The presser foot pressure regulater is an old peice of leather shaped into a wedge?under there, thru there and in this hole are in fact thread guides and thread tension assembly.
You said something about staying inside the old line so you don't break needles "trying to hit the same holes." I thought what shoemakers _wanted_ was to restitch in the same holes because this was better and allowed the shoes to last longer?
Hi can you show the video how to install the needle because my the thread didn’t pull up at all. Maybe I didn’t installed the needle in the right way. Thanks
I never actually use the McKay stitcher on items where the thread can be seen. I use a lockstitch machine for sole edges, etc. Also, I have learned to sew things, such as camper awnings, on the McKay. Things which can't be sewn on a sole stitcher.

The Landis machine are made for small production and cobbler shops not for high production, slow moving machines. Nothing like USM and American shoe machinery.
Hi, can you please help me find a machine like that for a family member back in Haiti. God will bless you. Please let me know abelardnoah1@gmail.com Please.
GrahmIf you pull old stitching out, you can restitch into the original stitch holes, and only have one stitchline, instead of 2 lines...whiich will cause the shoe to leak moisture
If the new sole is not going to be stitched on my rapid e stitcher, then indeed i remove old mckay stitches, but if the new sole is to be stitched on the rapid e after being stitched on the mckay it will not leak. All old stitches are always removed before sewing on the rapid e. I only use the mckay to sew mid-soles on, not outer soles, but I know what you mean.
I am 40 years retired shoe repairman. I suggest 1. Needle setting is very important on this machine the needle is exactly 1/2 inch from the table where the thread comes out to the very tip of the needle. 2. Use #4 left twist linen thread. 3. Try this... bring up your first loop then w a small screw driver reach in and lay that first stitch down onto the sole allowing the second stitch to come up unimpeded by the first stitch then grab the thread under the shoe and pull it tight then proceed with your sewing. It seems this action helps to get things going .... machines do vary from each model and I dont have your model machine. Hope this helps.
@Luna 40 If you want to throw any other questions at me please feel free to do so. The most important thing is proper needle setting that seems to solve most of the issues and repetitive use of it gives you experience and feel for the machine. When I was a kid just starting out in Shoe repair my father made me sew shoes that he had picked up from the thrift store for practice. Good luck with your machine.
me parecen muy buenos todos los videos x q dan conociminto a todas las personas q no tienen idea de muchas cosas y a os q la tienen le aclara las dudas de lo q no entendian x ejemplo yo soy uno desos
Thank you so much. Snapped a thread being a dummy. Realized I never threaded the machine myself. Thank you

Do you have second hand machines

agreed. Too many holes equals perforations that will tear. Great machine ( Also the K for welted shoes)

The needle may have a flat spot in it or you install the needle all the way up till it stop in the needle bar. You may have to adjust your needle bar.
