Who All Gonna Be There and Who’s Cooking?
This year, we showed out!
What better way to spend a four-day weekend than with our family and/or friends, eating good food, making memories to talk about next year and just having a relaxing time?
This year, we the McKenzie's, Grant, Jones and Camerons, traveled to the Gulf Shores. Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach Alabama. We wanted to give the grandmother’s a break from the hectic preparation and cooking of their traditional Thanksgiving dinners.
Grandma Ida in her late 80’s and Grandma Carol in her late 70’s standing over a hot stove and baking pies, cakes and cookies is not a holiday. They deserve a much needed break. No cap, I wanted my homemade sweet potato pies and german chocolate cakes.
Thanksgiving is the time that we see all the family and eat lots of food without being judged. No Big back zone for 96 hours! our food hall pass.
We ended up going home with laughter, full stomachs thanks to Hattie B’s, man they was cooking back then. Weren't they Sidrick? You can't get that kid of food up in Boston. We topped it off with some Black Friday shopping. The only arguments of that day was, where we going next and who should host Thanksgiving 2025 at their house.
Family means everything to me, and even though I do not see them as much as I would like, being around them for Thanksgiving has continually made me fortunate and grateful that I could share my warmest holiday memories with them and maintain our traditions for a lifetime.
