This Ireland team is magnificent, but they’re simply not the best team in the world! The depth and generational experience of the Boks and All Blacks remains supreme.
The blacks have been great, but the boks have been a scandal in this cup. They won every match because of corruption. Ireland would have crush them. edit: I mean in final
I agree Ireland isn't the best (albeit it was very tight) but the boks should not have won the world cup this year. Just their luck to get a useless ref in the quarter final and Sam Cane forgot how to tackle in the final.
@@Nico-x2t4t Talking about corruption when France’s hosting rights were secured because of bribery and your head of rugby was convicted of corruption mere weeks before the opening ceremony. Absolutely laughable.
Watched this in the stadium. Ireland played a lot of the rugby but New Zealand had our number. I think the Joe Schmidt input may have made the difference. As an Irish fan I would quibble with the constant penalising of Porter, but the reality is that when the ABs has their chances they took them. You can play as much rugby as you want but being clinical with your opportunities is what counts. And the ABs did that. That try at 52 minutes destroyed us. There was no coming back after that. And South Africa did exactly the same against France the next day (I was at that match too - had my heart broken two days in a row!).
Ireland played the worst edition of the all blacks with the worst possible coach in all blacks history ,,, wake up. the reason the all blacks PLAYERS won was to exonerate themselves of the 2nd and third home test loss to Ireland , simple as that.
Watching it in April 2024 though some time has passed, its still enthralling for our ABs to knock off the no 1. in the world and to have 2 penalties missed in the finals to win the championship. Proud as punch for my ABs.
Let us not call them the top ranked team in the world. The all blacks and south africa are the top ranked teams irrespective of what world rugby wants to say. Nobody can match those two giants of the game.
The best part of this World Cup (aside from winning it of course) was seeing South Africa and New Zealand, respectively, dispatching France and Ireland. All this boasting and posturing came to such a swift and dramatic end, and the fallout was glorious. It reminds me of this quote: “A mountain was in labour, uttering immense groans, and on earth there was very great expectation - but it gave birth to a mouse.”
I think I had a few mild heart attacks. Stopped breathing cause I was too vocal. And then our hero stepped up to take the Irish out of the game. Congratulations to MY BELOVED ALL BLACK AND THE MIGHTY SAM WHITLOCK. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE IRISH AS WELL.
Utmost respect to Ireland but rugby is not an American sport where arrogance & disrespect is a thing of normalcy towards their opponents. NZ has been consistently at the top of world rugby for over a hundred years and that's no fluke. Ireland has only been up there for the last few years. Winning a couple of games against the All Blacks does not make you better. Anyways, great game, awesome result and tull next time. Chur Churrr
First viewing of the video since that game seen from the stands very close to the final action. Confirming the first feeling of this being the best World Cup match ever. The SA-France quarter final, also seen from the stand the following day, was great but a wee bit below in intensity and quality. Fun fact, of the 6 tries, only one (the penalty try) was not from an NZ hand.
actually it was the other way around ! France vs South Africa was far more intense for the whole 80minutes. faster, more exciting, big collisions, great Defense by both Teams, exciting Runs ! definitely the Game of the World Cup and one of the best ever !
Coming here after learning that about 12 of the Irish squad told Etzebeth they would see them in the GF is really satisfying. Never thought Id hear about arrogance in the Irish Rugby team.

Look what showed up on my news feed. Haven't watched this game since November. Rewatching it after a few months certainly does solidify a few thoughts and opinions I had at the time and also highlighted things I hadn't noticed. The AB's were just absolutely awesome in this game. Playing 20 minutes with 14 men, countless dubious calls going against them, officials hellbent on keeping Ireland in the game right into overtime. The AB's didn't have the best start to the tournament. But, they were the ones that showed true heart, grit and composure. They were the ones that showed their class, mental and physical toughness when it mattered. Surround by a predominantly Irish crowd, written off by everyone except for the diehard faithfuls. Ireland played a great game and to the best of their ability, or were allowed too, unfortunately for Ireland it wasn't enough to get them home. Couple of things that stood out for me was watching a young AB proping pair (with little or no game time coming into this match), monster Ireland's best. Even when the reserve proping pair (who were even younger and inexperienced) came on and pumped the Irish old heads. AB's only used 21 men for this game as well. What an effort. Best game in WC history.
Funny guy, numerous calls against NZ, unlike those against Ireland, red card missed, forward pass for opening try etc etc, we can all point out missed calls or bad calls, bottom line is NZ played the best rugby they have in 8 years and Ireland didn't play as they could and weren't as clinical, so NZ deserved there win, all that said they didn't win it all and that's all that matters
@@CF-lg8jd Hmmmmn... So the AB's beat Ireland in another quarter final and according to you, they played the best game they've played in 8 years... and, you're calling me a comedian?Alllllllrighty then. I guess a another fair statement would be, Ireland in the past 2 years have played the best rugby they've played in the last 100+ years, but are still choking in the quarters at WC's even when they're favourites? Red card? Don't know what that could be for. However if there was an instant where you think a red card was warranted, maybe the officials looked at the incident you're alluding to and Barnes and his mates thought it was a non issue. Similar to that of Porter when he lead with his head and hit Broddie squareo on the chops in the test series in NZ. Only a yellow card for Potty, he's got the right colours on. Forward pass that lead to an AB try? Come on son, you're reaching now. If you're gonna make excuses try and come up with original stuff. That ones pretty well worn. Take a lesson from the Irish bloke who said Kane couldn't ruck, at least that was original. A pity for him and all the other Irish supporters who said the Irish were going to wipe the floor with AB's prior to the game, Sammy actually brought his rucking boots for that game. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. AB's playing with 14 men for 20mins and not using 2 reserves and still winning that game, yeah, that should tell you all you need to know about how good Ireland really are. I'm predicting, once Irish Bundee retires, the Irish are really going to struggle without his presence. You never know, Andy and Co might head down under in the summer to see if they can pick themselves up another Maori All Black, or 2. Help them get over their WC hump in 27'. 😎
40:20, Sexton not taking the points there again, the second one. They would have been 16:18. Different game. Not Atttack, but Defence wins World Cups. Lol to think that England is the only northern Hemisphere team that get that.
Ireland should have learned in their game against south Africa that it's easier to defend a lead than chase one down instead of celebrating like they won the WC.
The top 4 teams (Ireland, Boks, All Blacks and France) could all beat each other. It just depends what team is more up for it that day. Absolutely love watching these matches when they happen. First 20 minutes, the Irish didn’t have their head in the game. Refusing points on the board and instead kicking for the corner, no support in a tackle, and just kicking a ball without paying attention to what NZ are doing. Never switch off when playing against a team like NZ. At this level you can’t afford to play like this.
I beg to differ. If the Irish agree with you, than it's a cop out. Ireland made fundamental errors in the first 20 and were made to chase the game. And choked.😂
@spearsgears That was awesome. Remind me about our lost against India T20 cricket. That game saving catch on the boundary. Was so good couldn't even be mad. What was more shocking was ABs going 1-1 vs Argentina at home.
That Moanga run and the Jordan try was so simple. Basic 10 channel run with the most subtle of ball in hand, not even a dummy pass. VDF made such a simple mistake that knocked them out of the World Cup.
Ireland is such a good team, very cold and technical. They are just not good enough at the highest level as they lack heart in their gameplay. They came to this quarter final so overconfident and sure, forgetting they are going agiants the mighty All Blacks. They need to play more matches against Southern Hemisphere teams to get some proper Test Match Rugby experience within them.

Had worked for Ireland throughout the World Cup and before . New Zealand did the exact same thing not long later in the final against South Africa and it didn't work out for them either. It's a case of a great tactical move when it works out but an error if not . Nothing more nothing less.
@@celtic1916 South Africa dont take kicks at posts and back their 7-1 split full-on. The irony was that at the WC against Ireland, they picked a 7-1 split but opted to kick for posts and Libbok missed most of his kicks - 11 points on offer in all. In hindsight is was a blessing in disguise for them - they would have lost against the ABs in the quarters lol
Not alone did New Zealand kick for the corners. Instead of taking their kicks, they also never attempted to set up for a drop goal in good positions in the final parts of the game instead looking for a try when there was only one point in it. So why call others arrogant? Quarter final? You met them in the final . You can't say you would have beaten them in the quarter finals if the game never existed. That's arrogant with no substance to the claim .
it wasnt that they knew they needed to score tries to beat New Zealand and you have to score tries to beat them before they have a purple patch. Ireland tend to almost always go for the jugular now in the past the were guilty of letting teams off the rack with shots at goal.

Ireland is a great side but the arguing with the ref even the water boy arguing with the ref about the head on head is disgraceful, they probaly knew the only chance they had of beating NZ was with a man down, Pitiful
Never said otherwise. I'm just pointing out these two officials got extreme abuse and are still getting it to this day from New Zealand fans. I know Ireland and Barnes had their differences in the past , maybe have a little whinge and move on . But what happened at this World Cup was a different level. Even his wife spoke about the abuse she got on World Cup final day in Paris in a later post and said enough is enough. That's unacceptable, so the original commenter talking about what is disgraceful needs a memory check cause what he is talking about is fairly mild compared to some of what happened with his own folk .
@@celtic1916 the online abuse isn't and should never be acceptable but that's the sad world we live in and unfortunately these idiots will never stop, however, the water boy doing it to the refs face on a world stage allows for more idiots to think it's ok to treat a referee like that, so he was way out of line. This Ireland team is magnificent, but they’re simply not the best team in the world! The depth and generational experience of the Boks and All Blacks remains supreme.
The blacks have been great, but the boks have been a scandal in this cup. They won every match because of corruption. Ireland would have crush them.

Ireland was overrated leading in to the world cup.

This was a grudge match for AB's after the disrespect off the Irish team showed during the tour of NZ.

An awesome game! Well done NZ!
Love that these matches are being posted so we can enjoy them. I would say that for those of us unfamiliar with the outcome, posting the scores in the thumbnail kind of ruins the excitement a little.
@@CF-lg8jd
Hmmmmn... 😎

Can't understand why Andrew Porter was whinging about all the penalties he gave away. They were all spot on.
Because they weren't the Kiwi prop couldn't handle his power, and Barnes went in with a preconceived idea and just picked on him all game. Porter is one of the best looseheads in the world he was naturally irritated by the interpretation.
