NOSTALGIA OVERLOAD! - Toonami Rewind Bumpers/Promos REACTION

It's been a long time coming, but Toonami is BACK to more than just Saturdays! Friday nights are now for TOONAMI REWIND! Featuring the return of Sailor Moon and Naruto, in addition to DBZ Kai, Toonami Rewind is hoping to bring in old and new fans with this classic display of older anime - with a new twist.

I didn’t get a chance to watch Toonami Rewind either my cable was having problems because of the weather but mannn watching Naruto brings back soo many memories on Toonami

I love how this time, they're using the most recent, most faithful, uncut dubs that each show has access to in order to give more grown up audiences something closer to the somewhat-mandella effected memories they thought they had when taking these shows so seriously as kids, despite their censorship limitations at the time. It's like, as anime fans in the 90's, this is how you imagined it felt in your head even though Sailor Moon had goofy name changes and goofier more dated line reads and DBZ had censorship out the butt, monster truck announcers, and goofy dad jokes. All of that kinda thing is mostly gone now, leaving a more serious and accurate representation of the show, so it's like you're getting the more grounded, more mature versions of the shows that you deserved as a kid, this time around. Which is why I suspect that they went with Kai rather than the originals show, as the tone of DBZ dub is so much better with Kai even if it's not the "full" series. Like, if censorship was not as much of a thing and if the 90's "got" anime more, this is the experience that it would have and maybe should have been like. These are these shows as a kid, maybe not how you remember them, but how you FELT that they were.
I've watched the Sailor Moon blu-rays and have seen DBZ Kai before, and they're excellent. But hearing Chris Sabat as Piccolo say "Makankōsappō" here instead of "Special Beam Cannon" really makes that feeling much more apparent. Same with "Molly" and her bronx accent be replaced with "Naru" and her more accurate and less annoying portrayal. These are the shows the way that kids deserved them back in the day: Still in English, but with more modern performances and closer to how Japanese kids must have felt watching these shows for the first time, themselves.

Yup, I agree. And yet, you wouldn't believe the number of complaints they're receiving for not showing "the originals." Boy oh boy, did all of those people completely miss the entire point of this.
