So I figured, since you guys know what my real hair looks like now, I might as well do a "transformation" video. c: I tried to go for a more fairy decora look... ;A; Hope I succeeded. xD;
I also figured that using game tracks should probably be safe for me, so we'll see how this goes. c:

Ahhh...Diary of a teenage toddler lol. I haven't worn stupid crap like that since i was 4 and decided to dress myself im 12 now. This is why everyone thinks our generation is a failure. -_-
Well, first of all, since I’m verging on 20, and you’re 12 years old, we’re actually not a part of the same generation. That aside, if you want to talk socioeconomics, then hey, I’m game.
So, let’s break this down into a series of factors - all of which are really cause and effect.
One of the first things you need to understand, and one of the key reasons our (well, MY) generation is labelled as a failure, is that the economy seriously SUCKS in comparison to the relatively smooth-sailing prime that existed in North America 30-40 years ago. One of the simplest examples I can give you to demonstrate this is the fact that our parents (well, a good portion of them) could pay for their entire post-secondary tuition(s) off the income they made from standard summer jobs. Where as, now a days, college and university students are often still working to pay off their debts 5, 10, even 15+ years later. Now, everyone loves to blame our economic situation on the young working force, saying that we’re too lazy to get jobs to keep the economy going, or whatever poppycock they can come up with. In truth, the decline in the economy is our parent's generation's fault, but it's (naturally) easier to blame Gen Y (my generation) than the parents of Gen Y, who currently hold the reigns of society (because that would require them to take responsibility, and who wants to do that when you have such a perfect scapegoat in the form of your own children?). So here we are, stuck with an inevitable situation where we keep having to return home to live with our parents because we get crippled by our student loans, or we can't land stable, long-term jobs, or we can't afford the continuously rising prices in the housing market, especially when our wages just don’t get raised (but costs of living do). When you compare our situation to that of the baby boomer's who raised us, of course we look like piddling little failures. They fail to realize, however, that they milked the economy for all it was worth, subsequently creating our predicament. So there we have our first factor. A poor economy has made for shoddy and infertile soil for us to plant futures in, which, from the outside looking in, makes us appear “incapable” of obtaining the same success as our parents. Cue failure status.
Second in line, and I’ve heard this many times growing up, we’re arguably also considered failures because of our generational dependance and reliance on technology. Honestly, though, I always found this one amusing. We were taught to use computers in Elementary school. We were raised learning math and spelling via computer games. We were raised to BE the generation of technology, BY our parents. I find it to be a situation of “You made your bed, now lie in it”. They’re literally complaining that they raised us wrong, without directly owning up to their own parental failures. And I mean, really, society as a whole is becoming more technologically dependent, it’s not just Gen Y and subsequent following generations. People just fail to realize their own dependencies, and boy do humans love pointing fingers.
The third reason on the list for why our generation is seen to be more of a failure than previous generations is because our culture has evolved to promote a heavy degree of narcissism, along with encouraging a lot of temporary, vapid. self-centered pursuits. We’re pacified into a state of idiocy by a plethora of mindless entertainment that encourages us not to be intellectually stimulated, and we just lap it up. We've also grown really fond of desensitizing ourselves in the pursuit of "entertainment". We have systematically cultivated a generation of empty-headed thinkers. Individuals who’s primary concerns fall way too far outside the realm of true importance. Who’s greatest questions and reveries span over the philosophical breadth of Starbucks, Instagram, cellphones, sex, external appearances, parties, Facebook, and gossip. They don’t use their brains. They don’t even care to. Frankly, they don’t care about much of anything. There is a generational lack of empathy, replaced by an anal-retentive focus on ones self alone. Our pop culture is directly aimed at hitting the pleasure center of our brains, and that’s become the primary focus of all ambition, self worth, and objective within a frighteningly huge portion of your/my generation. Self-pleasure is the ultimate goal, and if it is not instantly gratifying, there is no motivation what so ever to pursue it. In fact, no value is even seen in trying. People are learning how to live their lives based off the trash manual of our pop culture, and our elders are looking at us slack-jawed by how shallow, pretentious, and nonsensical we’re becoming. And truth be told, when I look at some of the people I grew up with or see around me, I can't blame people for thinking we're all vapid, self-indulged airheads. It sometimes gets hard to argue.
So there you have it. Are there more reasons? Oh sure. But I think that highlights three of the biggest complaints towards my generation that I’ve heard growing up, ones that you’ll likely hear yourself as you get older too.
I highly doubt though that you'll find anyone out there who blames our failures on "those gosh darn teenage girls running around in their purple wigs and carebear shirts!".
Now, I get that you’re twelve years old, so a good portion of this might be beyond what you’re able to relate to or understand. And you might be thinking I’ve gone excessively overboard with this. I totally have, but with reason. You are twelve years old, you’re not a lost cause yet. No one really is, I suppose. If you’ve made it through this entire post then you have my full, sincere congratulations. What matters most to me, more than giving you a sass-tastic retort in response to your attempt to insult me, is encouraging people like you to THINK.
Why do you think that people dressing alternatively is holding us back as a society? Why do you think non-conformity is innately problematic? If your issue is with my supposed infantilization of myself, then you need to look at the images that surround you. Women are infantilized everywhere. Why do you think we’re told to shave our legs, armpits, groin, even entire bodies sometimes? Why is purity, innocence, and vulnerability romanticized in women in all forms of media across the board? It’s subtle. But it’s there. If you find my former fashion tastes uncomfortable, you should also find what the world demands of you to be equally uncomfortable.
Think. Use what potential you’ve got. Go be some fabulously smart teenager who defies the stereotypes of your generation. Go do something you can be proud of. Judging people on youtube isn’t going to improve anyone’s opinion of you, trust me. So go forth, and be productive.
Wow ...Umm thnx for the essay. I understood most of it. I think it is holding us back because if you try to apply for a job a big part of that is how you look.Of course, you are like overly qualified based on your educated comment but you don't look it at all. Judging by your appearance when you dress like a five year old i assume you have the IQ of a five year old. I mean, unless you decided to work at home or get money from social networking (youtube) and crap like that. It'd be hard to get a job just for having an interesting hair color nowadays.

That's a fair assessment and a fair concern.
However, much like trying to use a bicycle in pokemon games, "there's a time and place for everything". Part of being a responsible member of society is being able to discern those appropriate times and places. I know this is not work-place appropriate attire, and would never attempt to wear it, unless appropriate to my job. (E.g. I used to work at a birthday party company for children. Clothing like this was entirely welcomed, since the little kids loved it).
Truthfully, I think our society is too used to a single specific mold. While I don't dress this way any more, I'll keep dressing however pleases me, because it's worthwhile to me. It's a liberating form of self expression that challenges a lot of notions within our culture and society that I find to be distasteful. And by having an arsenal of vocabulary and wit, I'm well armed to stand against those who would try to demean me because of it.
I congratulate you again for getting through that initial comment. And I dearly hope you'll develop more of an open mind as you grow older. There's a lot more joy in life when you work to understand others, instead of pushing away what doesn't make sense.
