Or maybe add some kind of filter, not just for mentor roulette but for all of them. For example, I'm getting pretty sick of landing into lvl 50 Alliance Raids through Alliance Raid roulette. While they can be done fast, they are boring to do over and over. The fact that they are necessary to complete ARR MSQ is one reason they appear so often. With filter I mean that player can select, like max of 5 duties that won't be taken into account when queuing for a roulette. This way I could prevent getting into lvl 50 Alliance Raids. Welcome to the game and thank you for the support! The reason for under the armor is simply that it is the shortest fastest duty to complete in the game. I think I talked a bit more about it in the previous episode where I had 16 of them out of 30 duties! The aim is to finish the duty as fast as possible to reach the point in the duty where Commendations can be given. Some players farm these to quickly reach the requirements to become mentor (you need 1500 of them!) In contrast, it is also the fastest way to accumulate "completed duties" as a mentor, and that also has a target of 2000. But Mentors cannot choose a specific duty when queueing for this, so that leaves an interesting situation where it is the most dull boring content, but for some mentors, it is also the fast lane to finishing this achievement if they're lucky to find a Guildhest spammer!
All the disconnects broke my heart. It’s so sad that people think the best way to play the game is to play the game as little as possible and just get what they want

Dragoon main who loves chasing uptime in m3n. My recommendation for dragoon specifically is to use elusive jump to follow the first jump, then winged glide to follow the second. Since elusive is a shorter cooldown but doesn't hold charges I try to prioritize using it for mobility first. Also on either the first or second lariat combo, I can't remember, if you're doing the standard dragoon opener and keeping dragonfire dive properly aligned it works out perfectly to chase one of the jumps during your burst. M3n is my favorite normal raid this patch because of how much fun that mobility usage is.
A lot of people struggle with trial 2. It’s at such an awkward part of the leveling of dt -99 but can sync to 100 . So 50% of the time someone queues in missing their capstone ability which really sucks for healers 😂 and the blades have a set pattern but it’s Very hard to tell what it is the first few go around!! Not to mention the closing in ring aoe which is really hard to dodge if you don’t know the trick to it. It’s funny the extreme version of the trial doesn’t have that and the swords are a bit easier in it since you only have 1 set of line aoes with the other set being a 3 row aoe or a knock back. Ofc you have to watch his indicators for half room cleaves but if you get hit by one you’ll be fine (just don’t get hit by two!) I found it especially difficult since newer players *will* die to the line aoes and his line stack happens right after. Which is harder to mitigate if a healer or tank or half the party is down 😅 I can understand why so many people leave it before it begins especially if you see “viewing cutscene” but I do think it’s still. You should at least do 1 pull before you decide… I still think players should do it with trusts first since they give clear hints to the mechs (except wuk lamat she is the sprout!! Cute)
Oh I do recall many told me they found the second trial surprisingly easy because they just followed the NPCs! 😅 Still a great tip! And I do agree. Personally I would need to see absolutely terrible gameplay to leave a normal trial like that! 😅😊
Accidentally doing the Heaven's Thrust Combo twice is probably the most common mistake a Dragoon can make. I'm well aware of it. The same goes for Chaotic Spring Combo. The last phase of M4N starts, when boss HP drops below 20%, but it won't activate until she has done whatever mechanic she was doing, when that threshold is reached. If timed properly, it is possible to hit that 20% mark, when she brings out the wings for the second time. The wing phase must then be done before the last phase begins. With good enough DPS, that last phase can be skipped altogether. I have succeeded in that once.
2:00 I was about 2 weeks after launch doing the final trial of DT so I PF'd it to avoid this from happening. I also wanted to MT so there's that, too...
Probably said already, but the easiest way to figure out the swords quickly is to look at a platform that is not lit up and stand in one of those squares.
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Yeah, unfortunately I don't know if there is a good way to figure out the flying blades one. I couldn't figure out a consistent way in normal or extreme.
I don't think I've ever seen people leave duties regularly except the crystal tower alliance raids. Even when I get ex trials in mentor roulette, there's usually a 70-30 everyone stays and at least makes a few good attempts. I also have fill parties checked in my duty finder, so I occassionally join duties already in progress in my other roulettes, but it's pretty uncommon, maybe once a week in a-raid roulette and every other week in every other roulette? I wonder if I'm getting lucky or if there's a cultural difference between the NA data center and the EU data center? Or at the very least Aether and Chaos data centers.
I mentioned on another video about my issues with other players running and pulling ahead of the tank. Given the people leaving dungeons immediately in this video, I do wonder if there is some greater issue of player behaviour getting noticeably worse recently.
@@CaetsuChaijiCh maybe folks are just so desperate to get all their jobs to max level that they think that extra 15 seconds they'll save over the course of a duty will actually matter?
2:48 god i hate this one so much xD this mechanic in extreme was the sole barrier that kept me from joining farm parties for a while despite confidently doing every other mechanic well because if i couldnt figure out how to do this on my own, how could i possibly join farm parties?? lol the way i would solve this now is to just pick a square and look if any sword will come to the specific square... if yes, just move to the next. there are also specific patterns i automatically recognize where the swords will come out from such as when the blue swords are like I - - I then it means the corners will always be a safespot and the opposite if it's like - I I - (somewhere middle will be safe) but this probably doesnt work if there are 2 platforms with blue swords so id just go to my "pick a square and trace back to sword platform" strat xD at least if youre gonna get hit, 1 vuln stack is survivable
1:45 i would love so much if you get a bonus if someone leave and you stay ... 2:25 i mean yes even "just a normal" trial is not easy ... but is it that hard that its worth leaving? for what are you looking anyway to land there and dont want it .. i mean how can you get there? trial roulette .. mentor roulette ... deal with it or atleast try if you play these roulettes .. would also love to see if you lose daily roulette bonus when leaving or something especially at the start ..
Itd be really funny if the healer doing guildhests is also just getting it in roulettes and is asking themselves why tf this caetsu person is running guildhests for mentor roulette
That would be funny, but when you queue mentor roulette, they force the combat mentor icon (the one with the sword and crown) on you! While you can choose to wear that yourself anywhere, but when doing mentor roulettes it is forced upon you, so you can at least determine someone *isn't* doing mentor roulettes if they are missing that specific crown! 😂
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Does it force battle mentor specifically, or if you have full mentor will it show that instead? Also, does it remove the crown after the duty automatically, or do you have to do it yourself?
Once I figure out what it takes to avoid guildhests, surely it will... Hopefully! 😅 But as long as we get something fun every so often, then it's good enough! 😊
Lancer / dragoon is reasonably simple to start. It gets a bit fast on the buttons at higher levels. Alternatively, reaper, and to some degree viper, are also considered easier to pick up, but they both start at high level which introduces their own challenges! 😅
Whenever people ask for a melee I always recommend monk! It lacking any ranged options forces you to learn how to position yourself as a melee since you don't have any fall backs to stay at a distance for long periods of time The 1 2 3 combo also got rid of the dot/buff management in the dawntrail update so it's a lot more lenient on dropping/losing GCDs if you mess up while learning than it used to be, and at higher levels it's also really strong in self healing compared to the other melees with Mantra and Riddle of Earth + the usual second wind and bloodbath
@@Gmaxz_ I'm biased but I feel like Monk is overlooked in most respects, and its approachableness as a beginner job among that. Whenever I'm synced down to 50 on it I feel like it's still relatively fun, because you still have an aoe that's more than one button, one of the best gap closers in the game, and a single target 1, 2, 3 that has a little spin to it. Each new addition after that slots in nicely imo. I started on it and I'm still maining it thousands of hours in, so it can't be too bad for beginners!
Try mentor roulette at 3 in the morning next time. O12: I always use my knockback immunity against Omega F. Or does it even work? I don't remember. That's why you do the standard DRG rotation consisting of one GCD, then weaving 23 oGCDs, then hitting your next GCD. Not that I know how many oGCDs a Dragoon even has.
I don't even know for sure if knockback immunity works for that either but I usually position right so as to not bait others to their doom 😅 Ah yes the uh... That's a lot fo weaves..!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Wait, we don't bait others to their doom? Not in the 2nd DT trial/Bladewarp and not in O12? I thought that's what we're supposed to do.
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Update: Confirmed Arm's Length works both on normal and savage. Guess I'll never do this mechanic again. Unless I don't have knockback immunity.
o12n is a fun time regardless of which role you're in but I have to say my most memroable mentor roulette was doing it as a red mage. You can probably imagine why. While you can almost single handedly drag a team through the fight, your mp will never forgive you.
I can imagine that! It is also always a bit scary to get a challenging duty as a job with little or no utility, since you can really only watch on as things go wrong! 😂
I wonder if these guildhest spammers are actual player. Under the Armor does not need to many inputs and a bot could explain how someone does the brainless and boring task for so long.
(Un?) fortunately extremes from the current expansion does not appear in Mentor Roulette so it was just normal 😅 So no wings to drop! Good luck on your hunt though... That's a lot of clears for very little wing!
Its super disapointing to see people leave on the 99 trial. people need to get through it to get to end game, the trial is easy to do, if noone left maybe it would take at most 20 min but it probs took way longer because people are lazy. like i get extremes if you get them, like already those sound annoying to get when you wanted to just be in and out 10 min. but a clean run of a normal trial is just bad. there should be a 5 minute timer before others should be able to leave without taking a penalty.
First time Omega 12N was a riot. 2:40 no feint, no addle, no shield samba, no mantra/Earth's replay, yep, that's the casual schmuck crowd for ya. And No Rep/Intervention(-vene?)/Nascent Flash. Kekw They can't even be bothered to benison with FOUR total uses of that lmao. 9:48 This is why you shouldn't overthink Cooldowns. It's use em or lose em, baby! Things will naturally align, plus it ain't a 8-man party. so don't break a sweat if your buffs or burst don't line up 1 for 1 with the others.
I still think, leaving should have a penalty, even a milder one, after the first one leaves. heck, the penalty should be even longer imo. If you q for a duty, get something you don't like, and then leave. just don't q in the 1st place then if you are not prepared for anything possible in that q. I've never and will not leave any duty, even the ones I don't particularly like. this way, I get to at least learn the fights and all that. smh my head.
I'm not a mentor but I can see people quitting at "proper content". Mainly because whenever I get either of the Extremes in my trial rollo, even at this point in time we wipe at least 3 times per run. Guess DT really is that challenging
I can tell you why you're seeing more Guildhests lately: We've officially entered the first content lull period for Dawntrail. Savage is out to keep the raiders busy for a few more weeks, but for the casual players, there's nothing to do besides leveling or grinding achievements, and it just so happens that there's a few achievements (and mentor status) locked behind commendations, meaning Guildhest spam is their easy way to get them.
I guess that makes sense, but I never saw this many guildhests in the long waiting period at the end of endwalker where we were just waiting for dawntrail! 😅 But I guess that is an explanation!
I'll stick it out through any dawn trail duty except the last one, I just can't handle the last one, it may seem petty, but staying spoiler free you can miss me with that one lol (only if I get in roulette rather than helping a first timer out through PF)
Guildhests should probably be removed from the game entirely and replaced with a series of tutorial solo duties tied to the hall of the novice
That does sound like a better idea!
I'm also open for guild hests just being... Updated so they don't feel meaningless at least! 😅
Oml PLEASE. I want to become a mentor eventually in game, but seeing how many guildhests show up is low key icky😅
Hopefully not until I’m done with my mentor grind. Just 485 to go!

Ofc you have to watch his indicators for half room cleaves but if you get hit by one you’ll be fine (just don’t get hit by two!)
I found it especially difficult since newer players *will* die to the line aoes and his line stack happens right after. Which is harder to mitigate if a healer or tank or half the party is down 😅
I can understand why so many people leave it before it begins especially if you see “viewing cutscene” but I do think it’s still. You should at least do 1 pull before you decide…
I still think players should do it with trusts first since they give clear hints to the mechs (except wuk lamat she is the sprout!! Cute)
Oh I do recall many told me they found the second trial surprisingly easy because they just followed the NPCs! 😅 Still a great tip! And I do agree. Personally I would need to see absolutely terrible gameplay to leave a normal trial like that! 😅😊
5:59 Monks: "A what?"
Better click six sided star or something! 😂
WHM Glare 4 burst is pretty big especially if other people are holding 2 minute CDs.
Yeah it makes sense, an extremely easy mistake to make too!
And that makes sense, I guess I just had never seen it align so "perfectly" before 😅
2:00 I was about 2 weeks after launch doing the final trial of DT so I PF'd it to avoid this from happening. I also wanted to MT so there's that, too...
It is absurd that this is even necessary though!
Probably said already, but the easiest way to figure out the swords quickly is to look at a platform that is not lit up and stand in one of those squares.
Yeah that makes sense. For me it's usually the blades flying in a line causing trouble when I'm not being dumb! 😅
But that is a great tip!
That could be, I really don't know why that would be though. It does feel like some players are significantly more in a hurry than usual? 🤔
@@CaetsuChaijiCh maybe folks are just so desperate to get all their jobs to max level that they think that extra 15 seconds they'll save over the course of a duty will actually matter?
2:48 god i hate this one so much xD
this mechanic in extreme was the sole barrier that kept me from joining farm parties for a while despite confidently doing every other mechanic well because if i couldnt figure out how to do this on my own, how could i possibly join farm parties?? lol
the way i would solve this now is to just pick a square and look if any sword will come to the specific square... if yes, just move to the next. there are also specific patterns i automatically recognize where the swords will come out from such as when the blue swords are like I - - I then it means the corners will always be a safespot and the opposite if it's like - I I - (somewhere middle will be safe) but this probably doesnt work if there are 2 platforms with blue swords so id just go to my "pick a square and trace back to sword platform" strat xD
at least if youre gonna get hit, 1 vuln stack is survivable
@henryhunter9643 it forces battle mentor. And puts back whatever you had before you entered when you finish 😊
It looks like you’ve had more guildhests than all other duties combined. Ouch. Here’s hoping the balance improves over time!
Once I figure out what it takes to avoid guildhests, surely it will... Hopefully! 😅
But as long as we get something fun every so often, then it's good enough! 😊
why people leaving normal trial?
Great question, maybe can't be bothered to do duty, or had something else planned. I can't say since they usually leave without a word! 🤔
I thought the title said omega ultimate with newbies and i was incredibly confused
Oooh yeah that's quite different! 😂
What is a good melee class for a beginner that has a pretty simple rotation is easy to remember
Reaper. If you can't unlock it yet, Lancer/Dragoon.
Lancer / dragoon is reasonably simple to start. It gets a bit fast on the buttons at higher levels. Alternatively, reaper, and to some degree viper, are also considered easier to pick up, but they both start at high level which introduces their own challenges! 😅
Reaper ezaf and fun af to boot....atleast it was in endwalker I haven't leveled anything but Drk this xpac as it's always been my fav
Whenever people ask for a melee I always recommend monk!
It lacking any ranged options forces you to learn how to position yourself as a melee since you don't have any fall backs to stay at a distance for long periods of time
The 1 2 3 combo also got rid of the dot/buff management in the dawntrail update so it's a lot more lenient on dropping/losing GCDs if you mess up while learning than it used to be, and at higher levels it's also really strong in self healing compared to the other melees with Mantra and Riddle of Earth + the usual second wind and bloodbath
I don't even know for sure if knockback immunity works for that either but I usually position right so as to not bait others to their doom 😅
Ah yes the uh...
I never found DT trial 2 that hard personally, I do think some people are giving up easily.
o12n is a fun time regardless of which role you're in but I have to say my most memroable mentor roulette was doing it as a red mage.
I've seen others suggest bots and multi boxers do guildhests as well so it is certainly a possibility 🤔
but did the wings drop on duty 3 ? so far ive done 72 clears ... saw them once, and lost by 1 after rolling 94 T.T
(Un?) fortunately extremes from the current expansion does not appear in Mentor Roulette so it was just normal 😅
So no wings to drop!
Its a real shame, considering how fun the fight is
First time Omega 12N was a riot.
2:40 no feint, no addle, no shield samba, no mantra/Earth's replay, yep, that's the casual schmuck crowd for ya. And No Rep/Intervention(-vene?)/Nascent Flash. Kekw
They can't even be bothered to benison with FOUR total uses of that lmao.
9:48 This is why you shouldn't overthink Cooldowns. It's use em or lose em, baby! Things will naturally align, plus it ain't a 8-man party. so don't break a sweat if your buffs or burst don't line up 1 for 1 with the others.
If not for guildhests I honestly don’t know if I would have had the will to get my Astrope. Boring but fast is good imo for this.
Why not ask the healers or tanks spamming under the armor WHY they are doing it?
Seems quite accusatory but that would possibly be a way to get an answer assuming they do respond 😅
they dont answer, lol
I'm not a mentor but I can see people quitting at "proper content". Mainly because whenever I get either of the Extremes in my trial rollo, even at this point in time we wipe at least 3 times per run.
Guess DT really is that challenging
Tbf I spam the guildhests, to make sure my portrait saves. ( it doesn't)
delete guildhests
The Everkeep small area triggers me so much. My 2 brain cells are already strained enough 😅
It is weirdly challenging despite how long he gives you to react!
But I guess that is an explanation!
I'll stick it out through any dawn trail duty except the last one, I just can't handle the last one, it may seem petty, but staying spoiler free you can miss me with that one lol (only if I get in roulette rather than helping a first timer out through PF)
