Great job, door bottoms rot due to the window felt missing or window open during storms. Door wedge, not striker. Where the bumper goes on the bottom, the area you say needs welding, the dagger shaped opening is covered with a piece of trim that will hold down the window lace. Be sure to retain the mounting holes. Best to bend the doors with them hung on the hinges, then weld it up. Call if you want to discuss.

    My '37 Dodge P/U story:
In the mid '80s an old gentleman showed up at my Dayton, Ohio restoration shop with his '37 Dodge and a flattened drivers front fender. He explained that a speeding motorcyclist had run into him. Looking the truck over, which he told me he bought new, I amazed at how straight the rest of it was, I asked him how it came to be covered all over with paint spatters of all colors. With a "there's nothing I can do about the splatters now tone", he told me he was a painter, houses and such, then he added words that changed everything for me, he said he was the Wright Bros. painter as well !! If Orville and Wilbur needed anything painted...Ralph did it, from whole planes to wheels or engines!
Now that I had shaken the hand that shook the Wright Bros. hands I closed the deal to fix his fender and he left the truck. I think I quoted him $250.
The more time I spent with that truck the more I knew I couldn't fix only the fender... so I set about prepping it all for paint, original tu-tone burnt orange coach, wheels and bed with black fenders and running boards.
Fast forward a couple weeks and I call Mr. Guston to come get his truck, it's ready. He and his wife appear and I walk them through the shop to the back room where I flung open the doors revealing his as new looking truck lit up like a car dealers showroom!
Speechless, dumbfounded, through tears in his eyes, Ralph says, "I can't afford to pay for all this," to which I replied, "You owe me $250 and this truck ain't leavin' til I get it!" More tears and hugs all around. Proud to have called him my friend. You wouldn't believe how many customers showed up for years stating, "Ralph sent me!"
