XUV is AWD not 4WD All-Wheel Drive As the name implies, all-wheel drive (AWD) can feed power to each corner. Depending on the system (designs vary), AWD can provide maximum forward traction during acceleration. It is especially helpful in sloppy road conditions and when driving over moderate off-road terrain. It can help get you going and keep you moving through mud, sand, and other loose surfaces. Most AWD systems deliver power primarily to one set of wheels, front or rear. When slippage is detected at one axle, power is diverted to the other axle, in hopes of finding more traction there. Sophisticated clutch systems and, more recently, the use of electric motors allow for precise control over the power sent to each wheel. High-performance vehicles with AWD often send power to each corner at all times but can alter the balance among the wheels depending on conditions or drive mode to change the performance characteristics of the car. Not all AWD systems are equal. Subaru’s AWD system always directs at least some of the engine’s power to the rear, and it can direct a larger amount aft if needed. Many other systems fitted to front-wheel-drive vehicles operate with 100 percent of the power normally going to the front wheels; the rear wheels then receive power only when the front wheels start slipping, or proactively based on the vehicle conditions or drive mode selection. This transfer of power is traditionally achieved with a mechanical driveshaft running the length of the car, but electric vehicles and some hybrids utilize individual motors at each axle with no physical connection between them. AWD systems are especially helpful in rapidly changing conditions or when driving on a road with intermittent snow and ice. It is commonly used for car-based SUVs, as well as certain cars and minivans. Four-Wheel Drive Although four-wheel drive (4WD) and AWD are designations that are often used interchangeably in advertising and sales literature, there is a difference. Generally, 4WD is optimized for severe off-road driving situations such as climbing over boulders, fording deep water, and tackling steep hills with loose, low-traction surfaces. Most 4WD systems use a heavy-duty transfer case with a high and a low gear range, the latter used to increase torque at the wheels for low-speed climbing. Some have differentials (which allow left and right wheels and front and rear axles to turn at different speeds) that can be locked for maximum traction. Modern 4WD systems are full-time, which means they stay engaged; automatic, where the vehicle automatically switches between two- and four-wheel-drive mode; or part-time, which requires the driver to manually shift between two- and four-wheel drive. Vehicles with a part-time system shouldn’t be driven on dry pavement when in 4WD mode, which could risk damage to the vehicle’s drivetrain. Aside from serious off-road enthusiasts, most drivers never come close to needing the capability that 4WD systems provide over and above AWD systems.
Really happy with my xuv700, aside for some niggles, the car is a beast, 2.0 L petrol engine picks up speed smoothly, and the interior feels premium too. For those who are planning to buythe AX7 variant, I'd suggest to increase your budget a bit and go for the luxury variant, the 12 speaker setup is amazingly good

I am a proud Nexon owner, but I feel harrier could have been way better. Xuv700’s future looks quite promising. Again happy for both Tata and Mahendra ✌️
Top models - about 29L for both Xuv - All wheel drive, 360 degree camera and it's features, seat memory and welcome retract, ADAS including adaptive cruise control with stop & go, led lamps with auto booster, air dam, better boot space, much better touchscreen & instrument pannel, larger sunroof, 7 airbags, sliding driver armrest, bigger spare tyre, smart door handles (hope will last), better connected features, Alexa support. Safari - terrain modes, auto dimming irvm, ventilated seats for front & back passengers, sliding second row, better third raw space, better ambient lighting. Overall xuv 700 seems to be better value for money. Suspension - both must be same, xuv has fsd to manage stiffness for slow and high speed. Power r o weight and torque is better for XUV, though comparable. Mileage - arai better for XUV, but not sure, expects to be same. Ground clearance slightly more for Safari. Rest are individual preferences.
More sensors also add up to the maintenance cost. I think both Safari and Xuv700 should've got 4x4/4WD. All wheel drive ln Xuv 700 is good but isn't much useful than FWD...RWD would've been a bit better instead.
@@monaramalaha7506 Reliability is great on both trust me, thei products are better than their counterparts. I've seen more Maruti's and Hyundai's at service centers with tons of issues and with High service cost as well.
Excellent comparo! - No bias worth mentioning and both come out clear winners! My only niggle is with the SUV moniker - Mahindra have provided AWD in their top model whereas Tata have not - thus leaving the all-terrain medal with the XUV! Is it so difficult for Tata's financial gurus to green-light the AWD option in the Safari! Without this AWD option, the comparo will remain on an uneven playing field.

Depends on which variant you are going for. Don't see the features of top variant (AX7 L) and book other variants. AX5 isn't value for money at all! Infact it is one of the worst deals, let along cruise control, it doesn't even offer a rear parking camera! (Remember, this isn't MX or AX3 this is AX5!). Also, there is no option of electrically folding ORVMs (you have to fold it manually). But AX7 of XUV700 is VFM if you have that budget

When I had seen nano and tata indica I had thought India never ever make good product like japnese and German vehicle but now those two products made me astounding how Indian products are rapid growing and jumped in to next level.
As it stands today, between the second off variants (AX5 and XT/XT+), TATA safari is definitely the most value for money. Cruise control, reverse camera, a simple auto climate control are some expectations of a 20L+ car of this size, both for safety and comfort, that xuv700 AX5 misses out on. And as it turns out, MnM have also removed the navigation buttons for the menu options from the steering wheel in AX5.

Easily gonna go for XUV 700. Harrier is better than Safari. Landrover platform is for 5-seater not 7-seater. The stability and integrity changes a lot by adding 3rd row. That is exactly why XUV received highest score in NCAP compared to any other car in India, not just SUV, while Safari being launched so much earlier has yet not received a rating. Tata did 100% effort for Harrier but for Safari they did nothing other than adding 3rd row. Engine, Steering, Infotainment, Suspension, etc every single thing is exactly the same as Harrier.
@@purnenduibo Strength and integrity of a platform depends on many other things than just dimensions, for example just adding a Sunroof to a design can weaken the overall strength of system that is why Pre-installed sunroofs are recommended rather than after-market. similarly even though dimension might be same there are other factors too like Landrover platform was already modified so much to make harrier and after that they didn't put that much effort when they added the 3rd row. So Harrier is based on Landrover platform but Safari is not, Safari is based on Harrier. Though Tata might claim it, too much modification is already done to the platform to be called the same platform. like Windows10, 7, 8, xp, etc can be called OS based on MS-Dos but they are now completely different to each other in terms of usability, performance and stability. Same goes for Harrier and Safari. If Safari was equally safe as Harrier (4 star) they would have sent it for NCAP rating already. While Mahindra got the highest rating, even higher than Harrier, that shows that just because it is based on a better platform doesn't mean it will have the same structural stability.
No mention of AWD.. in this case XUV 700 is the one offering it.. Big reason to consider above Safari for those who want to take their car in challenging driving terrains.
My father has safari and after seeing xuv700 I thought he made a mistake but I have to say after taking test drive of xuv700. You buy any of them you'll never regret that aura both had is out of the world and no foreign brand can come near it. Tha great Indian derbi🔥

Dil kehta h Safai ❤️ Dimag kehta h XUV700 🧠 😫😓 . . . But I think I'll prefer Safari more than XUV700 because of ruggedness and Land Rover Discovery platform.
Safari was launched earlier and hence XUV 700 being late comer , Mahindra have seen features of Safari and loaded XUV 700 what is lacking in Safari. Now next generation Scorpio is coming in 2022. After studying Scorpio, Tata may launch the new Era Tata Sierra ( shown in auto expo , 2020) which may be ahead of Scorpio . This tug of war will go on. Both companies are good.
TATA and Mahindra are Real gems of INDIAN CAR COMPANIES...!! It's high time that people should stop buying Korean and Japanese Cars and GO VOCAL FOR LOCAL
Loved this comparison Rachit bro but we need MAHA COMPARISON between: XUV 700 vs HARRIER vs SAFARI vs HECTOR/GLOSTER Like this comment so that RACHIT makes one.
These four cars don't fall in the same category. I think just like FORTUNER, ENDEAVOUR, GLOSTER and ALTURAS G4, we need a MAHA COMPARISON between SAFARI, XUV700, HECTOR PLUS, & ALCAZAR. That would be a fair comparison.
Safari is made on a heavily cost cut platform of the LR D8. LRD8 is entirely aluminium. Safari wouldn’t fare more than 3 stars on this platform, major reason why they haven’t sent it for a crash test yet.
Awesome features, however I having XUV 500 W7 2019 model with wheels replaced by MI Alloy Yakohama all terrain tires, On long drive suddenly a XUV 700 showed in front and soon on highway race started, I was around 150 kmph and zig zag traffic 160 , 165, then XUV 700 gave up and vanished behind me, immediately I went down to 100 , 95, and 90 which is my usual high way speed still XUV 700 didn't show up, well owner might be really caring his car
Paint quality me I will give Tata is downgrade.. Over a period of time, I find the colour on Tata vehicles to fade & lose shine.. compared with other brands..

@@Heisenberg8307 awd ??

Both cars are legend Diamonds if India 🔥🔥 proud to be INDIAN 🔥🔥❤️
Really happy with my xuv700, aside for some niggles, the car is a beast, 2.0 L petrol engine picks up speed smoothly, and the interior feels premium too. For those who are planning to buythe AX7 variant, I'd suggest to increase your budget a bit and go for the luxury variant, the 12 speaker setup is amazingly good

I am a proud Nexon owner, but I feel harrier could have been way better. Xuv700’s future looks quite promising.
Again happy for both Tata and Mahendra ✌️
I just watched the Thumbnail of this Video for 1 Minute.
Both are Beasts!
True! 😁
19:49 Harrier main White Seat 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Top models - about 29L for both
Xuv - All wheel drive, 360 degree camera and it's features, seat memory and welcome retract, ADAS including adaptive cruise control with stop & go, led lamps with auto booster, air dam, better boot space, much better touchscreen & instrument pannel, larger sunroof, 7 airbags, sliding driver armrest, bigger spare tyre, smart door handles (hope will last), better connected features, Alexa support.
It's 27 lakhs
More sensors also add up to the maintenance cost. I think both Safari and Xuv700 should've got 4x4/4WD.
All wheel drive ln Xuv 700 is good but isn't much useful than FWD...RWD would've been a bit better instead.

Definitely XUV 700 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Baap ha Baap
👍👍
Excellent comparo! - No bias worth mentioning and both come out clear winners! My only niggle is with the SUV moniker - Mahindra have provided AWD in their top model whereas Tata have not - thus leaving the all-terrain medal with the XUV!
Is it so difficult for Tata's financial gurus to green-light the AWD option in the Safari! Without this AWD option, the comparo will remain on an uneven playing field.

Yea Also don't forget the 450Nm torque and AWD varient in Xuv 🤤
the endless feature list too with no compromise in safety.
Xuv700==VFM
My only feedback to mahindra is to Add Esp, tcs, hill hold/start assist as standard in all varients like safari
But price is on the lower side dude so u can't compare that to base variants of safari
I am extremely thankful to you, for this comparison. You have cleared my doubt regarding second row space!
I am glad to see that XUV 700 almost won in that comparison! Finally, I am all in for XUV!

Yes xuv 700 diesel automatic a7 awd luxury pack is best option to consider i also booked it tata safari is ok but not good as xuv700
Yes
As it stands today, between the second off variants (AX5 and XT/XT+), TATA safari is definitely the most value for money. Cruise control, reverse camera, a simple auto climate control are some expectations of a 20L+ car of this size, both for safety and comfort, that xuv700 AX5 misses out on. And as it turns out, MnM have also removed the navigation buttons for the menu options from the steering wheel in AX5.
XUV7 AX5 would have been an ideal buy if only they added Cruise control and automatic climate control with key less option to it.
And standard rv cam
@@topgear_75 : Yes that too

That’s fantastic..!
TATA & Mahindra are 💎 of 🇮🇳
Easily gonna go for XUV 700.
But Safari dimensions is almost same as of Landrover....so no compromise by adding 3rd row
I think there is no awd in XUV but there in Scorpio

Safari was launched earlier and hence XUV 700 being late comer , Mahindra have seen features of Safari and loaded XUV 700 what is lacking in Safari. Now next generation Scorpio is coming in 2022. After studying Scorpio, Tata may launch the new Era Tata Sierra ( shown in auto expo , 2020) which may be ahead of Scorpio . This tug of war will go on. Both companies are good.
