I wash shams once a month or so. Sometimes they end up being different colors from the comforter if you don't! And they collect normal household dust also, so it never hurts to add them periodically.

Do you wash your mattress pad? I wash my mattress paid every 2 months, unless it's sweaty from hubby. I wash it with some bleach too. Just a suggestion. Wash your pillow shams at least every month, and I wash my pillows that I sleep on wii wash my mattress pad unless they look yellowish from sweaty too..dry all in dryer might have to dry several times or air dry.
