I put 40mm tires on my EnduraceON back in 2020 and ride Canyon E Gravel that way since before the GrailON or GrizlON at merely 14kg for the aluminum bike with the amazing Fazua engine. Awesome bike with the 2in1 Fazua removable engine. Love it just like you! Sad they stopped making it.

Wait until you get a fat tire ebike. Seriously. I understand that they are nothing like a road bike, but in terms of exploring different areas, you can do so much with them. Best bet is to have 3 bikes. A true road bike, your Canyon, and a fat tire which can go off road.

Like many commenters here, I used to be an anti-e-bike snob. One morning an overweight rider on an e-bike told me that was the only way he could continue his love of riding after he had been diagnosed with heart disease. That made me question my snobbery.
People ride e-bikes for lots of reasons. Like David says, e-bikes are here to stay.

Hell, I'm perfectly capable of riding my Endurace around, and I still wont say no to going silly fast! People will always complain for the sake of complaining. The fact is, engineering is awesome and we are allowed to like all of it, regardless of if we 'need' it

As an older cyclist of 74 still riding and touring good distances I recognise the time will come to buy an e-bike. It's ability to keep me riding for another few years puts into perspective any narrow minded quibbling from the usually able bodied purists.
One apparent trend in e-bikes that does puzzle me is the number of newer models that have in-built batteries. For people like me who wish to go touring on an e-bike or live in a flat / apartment the prospect of carrying a heavy e-bike to a charging socket or to an hotel room is a significant barrier.

Just bought the Grail On (first generation) this morning at a nice discount. Some emerging heart issues after 40 years of regular and sometimes hard riding means that it is no longer smart to be banging out a very high heart rate on the big gravel climbs of the Jura. Can’t wait for delivery.

I recently bought a Bianchi e-Impulso gravel bike to commute on. I live in Australia (grew up in UK) and my daily ride is generally along a river path with plenty of ruts and tree roots etc.
I easily managed it previously on my MTb, but decided I wanted a bit of assist for days where the weather isn’t ideal (although heat is more of an issue here than rain!). The e-bike isn’t a perfect solution - the speed cut out at 25kph is too low, and most of my riding is higher than that. However, the starts through the city away from the lights are nice and if it is warm, I just ease my pace and spin at a cadence that keeps me below 25kph. You have to use the various assistance modes like gears as once you are cruising, the highest level of intervention cuts in and drops out and applies what feels like an e-brake as you cross the magic 25kph.
Consider these lower powered e-bikes like a gentle tail wind, or someone giving a gentle nudge on your saddle to help you along.

I made a submission to the government consultation on increasing e-bike power. I said I think there should be a modest increase in power to 350w, not 500w, but also an increase in the speed to 18-20mph for regular e-bikes. This will allow for faster but safe commuting and less dangerous acceleration from standstill. A throttle should be allowed to help cross roads. Hope they listen.

I was planning on buying the Santa Cruz Skitch so my wife could join me on gravel rides.
I wonder how this new canyon would work (geometry/handling wise) with a flat bar installed instead of the drop bars (assuming axs version).
The Skitch is more expensive and I would want to add the sus fork - making it even more expensive.

SO MANY (!) e-bike companies skip this safety feature and I personally wouldn't buy an e-bike without them!! Especially high-end e-bikes like this! Trek puts them on their cheaper e-bikes and then skips them on the high-end bikes to save weight?! Stupidity!!

An e-gravel bike with front suspension would be great where I used to live high in the Rocky Mountains where dirt roads were 4x4 tracks and everything was so steep you had to have pro power to get real miles in. But, other than that or for older riders looking for some assistance, I don't see the point. If I was in the market for something like this I'd get the Creo over this with no hesitation.

Nice looking bike, although at my age and health level I definitely don't have any need for an e-bike. Are those Shimano PD-M520 pedals I spy there on your tester? Absolutely the best value for money for a pedal in my book - pretty much bulletproof. I have them on all of my bikes, even my road bike.

Not sure I would buy an e-bike thinking I would go for longer rides, battery life on these small batteries is not great. I think it is more suited for someone who wants to ride steeper terrain but doesn't have the physical ability to do so

I like the idea but would rather not have a carbon bike. Last week, an idiot of a pedestrian mistook the separated bike path for an extension of the footpath and pushed my bike and I onto the ground. I was injured and my bike has some deep scratches. The incident could have been even more unfortunate with a carbon bike.

I was very interested in this bike, but after research I realized that Canyons are direct sales, for an ordinary bike this should be no problem, but for e-bikes that have more complex parts like computers, how is servicing done? Risky?

Why on earth would you want a drop bar position when your motor is pushing you to 25 km/h anyhow? On top, since one is not pushing pedals all that hard, leg power will support the upper body even less. Must be for the true masos out there!

The battery belongs in a wheelchair for those who cannot move with their own limbs and not in a bicycle. It is no longer a bicycle, but an instrument for the physically handicapped.
During last year's season my friend and I rode our bikes up one challenging hill. In the meantime, as we were catching our breath, two fat pensioners on electric bikes arrived on the same hill and immediately took out a pack of cigarettes and lit up.
So much for electric bikes. The reality of their use speaks for itself.

Yeah, if I was a Rich homeowner in a gated community(with a security force on the grounds!) and I could keep my $8000+! gravel e-bike locked in a cage inside a locked garage...😅 Then I could definitely get one!! Otherwise these make no sense for anyone who's trying to use as a commuter/car substitute where they'd be stolen in 10 minutes if you locked them outside of a store or work😢.... A beater car is way cheaper and less likely to get Knicked!!
