    Re: Ruined Ecumenopolis - The limit is correct, there is a limit of 25 districts. However, 20 districts are currently ruined, leaving only 5 behind. This value is reflected in the arcology districts. What you're seeing is not 0/5 of *each* but 0/5 possible. If you were to construct say, a Housing district, it'd be 1/5, but the others would be 0/4. This is because the values reflect potential. Since there are only five available districts, building one of a type will mean that there is a potential of four leftover. Clearing the ruined Arcologies raises the amount as you reclaim the ruins of Fen Habbanis.

      Huh?

    • @BrianatorFTW
      @BrianatorFTW 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mm-xd5sd Stellaris' calculation of how many districts can be built gets a tiny bit confusing when you stop having limits (machine worlds lose the ability to have agriculture districts but also lose limits on mining and generator districts) but, as can most commonly be reflected in city districts, the first number is always the amount of that district you have, while the second number is the potential number of those districts if you build no other districts, this second number does not take into consideration how many other districts you can build but does take all limits into account, like blockers, or in the case of things like agricultural districts, actual planetary limits.

      For the purposes of the subsidiaries, will they be affected by governing ethics attraction if he does subjugate them? If so, won't they actually gradually like their new overlord? Or do the corps work differently? Maybe splitting the empire into a few smaller subsidiaries (via white peace) and letting their ethics drift towards your own is a solution.

    @bookshop7337 5 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Jon, here's some more advice. Once again, hope you see this:
    5:00-5:15 ) Two pieces of advice. 1, neither shipyards nor anchorages provide piracy support and 2, station "protection" provides a base cap that piracy must exceed to effect trade, but does not cause the amount of piracy present to decrease. Only fleets actually lower system piracy.
    22:19-22:45 ) "Ecumenopolus" is a planet type, not a megastructure. If you choose the related ascension perk (Arcology Project), you can convert your own planets into them. They are absolute monsters for trade, alloy, and luxury good production, but you will need to have loads of energy and food to keep them going. P.S. Love that you kept calling it Coruscant. That is what I named my colony on the first league capital!
    23:40-24:13 ) An extension of what @Simon Nyne said, the "ruined districts" act as tile blockers, just like hostile wildlife or volcanos. In my comment on the last video I talked a bit about blockers, but I'll reiterate and expand on that advice. Tile blockers decrease the max number of district slots (essentially decreasing the planet size) in addition to locking off certain districts of each type. Also, the "ruined arcologies" on Fen Habbanis III can't just be "fixed". Clearing them out is no different from removing tile blockers on other worlds.
    24:13-24:31 ) I don't think those are bugs. That entire system is supposed to be absolutely lucrative. But I could be wrong.
    36:20-26:24 ) Yes.
    1:08:07-1:08:15 ) Each Gun/Missile Battery or Hangar provides trade protection AND +1 trade protection range.

    Jon, when building robots, click on the assembled pop to open a menu where you can decide which template should be built. Also, with star bases, when you put extra trade modules they extend trade collection by one each. This means that one strategically placed star base could cover a very wide chunk of space. It also means you could collect the trade from Prosperity remotely.

    Jon, if ever you want to help in a war but can't reach the combatants, just funnel them huge amounts of your excess resources. You're basically pulling a USA v USSR, from the cold war, only *IN SPACE!* If you give enough resources you'll reduce the strain on their economy and actually allow them to actually focus on building what they need to fight the war, if... you know... that's your thing...

  • @RavingNutter

    Jon you need to secure the Xir system. Currently you do not share a border with the Tyals and whenever the Rontor close their borders, they have to go through the Qiramulan territory to reinforce you which could also get closed off. Thankfully, with the Rontor and Uthonians in a federation, the Tyals can attack through Xir. Had they stayed in a defensive pact, then it would've been a long time before Tyal reinforcements showed up to help had the Rontor attacked.
    Also, look at the Diplomacy adoption bonus. It's broken when combined with your Fanatical Xenophile ethic.

    I got lucky with my first MegaCorp, I spawned in next to pacifist xenophobes who generated 4 primitives, so every time the primitives got kicked out they came to fill up my slave population. At the height of my game I was making so much money and minerals I'd keep hitting the cap every 4 years or so. MegaCorps are SCARY powerful if you spec into them correctly. Criminal heritage seems to make the whole thing a bit more 'hard-mode' from what I'm seeing with this series, because my playthrough was a cakewalk.

    You don’t need to have a huge-ass 1800 or 2200 Strength naval stack out on piracy suppression. A few Corvettes - or perhaps just even one - is sufficient in most cases. Ships that are out in space require a bunch more Upkeep than ships that are docked (yellow icon) which again require more than ships properly docked at a Crew Quarters. And Upkeep includes Alloys!
    Granted it’s only a decimal amount per Corvette, and you save only a fraction of that, but it adds up over time.

    For military starbases each weapon provides a +1 range to it's protection while adding +5 for missiles and guns and +10 for hangers. The idea is you can have a big starbase with a lot of fighters that handle protection against pirates while your fleets are freed for more pressing issues. Depending on the value one starbase might not be enough or may be overkill but it is something to keep in mind as like I said if your in the middle of a war your fleets will need to be away, but if the piracy gets out of control you could be crippled back home

  • @23kurtzy
    @23kurtzy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    John they changed how naval capacity worked slightly. Building a stronghold now gives soldier jobs that boost your naval capacity by a substantial margin. This also gives you the bonus of generating 2 defensive armies 3 when boosted to a fortress. This saves you from having to build anchorages all over the place freeing up valuable slots on your star bases.
