Terrible idea! Given Matt’s reluctance to think things through, terrible idea.
Recovery charges would go up significantly. Costs to operate a helicopter can easily run $2K to +$3K per flight hour.

Good driver, he understands how vehicles drive, but gonna be hard to drive against guys like Kevin, JH, and Deberti.
7 years watching Garrett, 4 something years watching Matt, and the thing I notice and admire about both of these men is how well they treat everyone around them, from the great teams they build, their customers, fans, business partners, families, fellow TH-camrs, etc., everyone is treated with respect and kindness. Such a breath of fresh air and a pleasure to witness. Great job guys and God bless you both!

Much of the reason I LOVE Matt... He loves animals... and they clearly love him. A man after my own heart. Same here... just love, that's all. Animals KNOW IT.
The helicopter is a Schwiezer 300 of which I have memories, some f them even good memories, learning to fly in one of those, shall we just say …a long time ago. There is a good chance you can drive back to Utah faster than you can fly it home. I’m pretty confident it will do ok from FL to about Albuquerque, after that it’s the Wild West with the winds and turbulence on the high desert plains. It would be solid entertainment to see Matt take flight lessons in that.
Turbulence, didn't think about that. I'm in S. AZ and it's been windy here for a week now.
Man. I’ve been a follower of Matt, Cleetus, and cooper for years and years. So cool to see them together.
It's good to see Cleetus offering the ultimate respect to Matt and the "other" awesome Utah tubers. Mad respect to Cleetus inviting the humble and down to Earth awesome You Tube stars from Utah.

Racing compound Nitto tires are awesome once they are hot but scary how poorly the stick when cold. Just like off roading, so much of it is in the tires. I appreciate Matt joining with other TH-cam channels so I find new channels to watch that I would not have found otherwise.
That episode was definitely appreciated. It's crazy how many of you know each other through the same people in different genres. It seems that Cletus and Dave Sparks can definitely bring the best people together. The things that you guys do on a daily basis, are anything but ordinary to the rest of us.. thanks for having the courage to put it out there for everyone to see.

One advantage Matt has, and I don't think he realizes it, is from all those recoveries on some pretty dangerous trails has given him the ability to judge distance really well. I've watched him pull vehicles out of some bad spots...and always does it...overcoming problems on the fly. I think he will be a great race driver, especially after 20 laps or so in. Good luck Matt...can't wait ti see the helicopter on your roof....lol
Matt i used to race that track . The trick to a fast lap is stay on the wall till you come into corner 1 the track entrance then come in low let off gas for a split secont and coming out of two cash the gas all the way around . Watch coming out of 2 IT'll want to suck you into the wall but 3 and 4 run wife open .
"Engage attack mode" can't wait for this race! Lookin good with that 19.sec lap matt
The only trouble is, don't they put the fastest cars at the back of the pack? Or maybe not in all races.

One of the few drivers in the Freedom 500s that I can't wait to see run. Just keep your eye out for Kevin from KSR, he might be a good person to get to know before the race.
I wish Matt, Rory & Robby could All participate.... It's always so entertaining when all the TH-camrs get together & play with the toys! plus I think it helps all the channels grow & get even more clicks & conversations... which help their channels. I hope the cross channel mixers keep happening.. it's fun to see everyone sharing each others stomping grounds.....Hey Matt... Make sure you gas up before the race.... lol
I used to race mini stocks on a quarter mile oval. We were topping out at probably 52 mph, but with all paneling, insulation, carpet etc stripped out of the car to make it as light as possible and running 6 inches away from the cars beside you, in front of you and behind you, it felt like you were going ludicrous speed, go! Fun as all get out, you're going to have a good time!

I believe Cleetus is becoming the number one promoter on TH-cam . He will have more people watching the Freedom 500 than people watching Nascar. Congrats on the invite Matt it's going to be one for the scrap book.

Matt said Cleetus had other engagements this year but that he would try to be there next year. Yeah, I watched all the videos of the Off Road Games.

I wouldn't worry about winning. Chances are Diesel Dave will run you into the wall or infield while KSR, one of the pro race drivers and one of Cleetus's cohorts, fight for first. I would just go and enjoy the ride.

So weird seeing you guys walking around the freedom factory. Seriously though, how cool of a guy is Cleetus? "Did they let all you guys drive? Hold on let me make a call". He didn't have to do that at all, and even though it's no big deal to him, it still says something about how cool the guy is. And on top of that feeding everybody too!
Great job on your laps Matt! I was one of the folks commenting that you should get invited. I'd love to see all you Utah guys out there.
Winning the helicopter could be huge for Matt’s off road. He or one of his guys could get their license, it’s not a turbine helicopter so attaining that license isn’t insanely expensive. They could use it to go recon jobs so they know exactly what vehicle, equipment, and people they need to execute the recovery.
They would use it only to deliver jerry can of gas for when they run out and only for that
Doubt insurance would pay those recovered fees. 😅
Forget the Helicopter you all make me a nervous wreck with your daring on the ground. Cannot imagine putting you all in the air. My husband loves your antics. He was a lot like you in his younger days. His family was the first to own 4 wheel drives in our area which is the Rural Ozarks.

Hey Matt, Glad y'all had fun in my home state, you didn't find out good sugar sand, it's farther north on the beaches from Panama City to Pensacola, it's very white, and non aired down 4x4s get stuck in it on flat ground. I have played in Utah sand and can say it don't matter which sand you are in, just flatten the tires and if it still will not go, flatten them more. I think you learned that with the world's largest wreck on that hill that it would not climb until you dropped them lower.
Matt was star struck when he seen/met Cleet. this was awesome.

you need to get the derby boys together for some good old bump to pass enduro until the last car running can do a complete lap under its own power to win. that was our version of derby growing up.

1:34 Cleetus is banned from renting U-Haul equipment. It seems that they did not like one of their small trailers towed behind a Corvette race car at over 100 mph.
He did a spectacular burnout in a rented minivan. It got a lot of views and banned for life

6:40 those big round chrome lights on the sand rail, i had those in the bumper of my 98 Tercel 😂 100w yellow lights, poor car thought it was an Impreza lol. I will say this, those lights saved me from deer and moose numerous times, theyd light up the whole ditch on both sides, as well as road signs as far as you can see. Best $30 i ever spent on lights lol

Matt, I know the excitement you were feeling. I had an opportunity drive a Nascar at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania. 20 miles at 150mph. Wow is all I could say when I got out. I have to say the scariest part was going around the track with the instructor in a 15 passenger Ford van at 60mph.

That crown vic was built about 5 miles from me. I'm in London ontario. 2 hours from Detroit, in Talbotville Ontario. The factory workers went on strike because they were ONLY making about $70k a year (seriously). Ford said go back to work or we'll close the plant. 2 weeks later it closed. It's now a brand new Amazon distributing centre paying minimum wage. Moral of the story, don't get greedy.
