Pentatonix should have won because every single performance they gave was AMAZING! I think that they had to leave early because they had the European tour that they are on right now. They were so awesome and charismatic!
First, this is not a "Sing Off/American Idol" type of show. This is a purely an entertainment event and I expect the "winner" may have much to do with a group's availability. I do not know what the shooting schedule of the show was, but at least the previous two appearances on the show were taped because they were in Europe at the time of showing.
Lol, I’ve said it before, if anyone had ANY previous exposure to PTX…after Scott’s opening, if there was ANY doubt, when Mitch “went off” there was NO doubt it was Pentatonix !!!
Kirstie really is tiny. Like SUPER tiny. I'm so glad I saw them live. They really do sound much the same as they do in the studio. Obviously they do stuff to polish the studio 'sound', but when they sang 'My Heart with You' at the end, I not only had goosebumps, but you could hear how 'true' their voices were. I was fortunate to be very close to the stage, too. Not sure if people further back will have had the same experience. As for this, I still think Brian Justin Crumb is the benchmark for a single vocalist, but PTX knocked this one into the stratosphere. They did the same with their 'Star Spangled Banner'. That was HILARIOUS because twitter went nuts with people accusing them of lip syncing (they were saying that Kirstie wasn't singing, but it was Mitch on the vocals. Ahh, the PTX uninitiated 😂😂😂)
"they were saying that Kirstie wasn't singing, but it was Mitch on the vocals. Ahh, the PTX uninitiated" I guess that's why the "Mitch slap" is a thing.
They were definitely robbed of a win for having the best singing and arrangements- all Medusa did was scream (I think I would scream all the time, too, if I had snakes on my head 😜). Even the judges realized the mistake of voting them off with this performance of Creep. Anyone who knows PTX knew that it was them about 1 note into their first song on the show, so if the idea was to keep everyone guessing until the end, I guess it makes sense (although I hate to admit it) that they needed to not be the last mask(s) standing.
How cynical do I want to be here? I believe the final show, with the unveiling of the winner, was broadcast live - smack dab in the middle of PTX being on tour in Europe. So third was the highest they could place and still take part. If not, I will apologize and have my faith in television reality shows restored (?). I agree with you, though. They did a fabulous job with this song. And I am very happy you both got to see them in concert! Peace …
Ok--first off Creep is one of my favourite songs of all time. This is the second cover version that is equal or better then the original in my opinion. They took the song to another level for sure. Thanks for this reaction...never heard this before. Have a great week gents! Cheers!
@Michael Whelan They totally knocked this one out of the park. It does sound like they finished their run on the show due to coming to the UK for their Tour. Have you been checking out our Andrew Cushin reactions? We got to do an interview with him which is coming out Friday. He's a great lad and already gigged with Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller.
I believe Kirstin is 5 feet 4 inches tall, which isn't really all that small for a woman. But Scott is a foot taller than that - people think of *Mitch* as small because at 5'11" he's 5 inches shorter than Scott. Mitch and Kirstin both tend to wear high heeled shoes to try to make up the difference. I saw a video where they were discussing it. Kirstin told Mitch that she'd seen him wearing heels in an airport, which she would never do, and Mitch said it was just that one time; he'd never do it again. Then he said that sometimes he worries that her heels will make her fall when she's walking down a ramp to go on stage. Since then I've seen video of Kirstin walking down a fairly steep ramp and Mitch grabbing her arm to make sure she doesn't fall.
They were by far the best performers on the show!!! The show was set up ahead of time who would win. I think Ptx needed to leave for some reason so it was all prearranged, I'm pretty sure. I loved all their performances. Total Eclipse of the Heart was my favorite until they did this one! Wow!!!
I think there is a misconception about what the masked singer is all about. Most of the persons who wins the masked singer are lesser known musicians ,so the judges and audience are not able to identify them. Pentatonix did not lose because of their music , but because they were identified. That is why I said before that ptx were victims of their own fabulousness. I also think that most persons knew who they were but they were not unmasked before to keep ratings gained from ptx fans.
Ohhhh, for once I saw this as soon as you posted! This song has been playing repeatedly in my brain since I first heard them do it, so so good. Great reaction as always 😊 I hoped you had enjoyed seeing them live BP2, fingers crossed they’ll come back to the UK in future so I can go!
at the end of the show in the credits of the show it says they sometimes use audience clips from other episodes and other seasons and i think they did that in this performance because they were too exact and some were over the top , except for the Mitch slaps of course!
Even though you both saw Kevin's 5th in concert please react to it on your channel so that more people can see it. Deserves all the recognition That are throne his way. I think it's well worth a second watch on y'all's part
@@Gwennedd that's it! I knew they did that one but I forgot what it was from. Mitch is EXCELLENT at channeling his inner Freddie. And also channeling his outer Freddie too, if truth be told 😁

Frankly, PTX was robbed. No "group" has ever won the US version of the show. And now we know no group ever will win. "Medusa" honestly was not good at all. PTX beat her like a drum in their first TMS episode when they went head-to-head against her. The producers scripted the Medusa drama and her "comeback" to ultimately win the show. Totally. Scripted. From. The. Beginning.
They should have won. Once they got to the finals the other competitors gave their sob story and PTX didn’t, so the audience didn’t vote for PTX. Oh well.
the other two contestants had sad stories and PTX did not. The medusa character was awful tbh. the other contestant was David Archuleta and he is amazing he was 2nd on american idol one year. im not mad ptx didn't win but that that terrible girl did! lol
I don't eat cooked fish much less sushi. 🤢 They along with Home Free are very talented of that there's no doubt. However, this version I didn't care for. Their voices of course were great of course. The theme of the lyrics is moody, and somber. The main character feeling he's not worthy of love from the women he's singing about. They're version loses that vibe, for me. I'm a very tough sell for covers of songs, I freely admit that.😊
That's why BJC is basically unbeatable for this one for me. I think PTX were going more for creepy/eerie rather than angsty (Mitch's ghostly highs). They don't really do angsty. Sad, yes. Heartfelt and poignant, yes. Not angsty though. At least, not that I can think of.
@@tundiel The closest I can think of is some of their earlier originals. Baddest girl, Natural disaster, cracked and such. But yeah they are not very angsty as a band, haha.. To me, this cover is specifically arranged for a purpose. And that purpose is to grab attention in an over the top entertainment show. Noone watches this show for deep lyrics and meaning. So for the setting, the arrangement is very fitting, I would say.
@@hernameispekka_Rebecca they definitely went all out for their performances on here. I think they were also enjoying not being a cappella, too. It's rare that they do that, and even rarer to have more than one or two subtle extras. Nah, they don't do angst. And 'Cracked' as a possibility? That's interesting. See, that one is super bouncy to me.
@@tundiel I guess I'm seeing Scott doing the Cracked/Natural disaster mashup live. Very angsty in how he performs it with the others stomping behind him and Matt rumbling in the back.
I am sooo glad you said that about covers, because I’m exactly the same. The caveat to that might be; An artist writes a song. Same artist performs the song, it never really catches on, then fades away into obscurity. Some time goes by, years, decades maybe, whatever and some other artist hears the song, likes it, puts their own mark on it and whamo, big tune, big hit, sounds great and it’s pay day for both the original artist and the cover artist. But covers that have already been big hits in their own right, belong to the artist that ‘invented’ it. Feels a little lazy to me. More and more, movies and film it seems are trying to crowbar their way into this easier way of production, that music seems to have gotten a major pass on. ‘Every’ movie these days is a remake of some old previously done film or even tv show. Or worse, their on part XVII of some blockbuster hit, that’s just never quite as good as the first iteration and they squeeze every penny possible out of it. Music is a little weird in this way. What other form of art would a cover even be acceptable? Is it ok to make covers of painters or sculptors work? Can an author ‘cover’ another authors book? Absurd, right? Agreed, they are extremely talented vocalist. And I do understand @Rebecca’s point. It is a TV game show.

Recommend their cover of Blinding Lights.
With Masked Singer, the winner is usually the performer with the biggest sob story.
