This feels like Diablo 4's big positive change (like when D3 lost the auction house and became vastly different from its launch version). This has me very excited to come back for season 4.
Original release D3 was 1000x better than the loot 2.0 patch. I dont like dropping a full inventory of useless uniques every run. At least in the original release with the RMAH if I dropped say, an Echoing Fury or a Skorn, or an inna item, or whatever else, I knew I hit good loot. My WW Barb was worth roughly 3 billion gold, at the time at rate of 30c per million gold, and come the new patch, my character was worthless. I made a few thousand bucks grinding during the RMAH days.
The auction house was awesome. I made 1000$ selling crap I didnt need. Only people who didnt take advantage of the auction house say it was bad. They should have had it for un augmented items only though, and not for buying/selling gold. I dont care if some kid in Korea wants to buy his way ahead. I'm not playing with those people or trying to beat them on some dumb leaderboard anyways. Neither are 99% of the people playing Diablo games, so who really cares. It was a way to make money for spending hundreds of hours playing a game instead of doing something constructive. Now these games are just time vacuums where you get nothing in return after completing the story.
Auction house was fantastic. Main problems in my view were: - items with -level requirement (meaning AH was ALWAYS better while leveling) - no solo self found mode that gave the feeling that not using it was worthwhile - grinding the game itself wasn’t fun, this made the AH disproportionately visible

Itemization and trading. To feel actually rewarded and challenged all the time. To feel "i got rich yes!" moments.. "i can get 3x high runes for this" .. stuff like this is the foundation of diablo games. No more of that 1000x different stats bullshit.
btw the thing with the stats was: in d3 you had items with 3 to four stats, one was always your main stat or vitality, so 1 of 3 was always useful - and you could craft one further of three to your desired stat (necro cd reduce, or crit chance and thereby could stack it) which leaves one unused stat if! you have a bad roll. in d4 items had like 6 stats, of which, with good luck ONE of six was useful, and you could only switch out one further of six. that leaves four random semi-useless stats on gear. it was just a try to drag the itemization, and thats what they got punished for. basically it was never even remotely doable to find an item that had lets say 4 of 6 stats meeting your playstile, and craft one so 5 of six were matching, if so, itemization might have worked. you could have farmed vuln, dmg on chill, dmg on freeze, chill+freeze-chance as a frostmage - that would have worked. but getting items with those three on one piece was basically a win in lottery. it was not happening. so people ran around with either speccing into what their gear randomly offered, or were uber uniques with only one or two matching stats ... which makes them shiny magic items.

The crafting system has the same sort of randomness that Last Epoch has and I actually love it. Sure, I might screw up an item but farming for that one that works out is so worth it.
It’s cause Last epoch has the most meaningful crafting of any arpg ever, so copying them isn’t bad at all. I’d like that kind of crafting in any of them cause in most arpgs it just feels worthless for the most part tbh.

They released the game too early, I know it, they know it, and every one else sure as fuck knows it, now whether they are capable of fixing the game and have always known the issues but have been forced to follow a different remit is open to debate but the whole thing has a amateur feel to it and from the outside looking in it all seems to look like they are just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
Absolutely right. So many people "it should have been good before blah blah" if you can't give positive feedback for good changes then you are just a hater criticizing in bad faith
They specified about the "doubling number of uniques". It's just that usually they add 1 unique per class, now it will be 2. It's not the total number of uniques. Also, just to chime in on the "Flat dmg values" - there was this thing with the Overcharged Aspect, where if you are level 100 and you imprint the aspect from the Codex, its flat dmg will be higher than any that could appear on a 925 item. Not sure how it scaled exactly, but I suppose this will be nerfed now.
The amount of effort they put into the gauntlet. There was no reason to delay it whatsoever. If they actually do all these things as planned, we can understand the delay for season 4. Till May 14.
Sounds like alot of really good changes. Glad they made trading a thing, good to hear itemization will be improved. I think my big sticking point with the game is the Paragon system. Its overly complex, for what seems like no reason. I just dont get the point of the paragon boards.
I took season 2 off, picked up D4 this week, and am looking to the new system. Hoping they provide more reason to play a lvl 100 character outside of min maxing.
I went back to POE shortly after I entered D4 endgame. All of these changes will bring me back for another try. I've always assumed it would eventually end up a pretty good seasonal arpg. The foundation, graphics, artwork, music, and general vibe are too good to go wasted because they can't get the itemization right. It's always been a question of when and not if in my mind.
it's almost like D3 actually had a really good item system with set items but just needed an overhaul of the skill tree and more interactivity beteweeen the skills like in POE 2
I wouldn't really call D3's system good. At the end of the day, you were locked into whatever set buffed the damage of a spell by 20000% for that season. The things you could actually choose about your build where tiny.
Overall, I'm pretty stoked about the upcoming changes. Huge W!!! On a side note, my wife finally got her very first Uber Unique, and I'm extremely jealous! Her first Uber???......SHAKO!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! DAMNIT!!! 🤣🤣
As a casual player, I hope they keep us in mind. Things I would like related to the upcoming changes: A) Tell us when we've extracted an affix already on the item. Just an icon of some sort. Also, maybe color code the icon so we know if the extracted affix is a low, medium, max roll? I don't want to have to constantly check other sources to see what the range is. B) Don't let us brick an item. Give a restart option like by sacrificing an identical legendary/unique. When you play only a few hours a week, it would hurt to hit that hard a wall.
dude the whole game is built for casuals the game was literally made catered to you. I think its time for them to expand the game to other audiences as well.
@@dwizzle2132 I don't think they can too much, there's a reason poe doesn't have many players.. even last epoch is behind a decent amount but far better than other arpgs, so while they may be able to do some things, I doubt they can honestly have anything else more complex or challenging because players will just whine about it more than anything.. honestly one of the most whiny communities i have seen..
D4's 'masterworking' concept is used in RAID: Shadow Legends. In RAID it encouraged 'the chase' and created replayability, but it was ridiculously overpriced and tedious to refarm items if you bricked the previous ones, and many players got fed up, overtime. I believe the success of this system for D4 will depend on its accessibility and balance around what we need to craft, paired with how hard it will be farming a bunch of near-perfect items we're willing to 'brick'. If we account for 3 affixes, you would have a 3.7% chance to roll the same affix 3 times in a row. So on average we'll need 27 of those near-perfect items. Now if you consider at least 9 slots for your character, that'll be 243 near-perfect items you have to farm to build you 'ultimate character'. This will make itemization more exciting, but I hope you're ready for a grind if you're committed and have bad luck. 😅
I'm playing d3 off and on still. The current season on d3 is straight fire. Solo mode is actually really good. I don't think d4 will come close to d3 anytime soon to me
the hyper thing also the codex change is a massive W for mee, also adding that sick mechanic of season 2's blood harvest npc hunting us for helltide is my favorite thing, and one more thing that uber unique chest is going to me my main squeeze.
Without Diablo LE wouldn't even exist. It's how game development works and nearly every existing mechanic in games at some point were "inspired" by other games.
@19:10 I feel like in regards to "doubling the number of uniques" they were implying that because of the class restrictions. For example, swords can be used by multiple classes however unique swords are class specific. So they are doubling the amount of uniques each class can access by making them usable by multiple classes
Why do they need to make crafting non-deterministic? The game does not have enough content to make me want to farm the right recipe and base over and over again. Give me Last Epoch's crafting system.
To me they added some of the good things from D3 into the new things with D4. I wasn't going to do season 4 but now I may be interested in re-doing my characters with all these changes in the upcoming seasons.
No... they won't expand on the lore season to season. Diablo will probably come in a later expansion down the line. Maybe in a few years. Which I think is fine.... Next expansion will be more on Mephisto for sure, we'll see what else it entails.
@reid9041 I dunno about that i inly got so much time to invest in one arpg at a time, and did you see the engineer gameplay like Holy shit. And the druid animations woa. All for free too. I'm not sure how d4 even competes with that.
This is probably not the last chance, but a really good chance that might not present itself again for a while. Especially if you consider that they will want you to pay for the next expansion pretty soon.
Big step in the right direction but idk if it will fix the core issue of drops not feeling good since to get the best item you'll always have to craft/temper with it. This will make it so even if you get the best drop possible you still won't feel as good about it because you still won't know if the item will actually be good in the end or not. Love the rest of the changes and will definitely try them out!
I'm wondering why they just didn't ported all item system and blacksmith crafting from Diablo 3 and making it work within the new design, it was so much good in the previous title that could be used in the new one, and at same time it will feel more familiar to the fan base
So...simply... they almost changed 50% of the game... Was it really that difficult to identify these points in the D4 system (which, ~100% of its players did not like), during the production and testing phase??? Also, the project managers and team leaders responsible for them, did they get their promotion and raise for the initial sales of D4 and for filling completely their little tickboxes, as usual in the corporate world????? I bet they did :)
I've said from the beginning. That D4 has to incorporate a gear system, opposite of D3. Set items for example are NOT 'end game' loot. But set items, in D4 'could be' a 'fix' for the gear drops in D4
Really Meaty update, D4 really needed this. For once it seems more like new systems than fixing existing ones. I hope this is not too late for most players and S4 theme is engaging and fun. About loot filter / lots of loot : The info that the late pits will loot more is really contradictory with their state of mind "Quality over quantity!" Why not simply loot the same amount but with more chance of greater affixes?? Anyway I'm really waiting for the PTR, it may fix those incoherences. And as always thx Rhykker for the summary. :)
Ty for the summary of these changes. I would them update the dungeons where you don't have run back and forth and have hell level after nightmare for an alternative options for end game grind

What is sad is that they only looked just now, after the game came out...
Main problems in my view were:
- items with -level requirement (meaning AH was ALWAYS better while leveling)
- no solo self found mode that gave the feeling that not using it was worthwhile
- grinding the game itself wasn’t fun, this made the AH disproportionately visible
@@Steph1 lmao I used to run the alkaizer runs for like 12 hours/day between sleep and school. My friends would wwant to MF with me and it was just "Keep up man!". I took it a little too seriously. It definitely wasnt maximum fun, it was maximum grind lmao
Yeah? They should have learned from D3 mistakes instead of making worst ones in D4.
I was in the camp that D4 was fun but shallow, and this addressed a lot of my concerns. Im interested to see what they have to say about additional class changes and endgame progression.
I can't believe that I'm actually looking forward to play Season 4 now that Last Epoch past the version number 1.0.
I hope that we also get a new talent tree with more stuff to choose from in the future. If not I will still opt out for LE.
Bigger, longer seasons is what we want. Not rushed seasons like 1 and 3.
What? Speak for yourself.
Season length is totally fine where it's at, if anything they can be shortened a bit, but they're fine where they are.
In regards to more content? Yes, more content is always needed. But like Rhyker said, they haven't even launched details about what the S4 content will be, so your comment is really random and irrelevant. Wait until that news is released, then either complain or praise.
If a Season was expansive enough to hold your interest for 4 months, I'd be completely sold on it. So far Seasons have lasted a few hours and then it's back to bog standard endgame..@@KoiKoy56
@@KoiKoy56you want them shorter with more content forcing the devs to crunch, the game quality would be better if things weren’t so rushed and not everyone has the time to keep coming back to the game so often

@Andyd33 player retention will 100% suffer with longer seasons.
Your point is not wrong, but it's also not valid. If D4 wants to be successful with player retention, Blizzard will need to be able to keep up. That's business.
yeah that codex change sounds f****** great
As long as there isn't a massive bottle neck to extracting all of the aspects. It'll probably cost some stupid amount of gold and forgotten souls or something.

Hi Rhykker! (From folks)
Activation Blizzards pockets... Diablo 4 dev genius - Last Epoch bad. We copied their "system" and we the best!
@@IanLagonerayou ok?
Hey @Rhykker, just to clarify 10:25 , you don't EXTRACT, you salvage if they have that tag they showed on it.
I didn't think this game would be good for at least another year but they honestly surprised me today this rework will actually bring me back for season four to at least check it out.
Yeah I got to level 12 last season. Made it too 100 sorceress season to season one level 86
Might come back
It will be better, but not good. Wait the year and be really suprised.
FIX THE SKILL TREE!! add more options, add more passives regards or atleast effective in that particular skill.
Raxx said S5 come with even more changes, my suspicion is skill rework will be there.
@@mapron1 I honestly hope, don't get me wrong having a simple system isn't always bad we don't need as many skills as poe does, but the limitation of them overall doesn't feel too great because it wasn't done well. So hopefully that is the case..
They did say in campfire, that the number of uniques added for this season is double. But right after they said two per class. So ten instead of five.
They just need to dump a bunch of uniques now and not slowly roll new ones out every season. I want junk uniques that are fun early on, like D2.
It's 12 with 1 Uber tyraels might and 1 generic unique like xfals.
guess we're in that "imagine if D4 launched like this" period we have with so many modern games. all these things are fantastic.

@@Rhykker hi rykker i was an early alpha tester. Alot of the changes and features were actually in alpha, They actually removed alot of stuff such as runes and runewords from d4 and alot of the features and changes they have been adding like with this update so they could sell it on the next expansion. It was a wide known thing in company. I guess they gave in to pressue to fix the game to the point it was BEFORE Release.
The crafting system has the same sort of randomness that Last Epoch has and I actually love it. Sure, I might screw up an item but farming for that one that works out is so worth it.
its a copy
It’s cause Last epoch has the most meaningful crafting of any arpg ever, so copying them isn’t bad at all. I’d like that kind of crafting in any of them cause in most arpgs it just feels worthless for the most part tbh.
@@zarthemad8386 I mean most games do this, its not new to the gaming world, if something works copy it over for your game because its known to be good, and to be fair as the other said it's definitely one of the more meaningful crafting systems, poes isn't bad per say just overly complex...and messy to say the least, it's a good starting point, crafting in in itself does need to be expanded upon in some manner, we don't want it to run the entire game because that's honestly no fun, but it does need some sort of staying power.

This is a HUGE improvement overall, if all goes to plan I’ll definitely be playing this season. We are so quick to give criticism- so I think they deserve a nice chunk of appreciation for these changes. GGs devs. Let’s hope all is ok in terms of new changes and all are working as stated ❤
Dude come on, this is stuff that should've been sorted before release and a lot of it looks a lot like a knee jerk reaction to Last Epoch more than anything, they're all welcome changes but it feels like were applauding a singer for clearing their throat.
@@gs8494No difference to D3. It released in the same state with poor itemization etc. and fixed up a year later. It is the Blizzard way, and we should expect them to fumble the ball on 1st try every time.
@@gs8494Year but you know, a bit positiv reinforcement might push the devs into a better direction.
If you work at your job and your boss tells you every day that you suck until you finally make a big improvement and your bosses reaction is "now you suck a bit less, but you should have been there when you started working here!"
Would that motivate you to continue to improve? Or would you rather be motivated by something like "Hey, you did a great job today, i always knew that you had it in you, keep it up!" ?
@@Daniel-rd6st If I was that bad I would've been sacked and they would've gotten someone else. If you look at the history of Blizzard and the knowledge and experience they have, or should have, there's no excuse for the game being the way it is, I paid £100 to beta test a game that is just now starting to look like it may be worth that, worse still I'm playing Last Epoch for a third of what I paid for D4 and it has more thought depth and polish, it also shows that the problems at Blizzard aren't so simple that positive reinforcement is the fix.
Really happy we will be able to zoom out on PC!
Yeah that is one of the things i'm most excited about honestly lol
On console too
Having to hold onto a bunch of copies of the same legendary was super annoying... glad we are fixing that.
I'm so excited they're getting closer to having a product that's ready for release
This next season is shaping up to be amazing
The amount of effort they put into the gauntlet. There was no reason to delay it whatsoever. If they actually do all these things as planned, we can understand the delay for season 4. Till May 14.
@chunglehunt2266Said by someone who isn't playing the game and heard it in a video. Probably.
Skill variations like fire, cold, lightning etc from D3 can be used to revisualise options in D4
We cant forget about Arcane!
Many Ws for us, good stuff!
ever since Bobby Kotick left things have been changing for the better

On a side note, my wife finally got her very first Uber Unique, and I'm extremely jealous! Her first Uber???......SHAKO!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! DAMNIT!!! 🤣🤣
As a casual player, I hope they keep us in mind. Things I would like related to the upcoming changes:
A) Tell us when we've extracted an affix already on the item.
You can already see ranges on the item if you turn it on...
dude the whole game is built for casuals the game was literally made catered to you.
There is an option in settings for more detailed tooltips. Click that. Will always give you the ranges.
They make bricking an item sound worse than it is
D4's 'masterworking' concept is used in RAID: Shadow Legends. 😅
i never knew people actually play that game. i thought it was just some kind of vaporware scheme youtubers used to launder money somehow
huh
Sounds like blizzard to take their inspiration from fucking raid shadow legends.

We don’t need a loot filter. We need an auto-salvage filter.
Disagree. Loot salvage is a mid system, items must be items, not materials. I hope they will get rid of iron/silver/veiled nonsense.
Yeah, because looking at every single drop and managing a small inventory is fun. So. Much. Fun.
Diablo 4 will evolve and expand SO much over the years, it’s silly to think it’s ever over.
Really excited to check this out
This is probably not the last chance, but a really good chance that might not present itself again for a while. Especially if you consider that they will want you to pay for the next expansion pretty soon.
Diablo 4 is saved, they have to call season 4: season of the reborn
Let’s hope they fix Diablo 4
Sounds good! I might go play again if it actually turns out to be all these things.
So D4 is finally outta beta testing. Good to know, might play now
Big step in the right direction but idk if it will fix the core issue of drops not feeling good since to get the best item you'll always have to craft/temper with it. This will make it so even if you get the best drop possible you still won't feel as good about it because you still won't know if the item will actually be good in the end or not. Love the rest of the changes and will definitely try them out!
Excited to see these changes and where they go with them. they clearly listen to their community which is nice.
I'm wondering why they just didn't ported all item system and blacksmith crafting from Diablo 3 and making it work within the new design, it was so much good in the previous title that could be used in the new one, and at same time it will feel more familiar to the fan base
Season 4 looking legit! Excited to hop back on
So...simply... they almost changed 50% of the game...
It's a step in the right direction... but game fixed? no, we'll see how it feels when the s4 releases.
What is the deal with Blizzard's love of the number 925 in Diablo IV? Is there some inside joke/story I'm unaware of?
Drops are SO important. I recall when I got a vorpal axe in DNDOnline. Damn. Was so proud of that drop there and then 😊
I would also like for Diablo 2 elements to come back and be implemented.
We still need RUNEWORDS
I cannot believe they made another game without rune words.

Gotta love how they straight jacked Last Epoch's crafting.
It resembles, but not as good as LE. Still, a huge step up from that upgrade joke of ...can't call that crafting.
And that's a bad thing because?

Regarding "doubling amount of uniques" they specifically said they increased number of new uniques per class in season 4 from 1 for each class to 2 for each class.
