I agree Nathan, I'm 62 and still swing my Taylor Made Burner Plus 1987. To get the answer I dropped in on local professional golf club fitter Lars who works at Roger Dunn Golf Shop. (5.23.2022) Nice guy, he lined up 2022 demo drivers for review Taylor Made, Titleist, Cobra, Callaway, Ping, then he turned on that computer thing and recorded my hacks with each club. It was a thrill to be in the cage again. It was great fun to eliminate each contender...ba bye, next. lol The data doesn't lie Nathan: Callaway - 9.0 - Rogue LS - Tensei Stiff flex - $579 + CA tax. Maybe not... Looking at the Callaway Mavrik - 2020 model for $300 less. Maybe yes...
I would’ve like to see Thomas really go after the SubZero in the more “playable” 9 deg loft setting. Extra few miles clubhead speed might have got him 320 total there also?
Generally what we have found when we have weighed just the head they are actually pretty close in total weight. The GC is just placed differently - Thomas
In todays #fitterfriday video, we are excited to share our trackman testing insights that we found while comparing the the Callaway Mavrik lineup of new drivers. If you are in the market for a new Callaway Mavrik driver, this is a great place to start and narrow down your options. Our master fitter, Thomas Campbell will be available for QA today during the premier. If he is unable to get to your question during that time, simply eave your questions in the comments section below and he will be sure to get back to. As always, be sure to subscribe for weekly golf equipment insight, reviews, knowledge, and play.
Some simulators don't read the club speed quite accurately but assuming it's accurate then yes, it's how you deliver the club head to the ball. Ball speed is a horizontal measurement so if you hit the ball higher, don't hit out of the centre or spin it too much then you get less ball speed.
Johnny Penso thanks. Yeah I have a Garmin launch monitor using radar and then I back that speed up at the local golf galaxy. Guess it’s time to work on my swing. I do hit the ball a mile high. To the point when it lands it doesn’t roll it jumps backwards. But then again fairways have been soft around here.
^^ Went to a friends fitting yesterday at Miles of Golf in Ypsilanti near Detroit. He got fitted for some P790s. At the end he asked about a driver. He was hitting a G400 he got fitted for but it was set at 10.5 degrees. He hit it pretty high and spun it at close to 3000 rpm. He got fitted for a 9 degree head, dropped his spin about 800 revs with the lower loft and a shaft change and picked up 20 yards. Just for fun I tried his current G400 and hit it with the same numbers he hit his new fitted club with so it suited me perfectly and I bought it from him. Two guys, same swing speed to the mph, two different driver setups/shaft combinations and the same yardages.
@@michaelhorner912 should have 11-13 degrees of launch and back spin around 2000, if you are hitting centre of face and squared up club head this should give you better ball speed
Yeah, in talking to the guys they felt like it was probably more valuable for the audience to see how that driver performed in terms of trying to create a draw bias, both in terms of the movable weights and the hosel settings. We can do for testing with that driver, however, in future videos. Thanks for watching!
Peter, Thomas will probably be around later to respond to comments but it's our understanding that he's definitely going with the Cobra to start the year. But Mavrik Sub Zero is almost certainly where he would turn next if he felt like a change was necessary. Thanks.
Thanks Guys, that was a really comprehensive set of tests and demonstrated how much versatility there is across the Mavrik range. Basically, if you get professionally fit there is a Mavrik driver set-up that will fit just about any adult male golfer. PS your new store set-up looks like an amazing Golf geek paradise! I'm trying to think of a strategy to persuade my wife that we need to fly over from the UK just to take a quick look lol
Could have tried the standard with the upright setting. I bet that might have gotten the number he wanted as well.
Great review and glad to see the results but it would be nice to see a 60 plus year old hitting the game improvement clubs as the Mavrik Max

Great test helping me to understand the effect of the adjustments on the Club face and not just the flight which is swing dependant.
Thanks Dennis - glad you found this video helpful!
Shame you didn’t give the price for the pxg. Really like the look and sound of it

great vid - I would have liked to see you leave the draw setting in the Max and then take the weight out of the heel and move to the back of the head
Is the sub zero head lighter than the max head?

I think Thomas could hit any driver well. Great looking swing.
Yeah, he makes it look pretty easy. Thanks for checking out the video!
What would be the minimum club speed to really make subzero efficient?
Well done guys, not a big fan of calloway though, Could you guys doe a comparison between wilson D7 and Wilson D7 forged please?
We have had a lot of D7 requests, so we will see what we can do. Thanks.
I’d also like to see the D7 driver compared to the big names guys

I don’t get it I swing between 112-115 no matter what I can only get 155 ball speed I’ve tried numerous clubs. Is it delivery?

Standard Mavrik all day long!!
You didn't test the Max with the heavy weight back....

Would he rather have cobra or callaway head mow

Thanks Bandit - if you ever get over to the Washington D.C. area, our Columbia, Maryland store has many of the same features and is even bigger!
