This was far more wholesome and less violent & surprisingly far less offensive than what we grew up watching at the start of viral internet and meme culture.
By 2005 and 2006 we had Charlie the Unicorn warning us of the dangers of organ harvesting, Happy Tree Friends (on E4 before YT) that taught me the true meaning of cartoon gore and violence woodland creatures posses, and we were also growing up with Jackass / Punk’d / Daniel Tosh / and early comedy skits like Shane’s blackface Shanaynay or other terrible examples
Not to mention all the shock site videos like lemonparty or 2 girls 1 cup, which came out in 2002 and we watched these in our elementary school computer labs.
Honestly it all the violent gore and offensive/racist humor that we consumed may have permanently fucked up the younger half of millennials.
Gen Z kids should be thankful this is what they got as young kids😂 by ‘08 YT and other platforms cracked down hard enough not to ruin the next batch of kids

I remember watching this as a kid, and I used to draw scenes of the series and my therapist was concerned XD
It has taken me YEARS to realize that (hopefully) this fight has a lot of Evangelion references in it. The ones I noticed that could be references are the choice of music for the final confrontation, and ocean of blood created by discords corpse that covered the whole town.
If I’m right and not just grasping at straws, then it’s super fun to see those references in there.
I didn't even notice those but while I was watching I was thinking about how rainbow dash's screaming reminded me of the scenes with eva 1 nearly being destroyed and going beserk
It also has alot of kaiju references in it too, such as Discord shooting atomic breath from his mouth, and his spikes charging up
