  • The Gurungs of central Nepal are trying to preserve aspects of their ancient shamanic culture. They have set up a 'Khoimbo' or ritual and cultural centre in Pokhara. These films record visits by Alan Macfarlane and Sarah Harrison to this centre, where they are greeted by Lt. I.B. Gurung and others. For further information please see www.alanmacfarlane.com

    born and brought up in the northeast of India, know little about gurungs culture and religion. Now I am at learning stage. surprises me a foriegner taking pains to make a breakthrough gurung history, culture and religion in which he has succeeded. congrats. I am looking for all books on gurung written by macfarlane and sarrah for studying.

    Liked the way he speak Gurung language.. appreciate the work done by macfarlane and sarah and pye lhu sung who are reallly dedicated to preserve the real Tamu culture and tradition ...
