Hurricane Ian before and after images show the severe damage in Florida

I was there. Me and my family had to carry out a mandatory evacuation the day it hit. It was so quick, it felt like one minute we were in our house prepping, the next we’re on the road driving through the hurricane to Miami. God protected us, our house, and my friends and family. We came back to no damage except for some water getting in. I thanked, God, and my parents for keeping us safe. It is truly horrible what happened there. When we drove back, we saw an entire town reduced to almost wreckage. A gas station was missing one of those things that the gas pumps are in, an entire semi truck was flipped on it’s side,and when I heard that it was only worse going further, with Fort Myers being absolutely devastated, I was fearing the worse. But everything was fine. My heart goes out to all the families that have lost friends and loved ones because of Ian. You are seen. Not only by God, but by all of us that were affected.
Edit: We lived in Ruskin, which is not that far from Fort Myers, which is why I feared the worst.

There aren’t such things as mandatory evacuations in Florida, they can’t force you.
Also, I live in fort myers so you are seriously lucky. My neighbor died and I lost everything I own. Hate FEMA…. Lol

and don't assume everyone has insurance, because if your house or mobile home is bought and paid for like mine, you do not have to have it, many of us seniors on fixed incomes, cannot afford the insurance.....

Especially since flooding from a hurricane is only covered under flood insurance, which can be pricey /; a lot of seniors lost their home 😢
