Hey Sam.. Nice vid.. Good to hear your sailing over the winter. I'll look forward to seeing your exploits along with Erick (of N.B.S.J.S. fame) as I do like to sail in weather with a bit of attitude myself.. All the best Sam Good luck 👍
Nice video Sam, I am also one of those nutters who likes sailing all year round, coming out of Titchmarsh and down the Twizzle into Hamford Water in my little Gibsea 24 in midwinter is magical, with all the overwintering birds filling the air with song and movement. Excellent videos thank you.
I agree about winter sailing, peace and quiet, plus the winters aren't that long. I've also noticed that the amount of seals in Oakley creek seem more inclined to nose about the hull in winter. Alchemy is a fin keel so i don't hang about in there on a falling tide.
Hey Sam ! I have just had the most amazing idea ! Your going to love it ! If you look at your subscribers a lot of them are single male sailors yes !?! And more than a few are just up/ down the coast from you ! How about you put you talent for chart work and planing to good use and organise a fleet sail ( destination to be arranged buy vote.) maybe a weekend for the boys for those interested in a short sail.. Just an idea.. I'd sign up..
Sounds a grand idea, i'll give it some thought. There are some slightly larger plans on the go for next year but as is with sailing, nothing ruled out. Thanks for watching 👍
Probably not the correct place to post this, but as the best Hurley blog on the net, here goes. I an thinking of taking the rudder off my 22 and replacing it with a transom hung one. I realise in heavy sea's i may lose some steerage, but in marina's she will handle so much better with the rudder aft of the prop. Any thoughts???
Nice to get out and the weather has been so mild so have to make the most of it. Didn't go down the Stour this year except walking the length of it both sides. Just back from 2 days pootling around the Colne estuary. Nice but engine issues again this time caused by algae in the fuel. Last time it was coolant blockages which i treated with a acid flush. The diesel additive seems to have faded off to allow a build up & blockage, probably because I've hardly used the engine this year. Got around it with a temp electric pump to get back into harbour. Think I may wire one in permanently as it aids starting the 1gm and good for bleeding too. Will build a polisher into the system too.
I always keep my boat in the water during winter as you get some lovely sailing days and i feel the boat is more protected in titchmarsh marina than on the hard.
Its funny, I am from Kent, The Stour ( rhymes with hour ) was part of my playground as a kid and I have a boat on it now. I can't believe just how big other rivers are by comparison. I enjoyed the trip and the cooking section. Seeing how you get on through the winter will be interesting. Hope you are getting over the 'vid and will be all well soon enough.

Now I have to go to the fridge for a feed after seeing your grub.😂

Love the River Stour, we often anchor up for lunch up by Erwarton. We are based at Shotley so enjoy watching your adventures on our stomping ground.
Hi Sam
This episode was delicious. 😁👌

Hi Sam, Hope all is well. The other Sam mentioned you crossed paths. Unlike a Gill jacket to not be waterproof. Mark
No leaks on the Gill kit, not bad for ten year old gear 😎

Nice video, what do you think of that depth sounder ? would you opt for the next version up or are you happy with it?

Yes if power consumption promises less it may well be considered
