Back in the early '80s these guys used to come see me play and tell me how great we sounded. Truth is I (personally) and most of the musicians I played with couldn't hold a candle to 'em. But that's the way they were - very gracious and unpretentious. I had the good fortune of playing onstage with Doug once. He filled in for an absentee bassist and, while he didn't know the material well, was more than adequate musically and quite the showman as well. Good memories.
Shades of Phil Lynot (Thin Lizzy). Heavy rock with soul, groove, blues is the ultimate in my book. Most heavy metal lost that soul/blues groove after the 70's, but not these guys.
3 piece with a mammoth sound. Ty Tabor is amazing he has this slick "greasy" (and I mean that in a good way) style/sound makes it sound so effortless when he plays. The way he mixes thunderous bottom and picking cleanly through chords on a strat, clean to driven is so unique, what a great band. We need guys like this this today, music today totally sucks.
Ty was known for taking the label off his amps & speakers so people couldn't copy his killer tone. Their entire sound was unique. Those massive guitar riffs with those glorious harmonies over them!
King's X has always been very overlooked. They've done everything they should have done to become big...big videos, late-night tv shows, Woodstock 2. Singer Doug Pinnick has even talked about it publicly. They've done everything required but it never put them over the top except for having a couple of minor hits in the 80's. It's part of their charm...that they are as good as any of the big rock bands but never got huge.
I saw them in Virginia Beach and Hartford CT They kick ass, they actually did it's love in Virginia Beach, they don't do that song for some reason a lot AWESOME BAND
Yes, it is a shame they aren't a household name. They definitely deserve it. I even put in my vote for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They were and are that good. One thing for them that trumps everything else. They are STILL together and STILL making music. How many bands can say that they have been together for over twenty years going on 30. God Bless Kings X. A VERY VERY VERY and I'll say it again, A VERY SPECIAL BAND.
Same here. I remember being like 12 years old and making the transition from cassette to CD. My first two CDs were this and a Lenny Kravitz CD (I can't remember which one). My last cassette was Guns N' Roses, Illusion 2. I have never gotten into streaming. I download a lot of stuff, but I still love CDs. I still have some of my LP's from my childhood too. I can proudly say that I have always listened to the same type of music that I did when I was a kid. I have always been a rock guy. My first album was a Poison album (haha, Yeah, i know..but I was like 5)..and I still listen to rock and metal. Never got side tracked by the pop stuff like Backstreet Boys, like so many of my friends did hahaha.
106.3 the blaze in Lincoln must have played the heck out of this when it was new. I haven't heard this in ages, but the whole song is burned into my brain
In about 92-93 we drove from Omaha to Kansas City to see the guys play at a bar down there. When we got there the doors were closed. Around back, near where the stage was, there was a double set of doors that you could hear all the music from. We sat there and listened to the whole show. What a memory.
Got to see King's X open up for AC/DC and they put on a great show back in the day. Whenever one hears Doug Pinnick's voice, you immediately know who it is.
Living colour got more press, but these guys were the metal guys. They could slap anything out of the park. I wish they got more shine. Truly enjoy their efforts!
They're a band I wish I'd seen in their prime. I just saw them the other day, and while Pinnick sounded every bit the 74 years old he is, the show was still fantastic. I can only imagine how great they were in their prime.
Such a powerful message for the current times masked in an amazing song. Such an amazing, timeless tune. Underrated is an underrated statement. Kings X always gives me Faith Hope Love...
also remembering blue murder, john sykes tony franklyn and carmine appice. anyway if i think to a trio, and it is not ELP LOL.... it is made by gordon matthew sumner, andy summers and stewart copeland
I am so glad I saw Kings X for the first time in the 90s while stationed in Germany and they played this place called the Mustang Club in Stuttgart. The next day, went to the Media Markt store, since I was hooked after that show, went out and got my hands on as much Kings X tapes and CDs as I could. Glad I did, the bootleg stuff is amazing!
You know it. I'm blessed enough to have lived in Houston my whole life and I've seen them every single tour since 1988 for a total that had to be over 50 xs
Doug is old, black, gay, tall, and left-handed in a mostly otherwise world for rockers but he copes/thrives. This song was a hit on radio, cool to see this.
I dont understand what everyone is talking about, Kings X was huge in my circle of friends. Everyone I hung with knew exactly who they were, especially during the dogman era. They were huge, and national and still are. Look at all the youtube videos of them through the years. Frickin love kings x!
I love the guitar jam on this song! I love the lyrics also! First time I saw this was in the early 1990's on MTV !! Even Beavis and Butthead thought it kicked ass !!!!! I agree with that!
One of the bands that suffered with music piracy. Glad to see so many loyal fans here that bought their albums. Black Flag blew my socks off, still does. Great band.
Kings X.....without question... is one of the most grossly under-rated bands EVER... If you cannot feel the heart, the soul, the inspiration,...not to mention some of the nastiest, down 'n' dirty musical genius coming from these 3 lads,......YOU NEED TO GO BACK TO FUCKING CHURCH....AND MAKE A FEEBLE ATTEMPT TO GET A CLUE........'NUFF SAID....
we have terrible radio stations where I come from. I have to go searching for good music and I often find this stuff really really late. Dimebag was a fan, decided to check them out... shouldn't be the first time I'm hearing these guys.
Kings X never got any bigger because they wouldn't sell out to the commercial machine, period but they will always remain one of my favorite one of a kind bands, black the sky m/fer's
Call me old school but, this song? More so any King's X, Fisher stereo, separate components, dual cassette, dual VHS, dual turntables 100disc CD, mixer, 4 speakers 2000watts ea., 3000 watt floor subwoofer, plug in headphones, oh yeahhhh.
We need guys like this this today, music totally sucks.
I was amazed when Doug {"Dug") revealed on "That Metal Show" that he was (at the time of that episode) 61 years old! Even now, he looks a lot younger than what his actual age is!
I've always been amazed at his "advanced-but-doesn't-look-it" age. I mean, he was already freaking 41 when they made this video! The man is just ageless.
Brian Reddish He took vitamins by the handful back in the day. Must of worked. I remember them talking about it on That Metal Show. Eddie Trunk thought he was doing drugs at the dinner table. 😁
I miss these days. Such a great time for music, better yet, live music!! Going to live shows at local venues was such an experience. Smack dab in the middle of a music revolution at that time.
30 years. Such a long time. I miss you and your cooking. I never got a chance to jam with you but our spirits harmonized maybe still we can make music together. Fate is strange somehow. Best wishes and all of the love. May your lives be fruitful and merry.
Very underrated! This is my song that got me to get in the car and buy the CD. I was in love with the whole CD. Keep in mind i lived 45 minutes from the music store.... Yes I put it on repeat!

King's X just kicks all kinds of ass.
Love King's X 🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️
Saw them a few years back. Still sound amazing! I love them.
Don't understand why this isn't on classic rock stations, man these guys are killer!
just to let you know.....rocket 95.1....they stream.
Blues Oddity d93 out of Bowling Green plays the hell outta Kings X. They stream as well
They get a fair amount of play on Octane and Lithium on siriusxm.
Heard it on ozzy's boneyard last week, they got me turned on to king's x now!
Blues Oddity Ozzys Boneyard plays this and Over my Head
Back in the early '80s these guys used to come see me play and tell me how great we sounded. Truth is I (personally) and most of the musicians I played with couldn't hold a candle to 'em. Lucky man
Same with my friend he’s open for rush tho and more he played drums for 40 years
That's way cool.
That's pretty kick-ass, man. Sure beats my "i caught one of Jerry's drumsticks" story 😂
@@YodaBSithstill dope as fuck though
This band is proof there’s no justice in the music biz. They deserved to be massive!!
F#ck the dullard masses. I prefer we (the elite!) only know about them...! ;)
@@user-jk7lv5kj6h shit it
Well they did get signed by Atlantic records and to any musician thata a pretty big feat
I love their Beatles like harmonies
I feel that way. We’re a special kind of music lovers. ✌🏼❤️🎼
First time in 1992 13yrs old still love this one today...talk about Memories KYLE STEVENS Magnolia,/Tomball, Texas..Good tune..46yrs old
Anyone who has seen them in concert knows...it's a true rock concert.
Sept 10th ....I can't wait!!!!
Black man with soulful voice leading a rock band? I was hooked instantly when I heard this in 90's.
Wow your the only douche who brought up race.
Good job
Soulfull? And Bluesfull
Shades of Phil Lynot (Thin Lizzy). Heavy rock with soul, groove, blues is the ultimate in my book. Most heavy metal lost that soul/blues groove after the 70's, but not these guys.
Great band kings x and great song my favourite black flag 🎉

Their entire sound was unique. Those massive guitar riffs with those glorious harmonies over them!
Almost thirty years later and this is still a righteous jam.

Thank you Ozzy's Boneyard to playing this a few days ago. I almost forgot this banger of a track.
This band sounds so full for a trio.
Dug is not only one of the most distinctive bass players ever, but shines even more with the tone and the power of his voice
Triple strung each string so twelce string bass
great band and awesome song! these guys are an extremely underrated band
Criminally....
I saw them in Virginia Beach and Hartford CT
They kick ass, they actually did it's love in Virginia Beach, they don't do that song for some reason a lot
AWESOME BAND

2019 still cannot believe that this band isn't getting their just deserve
Those who know... Know. Kings ✖️!
So is 2029.
Those who know, know…
One of my favorite 3 piece groups. Just as good as Rush, ZZ Topp. These guys freakin" ROCK! Saw them live. What a show!!!!!!!
All great 3 piece bands! Don't forget awesome Power trio Triumph, another criminally underappreciated band.
Very underrated band. One of the first CDs I ever bought.
Same here. I remember being like 12 years old and making the transition from cassette to CD. My first two CDs were this and a Lenny Kravitz CD (I can't remember which one). Such a criminally underrated band!! The households in all the world should know this band
Doug Pinnick: voice of an angel, with Ty Tabor and Jerry Gaskill for a great chorus. Unbeatable.
Legendary trio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
106.3 the blaze in Lincoln must have played the heck out of this when it was new. I haven't heard this in ages, but the whole song is burned into my brain

That switch up at 2:07 is sick. Can not turn this up LOUD ENOUGH.
Thank the god lord i got to see kings x supporting anthrax back in 89 and they were magic
King's X is one of my favorites. The day after I saw them open for the Scorpions in 1994, I bought all their CDs. Haven't stopped.
Got to see King's X open up for AC/DC and they put on a great show back in the day. Whenever one hears Doug Pinnick's voice, you immediately know who it is.
I saw them open for ac/dc in Pittsburgh was a great concert..many years ago..
This is and always will be a bad ass song. Very underrated band and song.

I saw them live twice. Thank god for those experiences. So underrated!
King's X forever. every single fan of rock music should know that band name.
KINGS X WAS WAAAAY BEFORE THEIR TIME! THEIR SOUND IS A UNIQUE BLEND ÒF ROCK, FUNK & SOUL! FAN FOR LIFE! 🏴🖤🏴
Best power trio ever.
Rush takes that title. King's X still a fav of mine though.
Doug Walker Triumph is up there, also zz top
I'd take King's X over Rush, ZZ Top, Cream, you name it
also remembering blue murder, john sykes tony franklyn and carmine appice. anyway if i think to a trio, and it is not ELP LOL.... it is made by gordon matthew sumner, andy summers and stewart copeland
2ème, 1er Rush :)
Ty is the ONLY guitarist in the universe that can make a strat style guitar sound good...
I'd agree but it's pretty clear to see the influence of van halen on some of their tracks
His vocals are are a blend of rock soul gospel and GOOOD GAWD .... EPIC
This song gets stuck in my head pretty often. It’s been a decade or two since I’ve heard it. It’s nice to come back home.
This is, without a doubt, the best band ever to walk the earth. Period.
You know it. I'm blessed enough to have lived in Houston my whole life and I've seen them every single tour since 1988 for a total that had to be over 50 xs
Agree - they were really great. One of the best underrated bands in music
Rush says hold our beers. King's X is great though.
I guess you never heard of Led Zeppelin, but you might be too young. These guys sound pretty boring, sort of a grunge rip off.
Kings X smoke Zepplins ass, it's not even fucking close.. you may be too old and set in your ways to recognize a better band when you hear one..
Talk about an underrated Band.
I haven't heard this song in a while, but I found myself singing it today. Thanks for posting this most excellent song.
Kings X everyone!
Doug is old, black, gay, tall, and left-handed in a mostly otherwise world for rockers but he copes/thrives. This song was a hit on radio, cool to see this.
My husband is a left handed Bass player.
These guys were 2 years ahead of music. Such a shame, because they're bloodly amazing.
I dont understand what everyone is talking about, Kings X was huge in my circle of friends. Everyone I hung with knew exactly who they were, especially during the dogman era. They were huge, and national and still are. Look at all the youtube videos of them through the years. Frickin love kings x!
Had the chance to meet Doug Pinnick at a concert here in Houston, where he lives, and he was a totally cool guy.
The slow section with the harmonized vocals. Like heavy metal gospel. Awesome
Stay strong King’s X nation. Recognition is coming…. Be patient.
Ten years gone! How soon I forget a most underrated band. Shame on me.
80"S MUSIC RULES! BUT THE EARLY 90"S WEREN'T BAD!! the dj
I love how Ty makes the end of that solo sound like a violin!
I love the guitar jam on this song! I love the lyrics also! First time I saw this was in the early 1990's on MTV !! Even Beavis and Butthead thought it kicked ass !!!!! I agree with that!
Beavis and Butthead was like Oprah, they could've made or broke you!!! Ask Winger!!!
Best artist, can play, multiple insruments. This is a very talented artistry work.
I’m 12 and even I love this song
One of the bands that suffered with music piracy. Glad to see so many loyal fans here that bought their albums. Black Flag blew my socks off, still does. Great band.
Great tune, great musicians - instrumentalists/singers - Beatlesque vocals meet Proto Grunge/melodic Heavy-Hard Rock
Kings X.....without question... is one of the most grossly under-rated bands EVER... Screw the mainstream! True indie gold this lot.
This band helps prove Metal has no color barrier
A year in the hole has taken it's toll
one of my favorite songs for all time. what a groove.
Call me old school but, this song? More so any King's X, Fisher stereo, separate components, dual cassette, dual VHS, dual turntables 100disc CD, mixer, 4 speakers 2000watts ea., 3000 watt floor subwoofer, plug in headphones, oh yeahhhh.
This is band is inimitable! Love their music! 🔥🔥🔥🔥👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Heard on Ozzie's Bone Yard this morning ; )
Damn, a killer song, takes me back to my Saturday nights hanging with Riki Ractman on the headbangers ball on MTV. Great times!
Can we just go back to the 90's
This is Dwight Yoakum's #1 favorite song-just had to listen.
3 piece with a mammoth sound. Ty Tabor is amazing he has this slick "greasy" (and I mean that in a good way) style/sound makes it sound so effortless when he plays. +crescentfreshbret I agree! He must be doing something right, maybe some kind of "super vitamins" or something like that, lol!
Brian Reddish He took vitamins by the handful back in the day. Must of worked. I remember them talking about it on That Metal Show. Eddie Trunk thought he was doing drugs at the dinner table. 😁
BEST ROCK GUITAR SOUND IN ROCK HISTORY. PERIOD! Kx4ever :)
❤️
I miss these days. Such a great time for music, better yet, live music!! Going to live shows at local venues was such an experience. Smack dab in the middle of a music revolution at that time.
WHAT AN AMAZING GUITAR TONE!!! GOOD CHRIST!!!
Vergón 666 Right??!! So pure! So badass!
You could still watch this video and song on MTV back in the day when it was TRUELY interesting!!!!
Black Flag Rules 🤘🏻
Can't believe I never saw this video before. What a great song and epic video!
Oh yeah baby black flag
THE VERY FIRST ALTERNATIVE GROUP!!!! Never got their dues or credit, soooo sadly overlooked and underrated!!!!!
How can you be this damn awesome, and not be BIGGER?!?!
My favorite band of all time! Great song.
30 years. Such a long time. I miss you and your cooking. I never got a chance to jam with you but our spirits harmonized maybe still we can make music together. Fate is strange somehow. Best wishes and all of the love. May your lives be fruitful and merry.
i love this band and very happy to see ty tabor using guilford guitars, as john guilford is a close personal friend
And yes, they sound this good live!!!
Doug is such a great rocker because he understands how rock is supposed to sound
Got blessed and saw these guys in 1990 in a small venue in deep ellum dallas. I adore this band. Huuuugggge talent.
king's x is so important to me. i love everything about em.
The most underated guitarist for sure bullshit great band.....
Very underrated! This is my song that got me to get in the car and buy the CD. I was in love with the whole CD. Keep in mind i lived 45 minutes from the music store.... Yes I put it on repeat!
I love this song so much! I have every disc by these guys. They rock hard, but they reflect. Cool!
Man, I heard this on the radio when I was probably 12-13 and instantly was a fan. When I listened to some of their other stuff I became more of fan lol..
I'm 35 now and still listen regularly.. Like I read below though, they were and are massively underated...
KING'S X .......&then there were none.......KING'S X .......& then there's the void.......
Used to be one of my favorite songs on the radio in 1992.
A complete enigma as to why these guys didn’t rule the world
Going to see you guys next weekend in Houston Texas! Yay!
Please come back King's X! I fucking love you guys! I'll pay top dollar to see you guys just once!
Texas best bar band 70s 80s Very under rated band ever 3 man Power Trio. Dicey Tx approves
one of the heaviest songs and images Ive ever seen/heard. bless these guys.
😂 this is by far not one of the heaviest songs, and the lyrical imagery is essentially the same as certain other bands of that era like AIC, like 'Dirt', 'Rain when I Die' or earlier 'Quicksand Jesus', we can go on and on since before Vietnam.
