Those are in-ear monitors, they allow Josh and other drummers to hear what the rest of the band is playing, perhaps adding a metronome to set the song tempo if the drummer wishes. In this case, he is hearing and playing to the "Lane Boy" track that we've synced up to his drumming. They can also offer a level of hearing protection depending on the model.

Josh inspired me to get my own drum set and i couldn't be happier because thanks to him i found out that it is one of my favourite instruments and i'm so happy i discovered it thanks to him.Even when i'll be like 35,and i'll still be playing the drums but i'll not be so much into bands or into twenty one pilots,i'll still be grateful to him. I just love those guys so much.
I started playing the drums about a year ago, he is definitely who I look up too when I think about what I can become. I just love his drumming and hope I can be like him one day
