery to run the wireless connection was added.
Just put it all in the back of the headset for additional counterweight
Great idea, though why even the Crystal SUPER doesn't have that is weird, Pimax might be removing wireless even from the 12K too.
Where are wide FOV lenses???
Crystal Light will use the same 35PPD lenses as Crystal. Lenses are not interchangeable on Light.
@@SweViver I’m talking about the original crystal that I own and they promised the wide FOV and yet still nothing
@@Jafarnldshould be shipping anytime. Reviewers already got the final samples, so I assume these are getting manufactured now

Me too
Awaiting reviews, skeptical in the build quality as the Crystal was a let down considering the cost
When you go that route further you can become our all saviours 😆

the Bigscreen Beyond killer
And hopefully no rip-off pricing for countries outside the USA like you got with the Bigscreen Beyond.
@dtz1000 Really? I assume there's a reason for that. My assumption would be that since Bigscreen doesn't have warehouses in other countries while pimax does, meaning globally shipped products are much more expensive. This is me before I've actually checked the markup though.
Edit: one thing mentioned is European prices are also shown with tax included while in the uS they aren't
