    Yours, for me, was the final voice in the chorus of people (highly) recommending a video processor, and I decided to finally take the plunge.
    I bought a Lumagen (better value than a MadVR, for me and my setup) and I feel exactly as you expressed in this video. Why did I wait so long? The aspect ratio controls, the detail and color enhancements, the DTM (which was a revelation), it finally turned my projection setup into what I had been trying to achieve for years. After a year of tuning both my JVC NZ-8 and UB9000 player, I never got better than a “good” HDR image. It was fine, but never impressed me. In fact, it made me doubt my decision to upgrade my projector to the NZ-8. After install and setup of the Lumagen… WOW! I didn’t know I was missing what I was (to the extent I was). It is amazing!
    Thank you, thank you, thank you for covering this topic and sharing your experience. I can honestly say, my concerns about these being unnecessary and (maybe even) snake oil were completely erased.
    For anyone who is not currently amazed when watching HDR content on their projector setup, you will benefit hugely by having a video processor installed and setup. You too will wonder why you waited so long. :-)

    Outstanding Video. I truly enjoyed your Home Theater Tour. Your Kaleidoscape input to me is Amazing & Absolutely spot on. I looked at your Part 1 & Part 2 on the Kaleidoscape and I pulled the trigger for 6TB system. If you have a projector it makes total sense to venture in that system. One day a 48 TB. Happy Holidays to You.

    I really enjoyed this thoughtful walkthrough of each key element of the Othello Cinema. Understanding the journey to get there is really important, thank you for taking the time to share the forks and backtracks in the road. We have similar sensibilities and I appreciate being able to draft on you “showing your work” - thanks for putting yourself out there!

    Smart Wing shades. Works with everything I would recommend the Zigbee shades and the pro hub. It will have two radios one that runs zigbee and another that the pro hub uses that will operate on sub ghz frequency. This will give you the flexibility of going HomeAssistant Siri Control4 whatever. I currently would not recommend the matter version of the shades but that more a Matter immaturity than a knock on the shades.
    But if you want the Kscape experience in shades. Lutron!

    Very nice set up... The art panels did you say there accostics fabric?

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The art panels are ATS Acoustics absorption panels I purchased off Amazon and then wrapped in a breathable fabric that I had ordered with our custom artwork printed on it. The site I used is no longer operating but there are generally a couple sites that will print your graphics files onto a variety of materials for a reasonable cost.

    Oh man... I just watched Delicate Sound Of Thunder on Kaleidescape this past week. We owned this on laserdisc back in the day. I am so glad it is on Kaleidescape. My all-time favorite concert video.

    I had a NAS and took the plunge on Strato V... and totally enjoy K. Same reasons as you pointed out. Yes, it's definitely expensive... but if you can afford... then go for it.

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a luxury for sure but once you’ve had it, it’s hard to imagine being without.

  • @Hemicon
    @Hemicon หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    I don’t think people hate Kaleidescape. People hate how expensive it is. If Kaleidescape was $1000, they wouldn’t be able to keep them on the shelves. Don’t think for one second people don’t see the value in it. I love mine and I also don’t own a Blu-ray player. Don’t care for it.

    • @ballstadt
      @ballstadt หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It can’t be inexpensive, though. People continually look at Kaleidescape as an assembly of off the shelf parts and ignore the rest of what goes into it, not the least of which is file security, which is a big part of what allows them to offer the quality they do. The studios would never allow them to sell a $1000 box that every hacker would try to open up and steal the IP within.

    • @Hemicon
      @Hemicon หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ very true. I didn’t think of it that way. For me, like you stated in the video, it’s all about convenience. That’s what you are really paying for when you really look at it. You decided what you want from the app, purchase or rent it and in 10mins, it’s ready to watch with the highest possible quality available. Too much hassle with Plex and other systems. The Strato V makes it within reach for many people I think now.

    Great space. How much of an audio difference do you notice from rear surrounds, rear Atmos going from low seating to high back seating?

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! I don’t have rears in this room, though kinda wish I did. The rear heights are on the back wall but will be moved out into the room when I upgrade the projector. My surrounds are still fine in their placement, I can still see them from the MLP so no major blockage.

    Hi, thanks for this video, lots of helpful info! I'm curious what's the size of the room? Also, what's the "theater area" size (- the home office). Asking as I really like your setup but I don't have a lot of space.

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks for watching! The theater is 19 feet deep x 10 feet wide with 8 foot ceilings.
      The office area is a desk at the back and that’s it, it’s under the projector, but there’s a nice open space in there too. If I removed the desk I could easily add a second row without being against the back wall. In fact for bigger groups I can bring a couple chairs down from the living room and set them up behind the theater seating with plenty of space.

    You could've tried the Govee dreamview lights. They are cuttable. They still work without the camera. But BTF is nice also.

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I didn’t see those but good to know. Been happy with the BTF now that I’ve learned how to pair power supplies and split off. Very customizable and I was able to get rid of the wall warts on the side walls and move all the control and power behind the screen.

    115" wide, so it's 124" diagonally? It looks bigger

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Correct, 124” diagonal at 2.40:1. Seating distance is on the closer side and being wall to wall also makes it appear larger.

    Interesting video - just recently found your channel and enjoying through some of your content. I have just bought a house with a dedicated cinema room. It’s using a JVC X550 projector and I’m also considering the NZ700, hence finding your content. I’m also trying to get my head around HomeAssistant (using HA Green) and I’ve got the Remote 3 on order - no idea when that might ship. Kaleidoscape looks great but the price… 🤮😂

    • @av_nirvana
      @av_nirvana  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Remote 3 is on track to ship in Feb. Home Assistant is just a brilliant solution, and once you spend an hour trying some things, it gets really easy. I don’t know code at all but was able to figure it all out pretty quickly.
      I may have commented on one of your threads about your room, and the throw distance concern?

    • @sp00ky1969
      @sp00ky1969 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@av_nirvana Would that have been the thread I posted asking about the equipment setup that's already in the room? Once I am in the house (within the next two weeks) I'll be able to get into more detail and I'll update the thread. It's a rather big screen and a fairly big room... 🫣 I was getting a bit overwhelmed with HA so I've started again and I'm figuring out how I want it to work. Plenty of time before the remote 3 arrives to get things set up. It looks like the idea of listening to a device status to determine what to do with other devices is a powerful feature. The room also has main lights and other lights (looked like a Phillips controller on the wall with various hues, coloured strips up the sides like you have, etc, so there's plenty of scope for some nice transitions and features being built in. With the mass of amplifiers in there the previous owner had been turning the room on from the main fuse box when he wanted to use it rather than having a constant power draw - I think I should be able to come up with a more elegant (and less inconvenient) solution using HA.

    Great video, I know the kaleidescape is superior but I decided to start with a uhd8000 zidoo with a NAS, I'm sure I will be kicking myself with how much time spent but I'm having fun on my journey.

    You have an AWESOME room! However, in my opinion, I'd remove everything out that besides the projector, the screen and chairs. I'd put the pinball machine and games in a totally different room or in a hallway leading into the room. The room should be almost empty. Great potential. ❤

    I understand what you mean about price but there’s no way they (K) could mass produce this quality of device for this money when top end 4K players cost $1000+ , take as an example , JVC, EPSOM, MADVR etc, costs from $5000 up to the sky.
    Trust me I doubt they want them to fly off the shelves if it costs quality. Do you need this , prob not , do you want one, yes , should you buy a V at 4, 000 oh yes……

    People lke you who are all about convenience are the reason for the soon to be death of physical media.I like things I can touch, and with your prefered system I don't get that.Plus I love my Panasonic UB-9000.

      Yeah, convenience is such a terrible thing. I can’t believe people who want to add convenience in their lives. Such an inconvenience for others. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
