Visiting the very cool Virginia Beach Military Aviation Museum

The Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach is currently ranked number 2 on TripAdvisor's list of the top things to do in Virginia Beach, Virginia. A lot of people seem to really enjoy it. But in spite of the fact that we have been to Virginia Beach many times (used to live there, in fact) and have experienced many attraction that Virginia Beach has to offer, we had never visited the Military Aviation Museum. This summer, that changed as we toured this museum in the Pungo section of Virginia Beach. There were several hangers of planes from World War I and World II - along with lots of other artifacts and exhibits. And we even see some dinosaurs along the way. Is this museum as good as a lot of people say it is? Check out our experience there and let us know what you think in the comments!

Yep, that museum is a hidden gem... I happened to go there with a late aviation friend of mine as was struck by how "hands on" it felt compared to many aviation museums -- the German (WW1) triplane and the ME-262 (still flyable as I recall) were very unusual...

Very interesting video. Lots of really cool things to see. I agree, the plane flight cost is pretty steep. Sorry they didn't have the demonstration that day. Loved the 1950 Jaguar though.
I was never interested in War or history until recent years. I regret that now because my dad was a WWII Survivor but I didn't understand what that all meant since I wasn't interested in history. He never talked about the war to me before but my brothers told me so much after he passed. Now war museums and planes have become something I enjoy learning about. We are fortunate enough to have friends and family who are pilots. We have a friend who owns an airport and several airplanes including Stearman. He's been quite generous offering rides and even access to events. It's too bad I waited so late in life to fully understand the sacrifices and to appreciate all of the artifacts that survived the Wars. Awesome video and great coverage.

The red Jaguar XK120 in the Navy Hanger was restored by my former neighbor, Ivan Joslin, a retired Navy Captain in the Supply Corps and an all-around great guy.

Great exhibits in this museum. I would love to ride in that little plane. Nice cars. How weird is the MESSERSCMIT KR200 8:21 Loved all the airplanes in the Hangers. Great to see they moved and protected the Watch Tower. Great artefacts from the war period. No, I agree with the Dinosaur exhibit not fitting in with the Aviation Museum. I agree. If you hadn’t been there, you can’t really recommend it, but man, it is really well done. Yes, that’s a lot to fly, but my husband would have done it. Love all the planes and the cars.
That's a pretty good Museum, we love are museums. I'm with you jack, $300 is a little steep, just recently I had the opportunity to fly in the world only flying B-29 but at $3,000 a ride I couldn't bring myself to do it😂😂 thanks for sharing, if we go that way we're definitely going to take a tour of that place looks like fun. I probably would have done the ride in the WWII warbird aircraft. That would be very cool! We visited a similar type museum in Tucson Arizona called the Pima Air and Space Museum which we thought was very interesting, but we both work for a major US airline, so we are always interested in aircraft. This looks like a great museum, so if we are ever out in the Virginia Beach area I would love to stop in here. The dinosaurs are fun too. Thanks for the tour! 👍😊
That is one place we have never gone in Virginia Beach. Not sure Keith nor I are up for riding in that 2 seater plane. They do have some interesting things to see there. Do love the amphicars.

A really impressive collection of airplanes. This video is nice but did not do the airplane collection justice. It's probably the best private collection on the East Coast ...certainly in regards to WW-2.
I believe the dinosaurs were originally there to entertain children.
