    Buddy Landell's story was a sad one. He had talent and charisma but he was his own worst enemy. He finally got his life together and tragically died in a car accident. I always enjoyed watching Buddy work. He was great as a heel.

      He was 1 of my all time favorite wrestlers, Put on a good show EVERY time he came through Savannah Ga, They always made wrestling look real, unlike today's shit shows, The rivalries were so believable, There will never ever be good wrestling again, the 80s ruled

    The last show I worked on the Indy circuit in London,Ky I was Buddy’s manager, we were heels against Bill Dundee, house of maybe 120, main event and sometimes before the match Buddy took something, he was barely standing in the ring, Bill had to do all the work to make him look decent and I had to do my part as a heel, after the match he had passed out, that was the last time I saw him, I hated to hear when he passed years ago , he had such a bright future but like others wasted it away , rest in peace Budro

    I worked with a Man at FedEx. He actually snorted Cocaine, Angel Dust, right in front of me. I'm a worthless Alcoholic, but I couldn't understand what kind of High he was getting from doing that line right in front of me. I actually felt sorry for him. He was much younger than me. He was tripping and sweating profusely. Bless his little heart ❤️. I hope he got out of his addiction ✝️💔

    When he had the angle with The Original Stagger Lee KoKo B Ware is when Buddy looked phenomenal!! Absolutely stunning with amazing talent in the ring..he was out with Jimmy Hart to be the shtick guy... This was 84... His frame and physique changed...he looked puffier with no definition..roids is the word, but he admits to starting recreational use of cocaine...my whole point here is Buddy's lifestyle changed in Memphis and so did the opportunities he messed up...no regrets though and no excuses...Buddy is a real guy who struggled with fame in the game!! He has now passed on and will always remain one of the guys who got me into not liking heels!! Thanks for the great years Buddy

    What's crazy is Dusty had to step in and continue the angle by taking Baby Doll and Tully getting JJ as his manager . I think Buddy was dating Baby Doll before Sam . Saw shoot interview where her n Tully are flirting talking about old times . He mentions Buddy n she kinda shakes her head.

    deep down the only 2 that know are the nature boys. I don’t think buddy was a mark for the belt like flair. Flair probably begged and paid him to not show up so they can keep the belt on him and buddy was true to his word til the end. Buddy and w me would have been hitting the towns tearing em up as we go. Buddy was 37 at the time in 36 now. He defiantly had 2 or 3 tours in him.

    • @rickstalentedtongue910
      @rickstalentedtongue910 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, a quick transitional Champion, like Ronnie Garvin, just to mix it up and keep it a threat that Ric could lose the belt. That is basically what Buddy said, he would then beat Magnum and Tully and Ric would gain it right back.

    Landel was very solid and a good worker. But still find it hard to believe Crockett would put the belt on him knowing his reputation and far as keeping a 365 day schedule. Buddy could have never kept Flair's schedule. Same reason Kerry Von Erich was never a long term champ.

      In JCP it was always about keeping Flair as long-term NWA World Champion. There were wrestlers that were in line to become NWA Champion in brief, then have Flair regain it. In this case Buddy was figured in because of Flair's personal circumstance. Buddy obviously had a severe brain fart that morning, that's his fault.
      David Von Erich and Magnum T.A. were figured in but their tragedies' changed plans moving forward and kept Flair Champion for longer periods of time. Flair regained in from Kerry in Spring of 84' and didn't drop the belt until Summer of 86'.

    I can't believe Buddy Landell was school beat Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Smh. There's no way! This guy was mid card at best. He was never in the same league as Flair, Rhodes, Race, the Funks, or even Blanchard or Magnum. He was at the level of Terry Taylor or Brad Armstrong. He had a little bit of fame by shamelessly portraying Flair's character and gimmick. Otherwise, he wasn't worth a crap.
