Ariel has such an odd understanding of why people are upset. he's insistent on this narrative that you cannot call Jake Paul a bum while also being concerned for Mike or be upset for this fight being made. Jake Paul is by no means a high level boxer, but he is young, active, has access to the best trainers and facilities and is building a boxing resume . The fact that Ariel keeps saying he is not getting paid by Saudis or Jake is so disingenuous as we all know that payment comes in all kinds of subtle ways ( e.g.getting later hired to cover events, getting access for interviews etc). The WBC have no spine . They allow Tyson Fury to not take mandatories and say “he’s a victim of his own success” when he doesn’t fight for a year and talks about retirement. They gave a potential cheating boxer (Connor Benn) an excuse for him to use and didn’t remove him from their rankings. They also let Fury fight Francis (an 0-0 boxer at the time) for his WBC belt just so it could go on Furys record.

The ignorance is nuts... the reason the ufc is capable of pulling such amazing numbers is because they reinvest such a large portion of profits back into the company, rather than giving 50% to the prelim fighters who joe blow has never heard of. If Tyson loses then everyone knows it proves nothing, Jake will massively lose popularity and fight media will try and forget the whole embarrassment as quickly as possible.

Using being paid by “only” the broadcaster is such a weak statement. The broadcaster is only paying the money they do because of the money they’re getting From the event organisers.

Fighter Pay: please consider that expenses are also going WAY up as they continue to rapidly expand and build infrastructure in multiple countries art once (fighter hotels, Performance Institute, new venue deals, etc). We have to acknowledge that they are a business and it’s never as simple as more revenue equals more pay.
